Coach Dernbach mentioned yesterday on the radio the roster sat at 25 guys.  There were only 22 on the roster for the Purple/Gold game tonight.  Sam Coulthard and Austin Schaumburg weren't listed.  The 25th guy is a mystery to me.

Coach Dernbach was on the radio this morning.  The most interesting discussion I thought centered around having JV games this year.  I don't know if that's normal but it's certainly good for the players who aren't seeing regular time in the games.  There are 25 players on the roster right now, easily can fill a JV team and get them some minutes with the size of that roster.  Coach also mentioned the fact that not everyone will dress or travel on game days because of it.

In the context of the conversation, it didn't seem to mean anything...but newcomers specifically mentioned included Josiah Butler, Seth Miron, Cal Krohn and Malik Abdul-Wahid.
Pretty sure all levels of D3 are now doing JV games. Helps enrollment and development.

That may be true, but I have listened to most UWSP radio shows for years now....and not once has there been mention of having JV games.  So...that was interesting to me and definitely a positive development for having such a large roster.

Gosh, I would have loved to play a JV schedule!

UW-Oshkosh enters with a full boat roster of 23. No surprises really from what I see.

Gone hunting. Heart must've not been in basketball anymore.

That's too bad. With Plamann and Peterson gone, he was probably going to get a lot of playing time and opportunities. He already was averaging 25+ minutes a game.

Eau Claire's roster is back...for now anyways.

Game day at Duluth. Should stay up now.

Meanwhile, UW-Stevens Point plays at UW-Madison tonight and still no 23-34 roster up.

I know Sports Information departments are over worked and under staffed. Hard times for everyone. We must cherish the work these people do do. A thankless job. That's why I didn't really appreciate the call for rosters to be up on October 16 by many on Twitter. When it's up, it'll be up.

Point has updated their roster.

Landon Van Calster not on the roster, which I hope is an oversight.  I have seen him in practice pictures.

He was also one of the 22 listed on the one-sheet for the purple/gold game. The posted roster sits at 21, so hopefully an oversight as I like what he has, if he can just stay out of foul trouble.

Social media post about the Purple/Gold game had Landon on it, he was also at media day and took pictures in uniform.  If it was an oversight I think it would have quickly been resolved, still not on the roster.  He still has UWSP Basketball on his social media profile, could he have a significant injury that will keep him off the floor this year?

Buchanan, Coleman, Butler, Abdul-Wahid and Krohn starting for UWSP.

Well, it's 42-22 at the half and there were times (probably?) when we were down that much to fellow D3 schools last year, so I can't complain. I have been impressed that Point has tried to go inside against the obviously bigger Badgers interior. Instead of just giving up the inside and jacking up 3s, they've tried to get the ball inside on occasion. It's basically 1 and done on possessions, but I suppose that's not surprising.

It's looks like Butler has improved and I've been impressed with Krohn.

edit: I got my Josiah's mixed up. I had Gillie in my head, who played last year, but it was definitely the freshman Josiah Butler who was outstanding.

They've also missed a good number of semi open shots, so if a few of them fall, the score looks a lot better.
