Wow Hanson getting a sixth year. Huge news for Falcons.

Wow. That's great news. They could be pretty good next year.

Dernbach confirmed one of my suspicions last night on Hoopsville. Ethan Anderson is playing through injury, hip issues specifically. The sure cause of his decrease in production lately.

Thus, POTY race still wide open with 8 games to go.

AmherstRules

Is POTy a big deal in WIAC ?  Always viewed it as more a "team" league.

Injuries impacted that recent game on both sides....Booth can really shoot the 3 and he's apparently out. May hurt Oshkosh too.

Datacast guys think they're both in....unless Eau Claire messes that up.

My personal feeling is all these teams are top 2 in NESCAC.
World travel isn't all its cracked up to be. Neither is Duluth/Superior.

He field goal percentage dropped so significantly that it had to be an injury.  I am not saying we should know, but it would be fascinating to know how many players are playing through some injury or other illness at any given time.

I personally think the POTY is big deal. But, that's up for everyone's opinion.

I've liked Oshkosh's rotation the past few games in Booth's absence. Covering well I think and they shot the three decent too.

Greek Tragedy

Former regular poster Bob Quillman (Titan Q) used a point system to help gauge your team. You'd get +1 point for a road win and -1 point for a home loss. You'd get zero points for a home win or away loss.

Oshkosh (5-1): +2 (2 road wins)
La Crosse (4-2): +1 (3 road wins, 2 home losses)
Eau Claire (3-3): +1 (2 road wins, 1 home loss)
Platteville (4-2): 0 (2 road wins, 2 home losses)
Whitewater (3-3): 0 (2 road wins, 2 home losses)
River Falls (2-4): -1 (1 road win, 2 home losses)
Stevens Point (2-4): -1 (1 road win, 2 home losses)
Stout (1-5): -2 (2 home losses)

6 teams have played 3 home/3 away
Platteville has played 4 home/2 away
Eau Claire has played 2 home/4 away

I think it's a big deal. I'm not sure about WIAC teams being in the Top 2 of the NESCAC. Oshkosh comes to mind, but they've had some head scratchers...Marian and Ripon. La Crosse was looking good but lost to St. Mary's and have dropped 2 of their 3 conference home games. Eau Claire? They lost to Stevens Point.

Oshkosh shooting a robust 70 percent from the field in the first half and doubled up UWSP, 48-24.  No other way to describe their effort on the defensive end besides it's leaving a lot to be desired.  They look like they want to be anywhere besides a basketball court.

Greek Tragedy

I'll politely disagree. I've seen Point play a lot worse and lose by a lot less. It's 65-28. Yeah, you read that right.

Disagree on their effort or what are we talking here?  They aren't beating Oshkosh to loose balls and Oshkosh is getting the ball on offense wherever they want to.

WW blows out Platteville 85-65 at Bo Ryan Court. 2 things that  led to Platteville's loss were WW's defense forced multiple turnovers and WW shot 69% from beyond the 3 point line. Each team wore warm up shirts with DG4 on them and there was a moment of silence before the game to remember WW's Derek Gray who passed away this past summer. As competitive as the WIAC is on the court it's good to see the respect they have for each other. I never thought I would see a year were WW beats Platteville in basketball and Platteville beats WW in football.

badgerwarhawk

WARHAWKS: 85
Platteville: 65

The game was close for the majority of the first half.  The WARHAWKS were tied three times but never trailed in the game.  Leading by seven 30-23 with three and half minutes remaining the WARHAWKS had a run of 10-3 to take a comfortable fourteen point lead, 40-26, at the half.  The WARHAWKS outshot the Pioneers 57% to 32% and hit on 6 of 7 three pointers.  The Pioneers got to within eleven after 5-6 minutes of the second half but the WARHAWKS quickly put down the run and eventually pushed the lead to a high of 25 a couple of times before the finish.  Trevon Chislom led the WARHAWKS with 21 points and 6 rebounds.  Miles Barnstable added 20, Delvin Barnstable 14 and Jameer Barker 13.  Both Barnstables also pulled down 6 rebounds and Barker finished off a double-double with 10 assists.  Speaking to palum's comments the WARHAWKS shot 69% (9-13) from 3 point range and   outscored the Pioneers 22-9 off of turnovers.

Logan Pearson (21) led the Pioneers.

My respect to the Pioneer program for their gesture of kindness.

palum, lets hope we don't see another one for another one anytime soon.  ;D ;)

Greek Tragedy

Oshkosh (13-5, 6-1) at Stout (4-12, 1-6)
The Titans are rolling now, winning 3 of the last 4 games by double digits including a 36-point beat down to the Pointers. The Blue Devils made it a game at nearby Eau Claire, the only team to beat Oshkosh in conference play, but I don't see them competing with Oshkosh here. They lost by 23 at Oshkosh and I see a similar spread in Menomonie tomorrow.

River Falls (8-10 2-5) at Whitewater (13-5, 4-3)
River Falls put a scare into visiting La Crosse, finally losing by just 6. Whitewater walked into Platteville and cruised to a 20-point win. After a long trip southeast, this could get much worse than the 15-point Warhawks win the last time they met.

La Crosse (14-4, 5-2) at Eau Claire (12-6, 4-3)
The big game is in Eau Claire with both teams keeping their slim Pool C hopes alive. La Crosse escaped River Falls and the Blugolds topped Stout. The Eagles won in the reverse fixture, so it's Eau Claire's chance to return the favor. This game will also be key for conference tournament seeding and regional ranked head to head purposes. We'll go chalk with the hosts winning by single digits.

Platteville (11-7, 4-3) at Stevens Point (9-9, 2-5)
Both teams are licking their wounds after being humiliated last time out. Platteville lost by 20 at home and Point lost by almost twice that in Oshkosh. Platteville's Pool C hopes are all but dead, so conference tournament seed is what they're playing for. Point is just trying to make the tournament as they're tied with River Falls for the last spot. Point will try to do the double after surprising Platteville in OT down there. Let's just go with Point because I have no idea.

UWW shot 69% from three? They could be dangerous but the overall season scores suggest otherwise.

Greek Tragedy

Whitewater is dangerous, whether they shoot 69% from 3 or not. They are very athletic. They have 5 losses but none of them are "clunkers". They lost to Hope when Evan Thomas was playing, NCC when the Helwig brothers combined for 48, Eau Claire, Oshkosh and La Crosse. However, the rest of their nonconference schedule puts them behind the 8 ball because their SOS is so bad.
