Anyone have some insight as to what happened to the mighty Titans today?
So young hero, ask yourself............................Do you want to go to college, get a good education, and play (basketball)(football), or do you want to go to college, get a good education, and watch (basketball)(football)? 🤔 😏

Sloppy passing, a mediocre shooting night, and a giant freshman in the middle of the floor.

The WARHAWKS pick up their second win 78-67 over Heidelberg.  A fast break jumper from Chislom opened the scoring and the WARHAWKS never trailed building a 14 point half time lead 41-27.  The lead grew to a high of 22 midway into the second half but Heidelberg eventually cut it to 9 very late in the half.  The Barnstable brothers led the way with Miles scoring 21 and Delvin 20.  Delvin added a double double with 10 rebounds and also led the team with 3 steals.  Chislom also scored in double figures with 14 and Elijah Lambert added 8 points and 10 rebounds. Again the WARHAWKS show a significant advantage from the charity line 24-31 vs 5-6.

The WARHAWKS wind up the trip to Tiffin with a game against Pitt-Bradford this afternoon.

Yup, all that and more. I knew Calvin's incoming class was the most talented we've seen in years, but I didn't expect their defense to gel so quickly. Usually, freshmen don't take to the demands of college level defense all that quickly, but these newcomers clearly bothered Oshkosh, who didn't get many easy looks. Maybe there was some under performance by the Titans, but Borchert is a keeper, a truly dandy hoopster who can play on my team anytime.

Ironically, my first thought turning the game on was, "Who is that? He looks like Jack Flynn out there."

Indeed. It's truly a very rare case where a freshman enters college with enough defensive ability to guard anyone other than perhaps his mother. Definitely a huge learning curve on the defensive end. It just seems that coming out of high school, the vast majority of kids are much more accomplished offensively. This is especially true since the three point shot has come to the forefront of so many teams offensive planning. You regularly see kids practicing 3 pointers to the point you now have teams full not only of guards who are accomplished at shooting from downtown, but usually have at least a couple of bigs who can also hit from distance.

Platteville opens its season at UW Superior's tournament.  On Friday they beat Lawrence 82-71 with Logan Pearson leading the way with 27 points. Today against UW Superior they over came a 10 point halftime deficit to win 77-68. Logan Pearson again led Platteville with 20 points and Ben Probst added 17.

'95 Blugold

Blugolds go on the road and lose to St. Johns 70-71 in double overtime. Led 35-28 at half and got up by 5 in the second OT, but could not finish it off. Led by senior forward Brock Voight with 30 points.

WARHAWKS beat Pitt-Bradford 86-74.  The game was a back and forth for the first ten minutes until Chislom completed a three point play giving the WARHAWKS a lead, 18-15 that they would maintain the rest of the way building it to eleven points 45-34 by the time the half ended.  The lead held at double digits the entire second half reaching it's high point of twenty with six and half minutes remaining before Pitt-Bradford made a run down the stretch reducing it twelve by the buzzer.  M Barnstable continued his scoring surge leading the way with 29 points while his brother Delvin added a double-double 21-10.  Chislom also scored in double figures with 11.  The WARHAWKS hit 13 of 28 three pointers with the Barnstable brothers leading the way with 9 of 15.  Barker finished with 7 assists.

Carter Capsrtan was cleared to play last night and saw 13 minutes.  His stat line isn't all that but once he gets some more time on the floor he will be a boost to the WARHAWKS rotation.

The WARHAWKS finally play at home this Wednesday when Hope comes to Williams Center.  The game is part of a twin bill which also features the womens' team (2-0) against out of conference rival Illinois Wesleyan.  This is going to be a really fun night of basketball.

SP manhandled Webster 80-47 yesterday.

They're currently trailing hosts #21 IWU 38-28 at the half.

IWU is considerably bigger than Point, with a couple of 6'9" players and a couple more at 6'7".

Yet they're doing a pretty good job on the boards down just 19-17.

Point is shooting well, 6/13 from 3.

Point has 8 assists on 10 baskets, which I felt was one of the problems against St. Olaf, especially down the stretch of the second half. I don't have stats on this... But I'd say many of the misses are on individual moves/1 on 1, rather than misses that flow out of the motion offense. One thing I noticed is that the ball nearly always goes down on the floor after a catch. Dribble penetration is a key in Point's motion, but I think more ball movement and person movement would help against the 1 on 1, especially vs a much larger team (who already has 5 blocked shots at the half).

The on-ball defense looks much better, as well as the ball-screen defense, compared to game #1. But, if a guy does turn the corner, I'd like to see someone step up and stop the ball sooner.

We'll see how the second half goes!

Wow. Point beats the #1 team in the world...well, ok, just IWU, but still...great win on their home floor.

Finished the game on a 13-2 run.

I missed a good portion of the second half but caught the last 5 minutes or so. Point looked like they had fight today and they wanted the victory more than IWU.

One thing - IWU was in a tough game last night against Yeshiva and they looked like the more-tired team, despite the fact both teams played yesterday.

Point made plays on the defensive end, which they didn't do against St. Olaf. They looked good today against a good team!

Great win for Pointers anyone know where Quintin Winterfeldt is or if he's injured? I was told he was their number 1 addition coming into the season so what's going on. Nice to Landan Out there a little more and he showed signs of big things to come the big guy can run the floor, bang down low and knock down the 3!

Generally agree.  Some D1 coaches ought to get this tape.

Does anyone have any insight on the over and back call on the errant pass that gave Calvin the ball near the end.....looked like the Titan player (Carter Thomas) clearly intercepted the ball and landed on both sides of half court, but the video was very poor.  Wrong call?  Appeared so.  I think he gets to establish position before he can go over and back. Annoucners weren't helpful in clarifying but that was not Dave McHugh out there.  ;D
