Farmer can elevate, there's no doubt about that.  He's always seems to step up a level against us.  Trying to keep him contained, something we could have done better the first two times, is a priority and makes things difficult.  You already have Nonemacher, who when he's on his game dominates the lane on both ends, and Chandler and Stangl who can burn you outside to deal with.  Then you toss in a player like Farmer who can take you off the dribble, elevate above most others and has senior experience and it makes Stout a tough team to plan for.  What do you focus on?  It just seems like when one part of Stout's game is off, another makes up for it.  It'll take a very good defensive effort by the WARHAWKS to deal with that.   Fortunately we get another shot at it.  We've got some pretty decent athletes too and right now seem to be on top of our game.

WHITEWATER is now the program with the most appearances in the conference tournament championship game surpassing Stevens Point's and Oshkosh's three appearances with four.  But with an 0-3 record to date and snubbed by the NCAA each time we'd sure like to win the dang thing and punch our ticket.

Thanks for the directions.  If I make it, any WW or Stout posters there, just look for the only Asian guy in a Pointer hooded sweatshirt (kind of like, well, exactly like, the one I'm wearing in the my picture but without that plaque thing  :D )

Hi OS,

stoutguy and I were looking for you on Thursday night.

If you go make sure you meet stoutguy before the game.  He would love it.

If your looking for me, see the only 6'7" kid in the hooded sweatshirt who has no business being in the student section still chearing on his HAWKS after all these years.

Weird thing last night when I was working out at Williams Center, I caught a glimpse of Andy Freund and another bench player for WHITEWATER doing some lifting.  THE NIGHT BEFORE PERHAPS THE BIGGEST GAME IN THEIR YOUNG CAREER; Good to see, but bench presses at 8 p.m., I don't know about that.

Hope it's a classic game.  GO HAWKS, BEAT STOUT

Is it true that there was a shot clock controversey at the LC-WW game ? I'll hear from chmarx later today, but wonder if anyone else has any insight on this. Thanks for any info you might provide.

LaCrosse took a shot as the shot clock had run down to just a couple of seconds.  The shot hit the rim but the clock horn sounded in the instant  before it could be reset which caused the referee to blow his whistle stopping play.  The shot had missed but LaCrosse got the rebound on a uncalled, over the back by Werner. LaCrosse scored on the put back but the referee waved it off because he had stopped play with his whistle.  LaCrosse was awarded the ball underneath their basket.  I can't remember whether they scored on that possession or not at this point.

Blowing the whistle was a mistake even though the clock horn had sounded.  It's not that uncommon an occurance.  Some of us wondered if, perhaps, it was a make up for failing the call the over the back which was very obvious. But that's speculation and the offical is one of the better ones that we see in my opinion.

How come when there's ever a mention about the clock it comes at Whitewater? Football and basketball included.

so bw, as long as WE are out there defending ourselves, how about the 20-30 secs that expired when manchester picked up his questionable fourth???? the clock was reset to 8:29 ??? HUH? :-* :-* :-*

That is such a myth........ Michael Jordan, probably the best basketball player of all time, was known to "lift" every game day.  If he can still go out and score 30+ after lifting, I don't think it has much of an affect on a player.

Congrats UWW, we win our first conference tournament final against maybe one of the poorest number 2 seeds i have seen (i'm not bashing them, it is true), Stout really didn't play with fire in the first few minutes of the game as uww got out to a 11-0 lead.  Nonemacher (Jacob) picked up a really stupid technical foul in the second half and didn't play after that.  Those twins really do have passion and play hard, but bitch and moan at every call against them, causing them to get t-d up!!!!

Manchester finished above or near 30 points, really aggresive and the defense again stepped up and frustrated Stout I think.  We were quicker, didn't jump higher but found a way to put the ball in the hole.

Greek Tragedy

Just got back from Whitewater to see the Warhawks put the smack down on an uninspired Stout team Boxscore.  Manchester goes for 27.  Though no team shot very well, it seemed like Stout couldn't hit the broad side of the barn.  I got there very late in the first half with Whitewater up by 18 or so.  Stout put together a mini run to cut it to 13 at the break.

As mentioned, a childish technical foul called on Nonemacher as he "kicks out" on Toellner (?) after a dunk.  It looks like Toellner accidently lands on/near Nonemacher's legs and he kicks out (not viciously).  I'll agree that it does seem like he whines everytime there is a foul called on him.  Oh well.

Congrats to Whitewater on their first ever tourney championship.

I'm hoping Whitewater and Stout are put in different sectionals.  Whitewater is far enough south/midwest that maybe they'll be put in with the midwest/great lakes teams.  I'm confident Stout will get a Pool C bid and be left out in the West/South sectional.   :D

That's a pretty bold statement considering the poorest #2 seed SWEPT you're beloved Warhawks during the regular season.  Sure, it's easy to claim that that's the truth after a beating they put on the Blue Devils tonight, but sometimes one team has everything going for them and sometimes "your" team just can't put it together for one night.  I seem to remember Whitewater needed a last second shot to beat the #5 seed just this week and several years ago #8 Stout coming into Whitewater and smoked the #1 seed by 41.  I would think you'd show a little more class and respect after a win.  I don't think any Stout poster claimed Whitewater was the poorest conference champion after sweeping them.
