Former Hudson 6'0" G, Andre Renta, is leaving St Cloud St for the transfer portal.  Why am I posting that here before any decision is being made?  His family has a ton of connections to UWRF and I would expect that's where he ends up.  If this comes to fruition, it will add another dynamic guard to UWRF's arsenal, will be a very good team next year with Zac Johnson and Jack Leifker.

With the current landscape in College Basketball in regards to the Transfer Portal and NIL money, I appreciate being around the WIAC at the time I was even more now!  While I still follow it, it just doesn't have the same feel to it now as it used to!

Getting to watch guys like Rich Melzer, Vince Thomas, Tim Dworak, Jason Kalsow, Aubrey Lewis-Beyers, and on etc.. torment the rest of the league for a full four years was a thing of beauty! I have a feeling if any of those guys even stepped on a D3 campus right now, they'd have scholarship money being thrown at them and likely wouldn't have played more than two years at the D3 level.

Good for the guys getting opportunities that those before them might now have, but I have an even greater appreciation for the guys sticking it out for the duration of their career at one place than I probably used to...

You are not alone in that regard.

Greek Tragedy

Next year is the last year of the Covid players. I feel that these mass transfers will be a thing of the past, hopefully.

Platteville's website announced that Logan Pearson was named the NABC Division III Player of the Year.  For some reason I can't post a link.

What a comeback for the Pointers over the Blugolds tonight.

You can't make it up.

Aquinas' lack of execution down the stretch against Mineral Point (up 7 AND possession with under 0:30 remaining) reminded me of Platteville faltering against Trine (blew 10 point lead with 1:30 to play) less than a week ago...

Ugh. Don't remind me. I bet it hurts even more for the Pioneers to see Trine in the Final.

Congratulations to the UW-WHITEWATER WARHAWKS men's wheelchair basketball team 2024 NWBA NATIONAL CHAMPIONS.  The WARHAWKS defeated Southwest Minnesota State 81-59 in the quarter finals, Alabama 74-58 in the semis and Arizona 74-67 to win the championship.  The 14th in the history of the program.

On the January 25th Hoopsville Podcast Platteville's Head Coach Jeff Gard commented that he thought Trine was the best team in D3. This was after Trine beat Platteville in a Holiday Tournament. While Gard's prediction came true. I bet he would want to replay the last minute of the Elite 8 game over.

6'5" SPASH F, Nick Fox, committed to the hometown Pointers tonight.

Fox is a solid athlete who will probably be a solid defender at the next level, but this is strictly depth to me.  I hope they aren't taking Fox cuz they have already missed on higher priority targets, lots of guys still out there.
