Chicken, you gotta let that go. Miron doesn't play for Oshkosh. Stop thinking about it.

Speaking of Seth Miron...it looks like he missed a shot with 3 seconds to go at Trine that would've capped off a massive comeback, only to fall 79-78 to a ranked opponent on their home floor.

I have no doubt Coach Dernbach isn't in the visitor's locker room slapping everyone on the back and telling them, "Great moral victory you guys!" But darn so close. I suppose, lots of ways to look at this. Of course, being down 10 at the break and 15.midway through the 2nd half isn't something you want to make a habit of. Point held Trine to 5-21 from 3, but apparently let them score at will inside the arc, 25-38! A Pointer team never wants to give up 79 points either.

On the flip side, they never gave up despite their 15-pt deficit with 13:13 to play (60-45). They actually out-rebounded Trine by 3 and shot 6-12 from 3. They did miss 7 FTs (16-23) so that needs to improve. Adul-Wahid had 22 and 8, but missed 4 FTs and Josiah Butler had 25, but had half (5) of the team's total TOs. Point did shoot 49.1%, but Miron missed the shot at the end to finish just 2-7 for 4 points. I'm definitely not blaming him for the loss, but I wonder if he was the 1st option on the last play. I didn't see the game, so I'm just going by the PbP. He got the rebound on the missed FT with 17 seconds to go, but Point did not call a timeout.

Lots of positives to take away from this game and, of course, lots to work on. This young team can't hang their head too much, almost knocking off an undefeated ranked opponent on their home floor. Baby steps.

I watched, Point was very competitive. Both teams shot high % and it came down to last second shots. Good look floater bounced around the rim and out for Miron. They'll win some WIAC games, no doubt.

Trine guy here, I was impressed with the Pointers today.  Great comeback in the second half.  You could feel the momentum shift in the second half as UWSP could not miss and Trine went cold from beyond the arc.  I was surprised the last shot in the lane didn't fall, it was oh so close to going in.  Didn't realize Butler is a freshman, he sure doesn't play or look like a freshman.  He'll be a good one.  You have a couple other good freshman too so the future looks bright.

We were missing our starting center today, Emmanual Menganglo.  He's one of the better shot blockers in the nation.  Without that rim protection and rebounding that Manny gives us, we gave up a few too many baskets at the hoop.  Hoping he'll be back in a few weeks, I heard it was a non-basketball related injury to his hand, but he was heavily bandaged up and in a sling at the game today.

Good luck to the Pointers the rest of the season.  :)

Nice win by Oshkosh in the great northwest, 79-68.

Unfortunately, couldn't finish down the stretch in the second half of the second game in WA. Were down 9 and battled back to up 2, but couldn't finish and fell by 8. Cold shooting and Steckbauer foul trouble the story of Saturday night.

True, especially around the cup.  Lots of shots hanging but not falling. Would love to see the shot chart.

After nearly knocking off Trine, Point had a hard time putting away North Central (MN), a mid-table UMAC team. It was a sloppy game where North Central shot the lights out. They were 6 of 10 from 3 in the 1st half and finished 11 of 22. At a time, it really seemed like everything they threw up was going in, so I'm a little surprised they only shot 43% for the game. Point did have a 3 point lead going into the break and built it to 10. However, the visitors wouldn't go away and actually took the lead 56-55 midway through the 2nd half. But North Central went cold and Point went on a 12-0 run in the next 5+ minutes to finally put them away.

North Central had an impressive 17 assists on 21 made FGs, but that was offset by 19 TOs. Point, on the other hand, only had 9 assists on 24 made FGs. Point also had 13 TOs. North Central was led by Tanner Holtman, with 22, the only North Central player in double figures. Seth Miron led Point with 22 pts and 6 rebs. Butler had 14 and 5, and Buchanan finished with 12 and 4.

After the near comeback at Trine and struggling with North Central, it'll be nice to get an easy game next week when Point hosts #2 Calvin on Monday.

Platteville eased past North Central 80-65, but without Logan Pearson. Any insight? Injury?

Platteville wins without Logan Pearson. Did not have sound on my video feed so I don't know why he didn't play. Ben Probst led the Pioneers with 22 points.  Platteville shot over 50% from the 3 pt line.  Platteville has 2 weeks off for finals and Christmas break.  Next game is December 29th against Calvin.

Pearson was apparently in a walking boot last night. I don't know any details beyond that.

Clearly, they didn't need him thanks to that barrage late in the first half (they hit five three's in a row in the final five and a half minutes of the first half to help stretch a six point game to a 21 point game and cruised from there).

Lawrence: 55
WARHAWKS: 74

The WARHAWKS scored first and by the seven minute mark had taken the lead into double figures.  Holding Lawrence to 17 first half points the WARHAWKS led 43-17 when the half ended.  Not much changed in the second half.  Lawrence shot better but never got closer than 18 points. WARHAWKS shot 54% on the night.

Greek Tragedy

Not surprisingly, Point falls to #2 Calvin, 81-70. Calvin ran out to a 21-8 lead, but the hosts responded with a nice 17-6 run to cut it to just 2 points, 27-25 with about 6 minutes to play in the half. Calvin returned the favor and finished off the half on a 15-4 run, ending the half with a 42-29 lead.

The Knights' lead grew to 19 (68-49) before Point got it down to 9 with a minute to go. Overall, it was probably a comfortable win for the #2 team in the nation.

Four players scored in double figures for Calvin, led by Owen Varnado's 21. Uchenna Egekeze had 20, while the reigning Freshman of the Year, Jalen Overway, went for 17 and 14.

Josiah Butler, like usual, led Point with 20. Darrius Bolden came off the bench with 14 points and 5 dimes. Josiah Gillie also came off the bench and added 10 points.

Calvin shot 30-52 for 57.7%. They outrebounded the Dawgs 42-21. Point shot 42.6% (26-61), including 8-21 from 3. They did assist on 19 of 26 made FGs and also only turned the ball over 7 times while Calvin coughed it up 17. Point was a perfect 10-10 from the line while Calvin missed 10 FTs (12-22).

It was never going to be an easy task, so I suppose there are some positives to take away from the game. Two games at the end of the month in the Sentry Classic against MSOE (who we lost to last year) and IWU (whom we beat last year). If we win both of those games, we'll be 7-4 going into conference play, the same record we had last season.
