3 is still good, although 2 WIAC teams have to play each other and 2 had to play each other to get to the Sweet 16. Point had to be play the #2 team in the nation, so that was an uphill battle.

6'1" Southern Door G, Drew Daoust, has committed to Stevens Point.  This is a huge get for the Pointers, great start to the 2025 class.

Daoust averaged almost 33 points a game as a junior, can really shoot it.  In all likelihood, Daoust will finish his high school career as the 2nd leading scorer in Wisconsin High School Basketball history.

Platteville survives in overtime. Wasn't necessary pretty.

That game shows games this year are going to take a long time with all these reviews.

I have followed this young man's high school career over the past few years.  Agreed, this is a really nice get for Coach Dern and the Pointers.

Platteville wins 76-69 in OT. Platteville was down at halftime 36-30. North Central opened up the 2nd half as they were in the first half hitting 3's at the right time. They extended their lead to 50-42 at the 10 minute mark. At that time Platteville's conditioning took over and at the 5 minute mark they had a 54-50 lead. North Central kept in the game and took the lead with around 7 seconds left. A Platteville bucket with 2 seconds tied it and game went to overtime. Platteville seemed to control the overtime and win. It wasn't pretty but a win is a win. Logan Pearson led Platteville with 24 points.

Looks like Oshkosh will be headed to the Jack Sikma invite hosted by IWU next season. Illinois College and Maryville TN will also be there.

Platteville was there this season, Stout last year, Point the previous year, if I'm not mistaken.

New poll is out.

Platteville drops from #2 to #6 after getting spanked by (at the time) #16 IWU. IWU is up to #4 now.

La Crosse jumps to #21 (128 points) after a great weekend in Grand Rapids. They received just two votes in the preseason poll.

Point stays in the ORV category with 37 points, the same they had in the preseason poll. Obviously not impressed by their 4-0 record and who they've beaten.

Oshkosh enters the ORV catergory with 4 votes.

Whitewater had 11 points in the preseason poll, but has dropped out in Week 1.

Can't wait to get to Quandt for some WIAC action. Seldom do teams get rewarded for early efforts unless they follow through in conference play.

Can Point beat LaCrosse and Oshkosh?

Appreciate the efforts by the poll folks but doesn't pay the bills until February in my view.

6'4" Pine Creek(CO) G, Blake Marshall, will continue his basketball career next year at UW-River Falls.  From what I could gather, Blake also had an opportunity to play basketball at D3 Augustana.  This seems like a solid get for the Falcons.

Keith Hoffman must have left the UWSP basketball team, he's no longer listed on the roster.  UWSP is back having minimal depth in the frontcourt.

Dang. That stinks. I thought he did ok spelling Crohn. Tough loss. I said before I thought he would play an important role on the team.

Stevens Point hangs on for the 25 pt win. Really, another frustrating game by a team that is having a hard time putting opponents away. Northland has no business being within single digits at halftime. Northland has not been in any game this season and it's disappointing to see them down only 15 with 5 minutes to go. Point is supposed to pride themselves on defense, yet they gave up way too many easy baskets and let Northland hit 46% in the first half.

Points 3-point shooting was, again, atrocious hitting just 6 of 22 for 27%. On the positive side, the pointers had five players in double figures. Yet, they only went seven deep in the rotation, another concern. Points non-conference schedule is backloaded with top teams like Trine, Randolph-Macon, and Christopher Newport. Lots to do if we are to compete against them.

Hats off to the pointer community as the box score shows over 800 fans in attendance on a weeknight. That wasn't too much less than what Calvin had against a top 10 team on Friday at a prestigious tournament they hosted last weekend. It is also a couple hundred more than what Calvin had against ranked St John's on Saturday night.
