Quote from: tomt4525 on February 15, 2025, 10:02:28 PMRefs certainly didn't help things for the Pointers tonight, that's for sure.  With that said, I've never seen worse point guard play for a UWSP team than I saw tonight.  Passing was terrible, capped off by one of the worst passes I've ever seen by Butler to give Renta a fast break layup with under a minute to go in a tie game.

The Point coaching staff better start looking at the transfer market because at the bare minimum, they need a transfer PG to come in and start.  If Manz/Grganto aren't serviceable backup bigs next season, they will need a transfer big that can take some minutes from Krohn unlike Hoffman this season.

From what the announcers were saying after that late turnover is Point does not have a true point guard running the offense.

I'd agree with that when Butler is running the point, he's more of a scorer.  But, Bolden and Combs played a lot of minutes last night.  They are 6 feet tall and don't shoot it well, what other position would be their true position?  They just continued to make terrible decisions with the ball and that was the biggest reason for the loss last night.

I thought Miron was a PG?  Too much hero ball for Pointers regardless of the PG.

LaCrosse head coach and several transfer players came from Bryant and Stratton College. My dad said they were a tech school focusing on lawn mower engines. I think he's had a few too many.  :o

Grassman is only a sophomore this year, so medical or no medical, he has two more years of eligibility remaining at the school of his choosing...

The hope is the timeline is to be ready for conference opener January 2026. It was ACL, MCL, everything.

November 2025 seems unlikely at this time.

Interesting. Oshkosh looked like a lock for NCAA in 2024/25 preseason. If their pre-WIAC 2025/26 is a 50/50 proposition, the NPI math might take them out for 2 years.  Let's enjoy their pain, but the old process at least allowed some eye test for situations like these. It also will cost other WIAC teams in 2025/26 if they have a lower NPI and beat a majority of the WIAC teams.  I am not a D3Datacast guru but it feels like this math doesn't care when you win, just if you do.

I personally feel the tourney would be better if the WIAC gets 3 auto bids. After all, the NESCAC practically gets that. Feels like the CFP process, doesn't it, with NESCAC being the SEC but losing to other teams in the event.

Bryant and Stratton is a 2 year college in Wauwatosa I've heard they have a pretty good Nursing program. Your Dad may be thinking of Briggs and Stratton which makes lawn mower engines and is also in Wauwatosa.

Dad has few episodes of clarity but you might be right. And nurses are the best, they offer comfort. He is why I am stuck near Point with the chickens.  If he hears about the bird flu  I won't see another game at Quandt this year.

6'6" Bay Port F, Mondes Kelly, has committed to the Eau Claire Blugolds.

There are a ton of Bryant and Stratton campuses all over the place.  The ones in upstate NY play d3 teams often.

Probably need lawn mower technology there, too. As I recall, Briggs and Stratton has some big ops in upstate NY as well.  ;D  ;D

Casually watched the first half of the Blugold-Titans game. Blugolds had a strong start and finish to the first half to take a 9 point lead into half. Didn't watch any of the second half, but the end up winning 62-49.

Oshkosh led in scoring by Joey LaChapell with 15. Blugilds had 4 players in double figures with Renta leading the way with 19.

Depending on how Saturday plays out I think Oshkosh, Stout and Whitewater have a chance to be tied at 4-10 for the 5th-7th spot in the standings. Not sure how a 3 way tie breaks in that scenario in regards to playoffs and who gets left out.
