Quote from: Mitch Hall on January 01, 2025, 07:01:53 PMWho wins the WIAC this year ? I say Platteville with my Eagles second. Pointers and Titans in the hunt.

I agree probably Platteville wins.

Blugolds the biggest mystery for me so far. I don't know how to view them. They could literally be anywhere in the standings.

I'm cautiously viewing the Titans at 9-2, while also remembering they went 3-11 last year in conference. See if they can make improvements in conference.

Pointers and Eagles certainly looking good. RMC and CNU type slobberknocker games more like what Point will see in conference.

WIACer

Platteville leads early top team but will be more challenged than last year. Last year may have been one of the weakest Wiac conf. 8 wins won 2nd. This year you have pointers, Eagles, Blugolds (who beat snc away. I don't see them at the bottom.) Titans. All will be tough games. Rounding the bottom. Whitewater, Falcons, Stout.

Rockridge HS(IL) 6'4" G, Caleb Cunico, has committed to the Platteville Poineers.

I think Point is "for real" or really close. They knocked off Trine, CNU and North Park (a dangerous team that leads the CCIW). They also lost a close one to RMC, who is really good and would probably be in the Top 10 if they didn't play HSC.

I agree really close. The Trine game was a hard read....I didn't think either team was worthy of ahigh acclaim that day. I watched NPU play Oshkosh on stream, they are very athletic but not going to win the CCIW. CNU win is probably a good sign.

Point better stay healthy, they only play a few off the bench. Other WIAC teams seem deeper.

The real action starts today. PV, Point, Osh and LX are still alive.

Watched the Oshkosh game before heading out to Quandt where Platteville is crushing the Pointers at half by 14.

At Menomonee, Oshkosh shot horribly today, losing to Stout.  Example, Metcalf Grassman shot like 3/10 from the FT line where he was ~80% for the season.  Still were close.  Titan overall shooting was way below their standards. Kind of hard to understand this one.

Decent crowd at Quandt. A few people getting liquored up in the end zone.  If the Pointers don't get it going  soon they'll really lose focus.

Well...it took 35 minutes of gametime for Point to show up tonight.  If it only took 30, it probably would have been a great game to watch.

Krohn got hurt at some point in the first half and didn't return.  Point needs another serviceable big man, I'll say Manz filled in admirably and has a bright future but he needs an offseason in the weight room.

Abdul Wahid was a huge disappointment tonight, Point needed him to slow down Pearson atleast a little bit and Wahid couldn't stay anywhere in front of him and was pulled for most of the 2nd half.

Platteville survives a late rally by SP and wins 79-64. Logan Pearson leads Platteville with 23 points. Platteville's shoots 90% from the line versus 63% for SP. Platteville is at LaX next Wednesday.

Tough start for the Pointers. Early deficit and Krohn getting hurt doesn't help. Big game at Whitewater coming up. No depth and poor FT shooting again hurts us. Grant Manz thrown into the fire with Krohn out. 17-27 from the line. We don't have the firepower to recover from such holes.

La Crosse recovers from a 3-pt half time deficit to top visiting Eau Claire 69-55.

On a side note, it's nice to see ex-Pointer AJ Uttech doing well at Stout. 19 points last night in a win over Oshkosh. Double-figures in points in all but 2 games (the 1st two). Glad he found a place.

It was a tale of two halves as the Eagles defeated EC. The Blugolds led by as much as 7 and were led by the impressive Carter Huschka, who put in a dominant effort. La Crosse tightened the defense and controlled the second half.

In the latest D3.com poll Platteville is #1, La Crosse #14 and Stevens Point is at #16. Oshkosh also received votes. Platteville plays at La Crosse Wednesday night should tell a lot about both teams.
