Point goes up to Canada and wins their 33rd game in a row over the ex-WIACers, UW-Superior, 58-53. After being down 36-31 at the break, Point only gives up 17 points in the 2nd half. The Dawgs ' shooting woes from deep continue as they were just 1-11. They were 11-13 from the line, though. Ryan Genrich came off the bench and led the visitors with 14. Abdul-Wahid and Butler were the other Pointers in double-figures with 13 and 10, respectively. "Unhappy" Seth Miron started and played 34 minutes and contributed 9 rebounds. "Graduating at the semester" Jake Buchanan also started and played 28 minutes. The Pointers have the biggest test of the year when they travel to Trine this weekend.

What did Buchanan major in? Is he going to Wall Street? His dad is a big time asset manager in Appleton as I recall.

Getting better Greek. Still need to improve and win a bunch of games this month.

Greek Tragedy

They have some work to do.

Platteville (6-1) @ Hope, @ North Central IL , vs Calvin, @ Trine
The MIAA is killing it with Calvin and Trine the ranked teams and Hope undefeated. NCC is 2-0 in the CCIW. Nothing less than 2-2 would probably be considered good.

Whitewater (5-1) @ Hope, vs Lawrence, @ Marian, vs North Central MN (at River Falls), vs Northland (at River Falls)
Whitewater should go 5-0, though the trip to Hope will be tricky.

Oshkosh (4-1) @ Whitworth, @ Whitman, vs Ripon, vs SNC, vs Neb Wes, vs Babson
Going out west is usually tough sledding for anyone. Then they also have SNC, a good Neb Wes team and a solid Babson team. Let's not forget that Ripon upset Carthage, who just beat Whitewater. 4-2?

Stevens Point (4-2) @ Trine, vs North Central MN, vs Calvin, vs MSOE, vs Illinois Wesleyan
Point runs through the two big MIAA teams and also hosts IWU, who was ranked last week. 2-3

Eau Claire (4-3) @ Wartburg, @ Superior, @ Bethel, vs St. Olaf
The trip to Superior is probably the toughest game. 3-1.

La Crosse (4-4) vs Luther, @ WLC, @ St. Mary's
The trip over to WLC will be a test. Ask Point. 2-1

Stout (4-4) @ Loras, vs Babson (at Oshkosh Arena), vs Neb Wes (at Oshkosh Arena)
The Blue Devils have their work cut out for them, but anything is possible with Brody Fox on your team. 1-2

River Falls (3-4) vs St. Olaf, at Hamline, vs Northland, vs North Central MN
The Flacons have 3 of 4 at home, so could go 3-1.

After last night's radio show, I am 100 percent convinced that people involved with UWSP's program are reading these boards...specifically seeing Shinetime's garbage.

The main talking point's with Coach Dernbach was getting an identity on defense as well as how close the team as a whole is.  Hmmm

On top of that, the 2 players on the show were Josiah Butler and Seth Miron.  They sure didn't seem like kids that planned on bolting after one season.  Things can certainly change but that was my take.  Interesting in my mind is that Seth specifically said that his decision came down to Point basketball or Platteville football, after committing to Oshkosh basketball they weren't included in his final decision.  With Josiah, a big part of his decision was due to proximity of home.  There are a few D1's close to home but if that is something important to Josiah and his family there aren't many options.

Good stuff. I'll have to listen to the show. I always forget about it, so thanks for posting a link as well.

Not sure when constitutes the end of the semester, but AJ Makinen has left the UWSP basketball team.  Buchanan is still listed on the roster, looks like he's sticking it out the rest of this season atleast.

WARHAWKS (6-1) rally from behind and beat Hope (4-1) 79-76

Hope led, by 10 at it's high point, for most of the first half.  The WARHAWKS managed a couple of ties and single possession leads but Hope had the advantage 41-37 at the midway point.  Hope maintained the lead for the first 9 minutes of the second half when the WARHAWKS pulled even 51-51 and took a lead that lasted a couple of minutes before Hope went on a 13-1 run taking their largest lead of the second half 66-56 with 5 minutes remaining.  Hope was still leading by 6, 76-70 with :33.  What followed was all WARHAWKS.  Their press generated three consecutive turnovers which were followed by Miles Barnstable sinking a three pointer, a mid-range jumper, a pair of free throws and Issac Verges's steal that led to a layup capping a 9-0 run to seal the win.

M.Barnstable: 35 points
Kelly: 13 points, 6 rebounds
Verges: 5 steals

Next: host Lawrence 12/13

Barnstable is really good.  Hope wins by 20 if he's not there.  But he was.

Nice win by Oshkosh in the great northwest, 79-68.

Lewis continues to play lots of freshman and sophomores to augment senior scorers Steckbauer and Mahoney. Joseph Adamson is doing an admirable job backing up the injured Jonah Rindflesch. Wonder if a 3 guard, 2 big line-up could work for Oshkosh once Rindflesch can return? Can't help but think about how good they'd be if Miron were there.

Another late road game tonight from Walla Walla WA vs. Whitman.

palum

Platteville beats Hope 61-57 in a rematch of the 1998 National Championship game.  Logan Pearson leads Platteville with 27 points.  Platteville was up 2 with 10 seconds left and at the line but they missed both FTs Hope gets the rebound but Pearson steals it and lays it in for the 4 point lead. Platteville plays at North Central on Wednesday.
