Payne leaving UWRF. Would be huge if another WIAC got him.

I doubt Payne would be entering the portal to go to another D3 school.  I would be shocked if he ended up anywhere that he wasn't getting scholarship money.

Agree, it seems doubtful he would go to another WIAC.  Plus doesn't the WIAC still have the rule regarding sitting out a year when you transfer within the conference. (After 2nd year?)

Wow Pearson also done at Platteville.

These are big blows to these teams!

Greek Tragedy

I saw Payne in person once. He wasn't that impressive at all to me. They played St. Scholastica and he missed about 5 bunnies near the rim, cough the ball up on numerous occasions and was hardly a "force" in the post. I realize it was only one game, so take that for what it's worth. I know he scored 25 or so the previous night...against Northland and was 2nd in the conference in scoring and 3rd in rebounding. He was also named 1st team AC. I believe that as deserved and the numbers back that up. I just must have seen him on one of his few off-nights.

Payne was sporadic. Easy to mis-judge on one performance.I assume the info is legit, but without confirmation that it came from a source, doubt remains.

No doubt he is in it. But where can he land with a scholarship? If he goes, Jack Leifker is a good freshman backup.

Where can he land a scholarship??  Um....any of a multitude of D2's all around the midwest.  Payne is a D2 talent for sure...maybe Ben Johnson offers him a roster spot at Minnesota so he can be on the team with his brother.  Roster spot doesn't mean scholarship I should mention.  The most likely scenario in my mind is that Payne goes to a D2 NSIC school in Minnesota, certainly something to watch though.  I don't like seeing all this talent leave the WIAC, but it's probably here to stay now that the transfer portal is in place.

WLUK gets the early moving send off scoop on Oshkosh. Bus to Parkside for a practice this morning. Then bus to Chicago airport and fly to Pittsburgh. Then another one hour bus to Alliance.

Do not think Payne will go to any place that does not offer him a scholarship.
