WARHAWKS: 89
Northland: 46

WARHAWKS score first and never trailed.  The lead was 10 after 10 minutes and 20 when the 20 minute first half ended.  After thirty minutes it had grown to 30 and it finished at 40+.  Dominating in the paint the WARHAWKS shot 60% from the floor, outrebounded the Saints 48-28 and outscored them 64-18.  Delvin Barnstable led the way with 15 points while Trevon Chislom (14) and Elijah Lambert (10) also scored in double figures.  Drew Fisher pulled down a team leading 6 rebounds, had 3 assists and a steal to go along with his 7 points.  Thirteen WARHAWKS scored in the contest.

GT,   I would suggest  Juniors which is connected to the Radisson hotel on the South end of town and closest to the site of the basketball game or the West Wind which is on the North side of town

Interesting coaching philosophy as applied by Marquette's Shaka Smart - counting the number of EGBs per game...

EGBs, or energy generating (or giving) behavior... or as he defines them "anything you do that gives energy." ie slapping the floor, giving teammate a pat on back, chest bumps, acknowledging a teammate's good play, etc.

MU tallied more than 3,000 in its win on Tuesday over Seton Hall.

Saturday, Dec. 31:
La Crosse at Bethel W 84-53

WIAC looking to go 14-0
WIAC goes 10-4. I didn't think Stout would lose both games in De Pere and Oshkosh shocked by Marian.

UW-La Crosse   2-0   11-2
UW-Oshkosh   2-0   9-4
UW-Whitewater   1-1   10-3
UW-Eau Claire   1-1   9-4
UW-Stevens Point   1-1   8-5
UW-Stout   1-1   4-7
UW-Platteville   0-2   7-6
UW-River Falls   0-2   6-7

WIAC goes 56-30 in non-conference action, so far. That's only a winning percentage of 65%. Stout has a nonconference game vs Finlandia at the end of the month and also had their Buena Vista game postponed...not sure if they'll find time to make that up.

If Van Calster isn't dressed tonight for the Pointers game against the Warhawks, I'd have to think he needs surgery and won't be available the rest of the season.  Initial prognosis said he was going to rest for a few weeks and see where he was at.  If he wasn't able to play after those initial few weeks, the option was surgery.

Greek Tragedy

La Crosse moves from 12th to 10th in this week's poll. Oshkosh drops like a rock from 19th to just 21 points. Whitewater at 7 points.

Based on overall records and depending on the next 12 conference games, it looks like La Crosse is the only safe bet, so far, for a Pool C spot. I imagine Oshkosh's SOS is through the roof, but 8-4 the rest of the way is probably their limit.

I'd say it ended up being a disappointing 2022 for WIAC MBB. All three teams lost in the second round of the NCAA tournament, including two at home. I thought we had three strong senior led teams to make deep tournament runs, but not to be. And the start to this season has been rather down. Underperforming mightily in the nonconference compared to the past. No teams really standing out among the pack.

New year and conference play resumes tonight!

Greek Tragedy

UW-Platteville (7-6, 0-2)     @   UW-La Crosse (11-2, 2-0)
Platteville has two OT conference losses at home. La Crosse should handle business.

UW-Oshkosh (9-4, 2-0)     @   UW-Eau Claire (9-4, 1-1)
The Titans are Jekylll and Hyde. Play well, lose poorly. Oshkosh lost to Marian while Eau Claire smoked them. I'll take the home upset.

UW-River Falls (6-7, 0-2)     @   UW-Stout (4-7, 1-1)
River Falls looked good at home over the holidays. Stout looked horrible on the road during the holidays. Stout with the win.

UW-Whitewater (10-3, 1-1)  @   UW-Stevens Point (8-5, 1-1)
Whitewater has won 6 in a row. Point split down in Texas. Point with the narrow victory.

Getting dominated on the boards, can't defend the rim and your best player playing only 4 minutes in the first half is normally not a recipe for much success...but Point is only down 2 at half, 37-35.

Greek Tragedy

Better than La Crosse losing 32-21 to Platteville at home.

Oshkosh trails Eau Claire 25-20.

No defense at Stout. River Falls leads 43-34.

All at the half.

Point loses 79-76 to Whitewater. Out-rebounded by 14. 10-17 from the line. Whitewater goes 17-20. Despite being outrebounded by 14, Point actually attempted and made one more shot that Whitewater.

Platteville hammers La Crosse 64-41.

River Falls leading Stout by 10 with 2 minutes to go.

Eau Claire wins 51-48.

Can we finally get the WIAC out of the top 25? :P
Whitewater might be the best team. ;)

Platteville took advantage of LaX's cold shooting for a 64-41 win at LaX. Logan Pearson led the Pioneers with 20 points and Julian Samuels came off the bench with 14. Platteville out rebounded La X many on the offensive end which led to 2nd chance points. Platteville took a 11 point lead at half and stretched it in the opening minutes of the 2nd half not sure of the exact time but they held La X scoreless for over 5 minutes to start the 2nd half.

Eau Claire at Whitewater is a huge game on Saturday. Winner of that should be in the top 25 or pretty close I think.
