If the BlueDevils win their first round game and the host school, Augustana does the same, it will be a rematch in round 2 of the December game played in Menomonie.

Stout won that game 70-66.

That was the only loss for Augustana for quite awhile until they dropped 4 games in the month of February.

Any thoughts from the UW-LaCrosse supporters out there about their trip to Holland and facing Calvin and potentially Hope?

I think they're too scared to say anything!

Looked a little bit at DePauw on their website.  They have some tall guys (6'8" and 6'7"), but those guys are around 225 pounds (a little thin, I weigh 285) :)  Two players average around 14 ppg, they are a 15-12 team and I don't recognize many opponents that they played.

It will be interesting if Carroll wins and UWW wins, then that is a rematch of an earlier loss and we all know how WW can rebound from earlier losses (see Stout, Oshy among others).  We are starting to really key in on defense, and our weaknesses (ability to turn the ball over) are not as prominent as in year's past.

Ticket office probably opens at 8 a.m., I will be calling non-stop until my tickets are secure.  To bad you can't secure a ticket on Saturday even if UWW loses.

Has this been confirmed? I will not be able to attend the Friday game but would like to get tix for Saturday's game tomorrow (and hope the Hawks are in it). Are tix for Saturday's game only available after Friday's games and before Saturday's game. Thanks for any info anyone might have.

Will Ward Churchill sing the National Anthem at the Williams Center?

This IWU fan is hoping to see a CCIW/WIAC showdown Saturday evening.

Although I am Titan2000 I must say I think Carroll is the winner in the game vs. IWU Titans.  Still, Carroll is a girl's name.

While watching the WIAC championship game I was amazed by Whitewaters ability to muster a crowd and the sound defensive scheme the warhawks put in place.  However, I will question calls.  Yes! the retaliator is always seen and called out on.  However the Nonemacher technical should have called both ways.  The whitewater puck was taunting both hanging on the rim and standing over the big man.  Let the real tournament begin.

LX will have a very big challenge in Michigan. Intense crowds when UW-Oshkosh went there and won several years ago. Good luck to LX.

Oshkosh would not have been given a bid. No way!

Careful. I don't think the NCAA did the Michigan schools any favors sending UW-L across the lake. They're pretty well rounded. When I get a chance to look up these teams, maybe I can give an uneducated guess at what might happen. I just wish it weren't such a long commute.

What a difference a few more bids makes.  We went from a team that tied for the conference championship with the number one team in the country not getting a bid, to a team that finished tied for fourth getting in.  Every team that got in deserves to be there, and good luck to them all, but the NCAA might need to reevaluate their criteria that allowed UWL to leap frog over UWSP for a bid.  UWL did real well with their non-conference games in Nov and Dec, but non-conference games are always going to be an uneven playing field.  For example, with a new coach and a lot of new players, UWSP needed to focus more on building for the conference season than just winning games at the beginning of the season.  UWSP was the better team once it really mattered in Jan and Feb, finishing ahead of UWL in the standings, and beating UWL in both head to head games.  There seems to be too much weight put on non-conference games.  Here is my modest proposal, for what it is worth.  Come up with some formula for rating conferences based on their performance in recent NCAA tournaments, and their performance in the current season's non-conference games.  Then assign at large bids to the conferences base on those ratings.  Then decide which teams get the conference's bids based on conference standings.

Greetings from the MIAA, I thought I might pop in and show you the wonderful venue LaCrosse will be playing in Friday.

....scroll down for a good look.  You can also hit the links for a couple photos from opening night.......the panorama is pretty impressive.  We promise we won't wear that much orange........okay no promises. ;D

If you can make it I recommend the trip its a beautiful place and a nice town.  I'm really looking forward to seeing another WIAC team on our shores.

If we're lucky Dave Collinge will be along to show you our condiments. :D

This years nominees for the Aubrey Lewis-Byers memorial award, given annually to the player most deserving of a longer season are, in no particular order: Brian Bauer(although he's doing ok after the two previous years), Andy Jahnke, Levon Crawford, Hans Hoeg, and Leonard Cobb.

you must have been looking at the ww cheerleaders ;D  toelner slammed in home over ur big guy who took a flop, toelner hung on the rim momentarily, so as not to hurt ur big guy. when he came down one foot was between ur big guy's legs and one foot out. (words may have been exchanged at that time??) when toelner turned to go up court, your big man tried to trip him and the ref (kellaher sp.) was right there, foul and a T and pine time - end of play ;)
