Based on his Instagram, looks like Anthony Espensen has transferred from UWSP to play at La Crosse.  He was the highlight of the freshman class for Point last year, and leaves to a rival.

They got rid of that rule of sitting out a year for intra-conference transfers?

I'm not exactly sure what rules are in place now but when the transfer portal was introduced, everyone was basically given 1 free transfer.  I've seen it all over in D1, where kids transfer to intra-conference teams without sitting.  I would assume it's the same at D3.  UWSP better have some transfers we don't know about or this is looking like a brutal year.

I think conferences are still allowed to have their own rules above and beyond the NCAA and Division III rules about transferring, but I must admit that that is part of the transfer portal conversation I have not considered.

Yes, it's a conference-by-conference thing. The CCIW, for example, requires intra-conference transfers to sit out a year if they actually played.

Stevens Point releases their schedule. Non cons at St. Olaf, at Bethel, vs Edgewood, vs Lake Forest (Dells), vs Augustana, at Hope, at Trine, at Williamette, at Linfield, at Lewis & Clark.

Not knowing the names, my D3 brain was wondering why the head coach at a prestigious private college on the East coast would take an assistant job at a public school in the Midwest. Then I came to my senses and realized it wasn't Amherst College, it was Amherst high school (about 15 minutes from Stevens Point) It's been too long...

Heck, I even double-checked the NESCAC board to make sure that I hadn't missed something.

Same.

Since I didn't even know there WAS an Amherst HS, my thought was that he had moved from Massachusetts to Wisconsin for some sort of basketball-unrelated family reasons, and simply wanted to stay involved in the game!

Nice town. Home of Central Waters Brewery.

Yes, but the big question is:

Do they pronounce the 'h'?
