Former Rhinelander Hodag, Jacksen Smith, is on the roster for UWSP. He committed to Superior as a senior but doesn't look like he played at all for them.  Jacksen was a 1st Team All Conference performer as a senior.  I certainly could be wrong but I would guess he doesn't have a set roster spot.

Any Pointer fans attend the preseason social?

Unfortunately, I had company and couldn't make it.  This year was a pot luck vs. the past pig roasts. The gentleman who always provided the pig roasts unfortunately passed away some time ago.  I'm told it was an excellent event with a really nice crowd.

Former Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln coach Dan Witter has joined the men's basketball staff at UW-Stevens Point.

Coach Dernbach has assembled quite a coaching staff.

This is bound to happen with a new coaching staff as well as a large incoming recruiting class.

Former Pointer basketball player, Gus Foster, has transferred out of UWSP to go run track at Southwest Minnesota St.

I'm a little disappointed to learn that Stevens Point doesn't have a block of tickets set aside for their exhibition down in Madison against Wisconsin on Wednesday, November 1. I'm assuming their don't have a bus going down either. I guess I'll be on my own.

From past WIAC teams and years, they give block for parents and family of the players.

I was informed that there is indeed a few sections for Pointer fans down at the Kohl Center. There's a 100 level section and a 300 level section. I was too cheap to buy the 100 level section, so I went with the 300 level tickets. They were $15 a piece with a $3 fee for each ticket. You save yourself another $10 fee by ordering over the phone rather than online.

While I was in the spending mood, I called the UWSP athletic office and bought four "Premium Pointer Experience" tickets for the Edgewood game. For $30 a ticket (no extra fees), you get all you-can-eat appetizers, entrees, dessert and 2 drink tickets starting an hour before the game. Not bad since a general admission ticket runs you $10.

I hope other schools give this a try.

Even doing it once or twice a season is probably a good way to raise money.  But we will know more after Stevens Point gets going.

I think it will be a fun experience. Eating at a table and watching the game. That can work. I tried eating a pizza at a movie once....once. It doesn't work well eating it in your lap in the dark.

I hope I'm jumping the gun with this...but when Mason Prey committed to UWSP, he made posts on social media for the public to see.  Those posts are gone.  This normally has meant that player left the team for whatever reason.  Like I said, really hope this isn't the case for Prey, he's got a bright future

He was in the pictures at the preseason social, which was great to see...but there was plenty of time transpire between the social and now.

6'6" Eau Claire North F, Andrew Rocksvold, has committed to the hometown Blugolds.

Platteville is doing something similar at football games with Potosi Brewing. They say they will try doing something for basketball. It's another way to raise money.

Don't think you are jumping the gun, heard from a trusted source that he "quit" the team.

Definitely not what I wanted to hear.  It is not uncommon for players to leave teams at the D3 level, but Prey was a highly sought after recruit that is very talented.  I wonder if he will matriculate to another school and I'm sure I won't hear this info but I'll continue to wonder what drove him to quitting, if indeed he did.
