UW-Stout at Buena Vista rescheduled for Friday February 17th at 5pm CT in Storm Lake.

Seems like both could miss their conference tournament, so one extra game won't hurt anyone.

Greek Tragedy

As usual, trying to keep up with all the posts in here...

Stout (4-10, 1-4) at Whitewater (11-5, 2-3)
The Blue Devils put a scare into the Eagles last time out, falling 71-68. The wheels have fallen off a bit in Whitewater as they've dropped two straight against title contenders Eau Claire and Oshkosh. I don't see the Warhawks dropping 3 straight.

Oshkosh (11-5, 4-1) at La Crosse (13-3, 4-1)
The Titans took care of business at home with a win over the Falcons before blowing out the Warhawks in the 2nd half. Do they have things figured out? La Crosse returns home after getting wins over two of the WIAC's bottom feeders. It's the Wacky WIAC so Oshkosh escapes with a W.

River Falls (8-8, 2-3) at Platteville (10-6, 3-2)
The Falcons have won 2 of 3, albeit against Stout and Stevens Point, wins are wins and they gain confidence. Speaking of confidence, the Pioneers have won at La Crosse and at Eau Claire recently. Could this be a trap game? I think not.

Eau Claire (11-5, 3-2) at Stevens Point (8-8, 1-4)
After getting wins over Oshkosh and Whitewater by a combined 4 points, the Blugolds fell at home to Platteville by 7. Point hasn't won a conference game since the beginning of December and their last two losses weren't even close. No word on Buchanan's availability, so that won't help. The visitors should roll out of town with a comfortable win.

6'2" Franklin G, Will Gardner, committed to Platteville.

Steckbauer explodes for 30 points in the Oshkosh comeback win over La Crosse 78-73. It'll be Steckbauer the rest of the way with Booth now out for the year with a knee injury.

Brock Voigt out for Eau Claire tonight. Is he injured?

tomt4525

Buchanan back for Point and Van Calster is suited up.

Actually answering my own question. B. Voigt is in a walking boot and is out. UWEC is a drastically different team without him.

PauldingLightUP

Mike Blair breaks it down. B. Voigt with a sprained ankle. Huschka with a broken finger, he had surgery and will be out a couple of weeks.

PauldingLightUP

Look up and all of a sudden Platteville is in second place in the conference with the head to head win over La Crosse at the moment.

palum

Platteville wins their 4th straight conference game with a 79-66 win over RF in Platteville.  Game was tied at the half and RF stayed in the game until the last couple of minutes.  Julian Samuels led the way for Platteville with 20 points. Platteville will host WW on Wednesday.

Greek Tragedy

Point shocks the basketball world and beats Eau Claire (ok, not really). Obviously a big loss for Eau Claire not having Voigt play. Also a big difference for Point getting Buchanan back.

Great day for sports for me. United beat City in the Manchester Derby, Liverpool lost and the Pointers won.

Stout: 60
WARHAWKS: 87

Stout opened up the scoring and took an early lead 9-2 before the WARHAWKS got a boost of energy from Jameer Barker off the bench and  combined with Trevon Chislom the two scored the game's next eight points to take a 10-9 lead five and half minutes into the game.  The WARHAWKS would hold the lead the rest of the way building it to thirteen, 42-29, at half and to a high of twenty-seven a couple of minutes before the end.  The WARHAWKS were able to dominate in the paint outscoring the Blue Devils 52-22 and went 20-24 from the free throw line.  Six WARHAWKS, led by Delvin Barnstable's 16, scored in double figures.  Barker (14), Miles Barnstable (14), Carter Capstran (11), Chislom (11) and Elijah Lambert (10) were the other double figurer scorers.  Lambert and D Barnstable led WARHAWK rebounders with 9 and 7 respectively.

Blue Devil guard Brody Fox led all scorers with 22 and had 7 rebounds.  A 6'6" sophomore guard who I thought was a really nice player.  Someone I'd expect to be hearing a lot more about as his career progresses.

Why oh why couldn't Vogt sprain his ankle last week.  The dude ate us alive.

The WIAC is a mess right now. I suppose that's a good thing, unless you want lots of participants in the NCAA tournament. Still 8 conference games to go, so at this point, there's only a slim possibility the WIAC gets a Pool C spot...depending on results around the country, of course.  SEVEN regular season losses should give you a decent shot at a Pool C bid, but also remember you're adding another conference tournament loss in there as well. So, EIGHT total losses going into the tournament puts you on the fence and you're not going to sleep well Sunday night prior to the selection show on Monday. There's 10 regions now and the WIAC is in Region 9. This puts the WIAC in competition with the MWC, MIAC, ARC and UMAC. None of those conferences are as strong as the WIAC in terms on SOS (I'm guessing), so that's a positive for the conference.

In the MIAC, Carleton 12-2, 7-2 and St. John's 10-4, 7-2 lead the way. Illinois College is 15-1, 7-0 in the MWC. No one else seems like a threat in that conference to steal a Pool C bid from the WIAC. The ARC has a few teams with similar records than the WIAC teams, so we need to keep an eye on them. the UMAC is a one-bid league.

Oshkosh 12-5, 5-1
La Crosse 13-4, 4-2
Platteville 11-6, 4-2
Whitewater 12-5, 3-3
Eau Claire 11-6, 3-3

Stevens Point 9-8, 2-4
River Falls 8-9, 2-4
Stout 4-11, 1-5

Since the beginning of the new year, Platteville has gone 4-0 in conference play, including wins at La Crosse and at Eau Claire. Oshkosh has gone 3-1, losing at Eau Claire but rebounding against Whitewater and at La Crosse. The Eagles have gone 2-2 that includes home losses to Platteville and Oshkosh. Whitewater has also gone just 2-2 with losses to Eau Claire and Oshkosh. Eau Claire had big wins against Oshkosh and Whitewater, but have dropped their last two to Platteville and Stevens Point.

Stout at Eau Claire
Stout makes the short trip to Eau Claire where the Blugolds will try to lick their wounds after dropping their last 2. Consider their wounds licked.

Stevens Point at Oshkosh
Big rivalry game at Kolf as Point is feeling pretty good after upsetting Eau Claire. Oshkosh is rolling now and won't be polite hosts to the Dawgs.

Whitewater at Platteville
Whitewater got back on track vs Stout, but Platteville is the hottest team in the league. The Pioneers should continue to ride the wave and hold off the Warhawks.

La Crosse at River Falls
Tricky trip north to River Falls, but the Eagles seem to play better on the road anyway. Look for a close win by the visitors.

I've only seen two WIAC game streams this year....Oshkosh at Platteville and Oshkosh at LaCrosse. Both games the Titans were being blown out through 65% of the game, only to climb back in and win. Saw above that Cole Booth is out, that hurts the Titans outside game. Very impressed they kept their cool being down like 15 in both abovementioned games.

  Back to NESCAC now.

Check out this week's episode of the D3 datacast YouTube channel. This week, they talk about Pool C and they know a lot more than I do. 2 posters on this site, knightslappy and Ziggy, run it. Great stuff. Subscribe and watch all their episodes. Very informative.
