Interesting that pairs of high school teammates will battle each other in Oshkosh tonight:

Karter Thomas vs. Tristan Johanknecht--Oshkosh West
JJ Paider vs. Carter Thomas--Neenah Rockets  (state champs together)
Also Joey LaChappell from Appleton in the game, they all know each other's games from the FVA.

Should be a good fan turnout tonight there. I'll be at Quandt tonight to watch the Pointers host Whitewater. (Seth Miron of Pointers is also from the FVA.) My brother is feeding the chickens  tonight so might got to Hilltop after the Pointer win to see how the ladies game watch party turned out.

For La Crosse's sake, they hope JJ Paider isn't in Oshkosh tonight.

Sorry, go the scheduled teams mixed up.  Platteville has FVA stud Logan Pearson.  I will still go to Hilltop after the Pointer victory.

That home loss against River Falls a few weeks back really looking bad on the Blugolds schedule right now. Hopefully they avenge it tonight in River Falls.

6'5" Baldwin-Woodville F, Evan Clausen, committed to UWRF.  He had some other WIAC interest, seems like a solid get for the Falcons.

'95 Blugold

Blugolds go on the road and take care of River Falls 71-58. Strong finish in the first half led to a strong start in the 2nd that had a lead build up to 20. Falcons cut it to single digits about half way through the 2nd half, but the Blugolds tightened things up from there to solidify the W.

palum

Platteville takes care of Oshkosh 86-73 in Oshkosh. Platteville led 46-31 at halftime. Their lead grew to 23 points then Oshkosh started to chip away and got it down to single didgets. Brady Olson led Platteville with 21 points.

Greek Tragedy

To say that was unexpected by Point against Whitewater would be a gross understatement.

Kind of some odd scheduling by the league. After last night's games, everyone has off this weekend. Why not have the bye last night marking the halfway point of the lead season? I would think you would want a Saturday game to get more butts in the seats. Not sure if there's some kind of conference scheduling conflict.

Just when I give him a little praise, Platteville comes out with an excellent defensive performance against Joey LaChapell last night. Only six points last night and the Pioneers were all over LaChapell defensively after giving up 30 in Platteville. Couldn't find an open shot at all. Ended up having to bemore of a distributor with a team high five assists.

However, LaChapell was 4-4 at the line last night including two cold after a media timeout to up his season percentage to 95.3125%. Mike Christenson of Grove City missed a free throw last night, so LaChapell moves into fourth  in the NCAA in free throw percentage.

Point jumps 19 spots in the rankings and 8 Pool C spots after their win vs Whitewater. Eau Claire and Oshkosh basically flip spots. Shows how volatile the NPI can be. It will be interesting what Monday's rankings will look like with the WIAC off and the UAA playing two this weekend and the NESCAC also doing the double dip, not to mention almost everyone else playing at least one more time.

2. Platteville 69.211 Pool A
5. La Crosse 66.112 C1

I hope the Pointers finally figured something out, that drubbing by Oshkosh last week was apparently a wakeup call. Lady Dawgs fell hard last night, the guys need to get Point to the tourney.  It will be a tough road.

Jameer Barker has made a post on social media saying goodbye to Whitewater basketball.  It doesn't allude to the reasoning behind him not finishing out the year but those are big shoes for Whitewater to fill for the rest of the season.
