6'1" De Pere G, Roan Demovsky, has committed to Eau Claire.

Greek Tragedy

Big win for Oshkosh over #9 Calvin. It took a miracle for #2 Platteville to beat Calvin at the IWU tournament. Calvin is now 0-3 after their two losses to ranked opponents last weekend, and now their loss to Oshkosh. The Titans looking to make amends from last year's last place WIAC finish. As previously mentioned, they lost to ranked St. John's, so not a bad start.

I watched about a third of the Oshkosh game.  It's interesting how many guys they are playing and how it seems they can go with a lot of combos. Their tempo is up, too.  They had some great scoring guards the past few years in Steckbauer and Mahoney, but this team seems to move it around much faster. Each team is different and it appears Matt Lewis has changed it up a bit to fit his young troops.

Greek Tragedy

Eau Claire drops one to host Marietta after leading by 10 at the break. EC picked last in the WIAC, while Marietta is picked 4th in the OAC. Marietta hit a jumper with 1 second left to take the game 64-62. Looks like the Blugolds let one get away.

Whitewater, picked 5th in the WIAC, drops an OT decision to Cornell (6th in the MWC) 75-73. The Warhawks came from 9 down at the break to take it to OT. They lead early in the extra frame, but couldn't hold on.

#16 Illinois Wesleyan got their 2nd win over a WIAC opponent today, traveling up to Stout for a 11 am game. Ouch! I'm sure there's good reason for that. IWU was up 40-27 and cruised in the 2nd half with Stout never really threatening. The Blue Devils shot 26.2% from  the field. Jacob Walczak shot 0-11, all from beyond the arc. Despite the low shooting percentage, they only lost by 12, which means they're better than Platteville, who lost to IWU by 20.

How on earth did River Falls lose to Crown?

If you shoot 3 for 25 from 3, you are not going to beat anybody.

La Crosse was impressive in the home debut last night, bombing North Park 91 to 62. 9 Eagles played at least 10 minutes in an up tempo barrage. The Eagles have a lot of weapons this year.

Greek Tragedy

NPU lost to WLC by 33. If you can break their press, you're gonna score. Apparently both teams had no problems breaking their press.

Stevens Point pulls away from Edgewood for 71-56 win. Another ugly half where they get off to a quick start and then go cold. At one point, they were 0-9 from 3 and had shot 25.9% near the end of the 1st half. Had it not been for back to back 3s at the end, Point obviously been behind.

Like last week, they seemed to get it together. The Dawgs shot nearly 52% after the break, but still 0-5 from 3. One of these games they'll actually start hitting from the outside. Josiah Butler got popped in the face twice and after the 2nd time, I don't believe he returned, playing only 19 minutes. Both caused nose-bleeds.

Adbul-Wahid had his way with 16 points. Miron missed a lot of close shots, but still managed 15. Crohn also missed a few bunnies and was the 3rd Pointer in double-figures with 12. Bolden had another outstanding all around game, 9 pts, 8 rebs, 3 steals and 3 assists.

I think we have to find some depth, especially at PG. Bolden played 35 minutes. Outside of Butler (read above), the other 3 starters played 29, 30 and 31 minutes. Hoffman was hit and miss in his 8 minutes of play, but I still think he's going to be very valuable. He airmailed a 3 and then missed the dunk, off a pass, on the ensuing offensive rebound. However, he hit all 4 FTs and had 5 boards.

Baumgartner and Combs were the only other Pointers with double-digit minutes, both were generally in-effective.

WIAC is just 11-13

I know it's a trek, but I hope some La Crosse fans head to Michigan this weekend. They are in for a real treat at the Great Lakes Invitational involving some truly great programs.

I just think Napezek will be coming back closer to home to the WIAC after a year. WIAC coaches should absolutely stay in contact.

Where would be a good fit? Why?
