This is the way to step down. Well done. Give your assistant the one year interim deal.
It worked out well for Coach Lewis at UWO after being named the interim head coach when Coach Juckem left for WashU.

Good work, like usual, Tom.

Not a big deal, but Jake Fisher (Whitewater) was a walk on at D1 Western Illinois, not an incoming freshman.

Wow! Never would have thought this.  Congrats to Pat Miller on a very good career in the WIAC. As a player, Ast and head coach. I reserve a little because I have not seen an official announcement, but if true, wow. He was one of the best.

I clicked on it too many times, so you get to look at it for free a couple of times, then it blocks you and makes you pay for it. So, if you click on it, I would probably copy and paste it somewhere so you can read it again...or post it if you want. I skimmed it, so I don't remember all the details.

Gotta be a sign of the times in higher ed.

The amount of head jobs that opened this past year in the Midwest (Lake Forest, Carroll, MSOE, Ripon, UWSP, UWL, UWW) along with Finlandia, Cardinal Stritch and Iowa Wesleyan closing. This is not your father's college experience.

It's really everywhere, not just the Midwest.

UW-River Falls 2023-2024 schedule is here.

Non cons at UW-Superior Tournament (n Concordia Moorhead, at UW-Superior), vs Gustavus Adolphus, at St. Mary's, vs Northwestern, at Crown, vs Viterbo, vs St. Olaf, at Hamline, vs Northland, vs North Central (Minn).

That's five UMAC, five MIAC, and one NAIA.

Seems pretty standard considering where River Falls is. Sure, they have a weekend trip or two (Wheaton last year, Neb. Wes. etc), but they are always going to have a lot of UMAC and MIAC opponents. They just can't beat up on Finlandia every year now.

Coach Miller's stepping down doesn't come as a surprise to me.  The rumor has been circulating for a couple of years and I thought it was going to happen after his 20th season.  But then there was Covid and that screwed up season.  That was followed by a season that by his standards didn't measure up.  But now is the perfect time.  We're coming off a Final Four run with the bulk of the team returning.  The program is in great shape for whoever assumes the reins.  I just wasn't sure whether he wanted to make a run at his fourth national championship before heading off.

Our basketball program has been really lucky to have maintained the coaching stability that we've had.  First Vandermulen for a couple of decades and then Miller for the same.  That kind of stability leads to success.  Who's next?

La Crosse gets a commit from Milwaukee Tech 6'3" G, Tarek Abdelkireem.  Tarek brings plenty of outside shooting to La Crosse, from what I can tell, he has 3 years of eligibility.

Ypu can add two more names to the list of recruits for the Eagles. Both Domonic Pitts and Evan Moherek, graduates of Racine St. Catherine's, who went 25-2 and lost in the Sectional Final last season, plan to attend La Crosse and try out for the basketball team.

Mohorek averaged 14.6 PPG while Pitts averaged 13.5 PPG.
