How does he keep getting big games lol?

48 fouls called....60 free throws attempted....Eckardt T'ed a kid up that fouled out an important player for Wausau East....I'd say, same ole Casey Eckardt.

I will also say, I don't think he was blatantly in favor of RF last night...I think he(along with one of his partners this time) were both brutal.  Eckardt needs to retire from reffing, plain and simple.  He was never good.

Platteville advances to Elite 8 with a 95-75 win over CWRU. Game was tied at 32 with 1 minute in the 1st half. Ben Probst scored 5 points in the final minute to take a 37-32 lead at halftime. That was a warm up for Probst he went on to score 27 points with 7 3pt baskets. Platteville made 15 of 27 from the 3pt line. Platteville will play the winner of Washington University and  Trine.  Platteville lost to Trine over the Christmas break earlier this year.

Wow. Nice choke job by Platteville. No other way to say it. How many FTs did they miss in the last minute? So disappointing. And you can't box out a purposely missed FT.

I normally try not to trash a team. I love the Pointers first and the WIAC 2nd. I was really pulling for them to make the Final Four. But honestly, it was harder to lose that game than to win it. You knew the guy had to purposely miss the 2nd FT and not only do you not box out, you foul the guy. How many FTs in a row did they miss in the last minute or so? You make one and the game is over. SMH. It's going to be a long off-season for the team and fans. It's so hard to make a run back to back. With Pearson coming back and hopefully Probst, they should be the favorite in the WIAC, but they'll be looking at bigger prizes next season.

They missed two in a row. One miss, one make, two misses. Trine feasted on Platteville's one-and-one opportunities.

Tough one. Earlier in the year I thought missed ft's seemed to be a weakness and in playoffs could be a problem. I will say, it appears the ft shooter crossed the ft line to rebound before the ball getting to the rim. Still tough and close.

Greek Tragedy

Platteville had the right guys at the line. Probst and Pearson are 85% FT shooters.

Really wonder why Pearson would come back. Is he getting a grad degree?  Pearson could transfer just for fun, maybe inside the conference close to home or any number of other options, likely in D2.

Hats off to all referees, including Casey E. You don't get to ref tournament games unless you are rated well by a commissioner. In a time when young people are declining to get into athletic officiating, because of increasing criticism, and low pay, increased complaining is not helping. We need to be advocating for better pay and acknowledging that refereeing is a DIFFICULT job. Do they all make mistakes? Of course. Do WE make mistakes DAILY? Of course.

I was told today from a veteran officiaL of many sports that several officials have expressed reluctance to referee River Falls High School basketball because of the large number of whiners on the team. I understand that.

Lets think of helping rather than hurting.

All-Region teams are out. Pearson and Gard get POTY and COTY honors.

Brody Fox gets on the 1st team All-Region as well.

Mile Barnstable makes the 2nd team.

Carter Huschka garners 3rd team All-Region.

Not bad for a down year for the WIAC.
