Any regular WIAC poster who starts (trying) to post Haikus will be banned.  ;)

Haikus are 3 line poems, with 5-7-5 syllables or something like that.  If you want to become a Haiku master, go to the MWC page...and stay there!  :P

You tell 'em, Old School.
Haikus must indeed be banned.
Satan spawned Haikus.

Ok, Ok, I hereby swearoff any further attempts at haiku-isms!  :D

I was going to respond with a Haiku of my own, but the last thing I want to do is encourage it.  >:(

Old School:

You know Keven Bradley is a nice young man;  Point probably could have used him this year.

Speaking of former UWSP Guard Keven Bradley, here is a good read from today's Appleton Post Crescent:

It is interesting that for the WIAC post-season tournament, that is "for the purpose of determining the conference's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Tournament"; team's overall records are not used to seed the teams.  In fact, they will flip a coin to break ties rather than use any criteria based on non-conference results. Shouldn't they be trying to determine the best overall team to represent the conference in the national tournament?
I'm not is favor of any rule that would benefit teams that schedule soft non-conference schedules.

Oh...wow...tearing up here. Thanks for the laugh.

Good luck to all the teams this year, I have UW-Stout in the Championship game (Yes, they will be beating Lawerence in the Elite 8).

Thanks Bill, I've been waiting for it and this morning when I checked it wasn't posted yet.

Sweet, Manchester deserved it but I wasn't sure he'd have enough support around the league. The little guy edges out the big man.   Plus Melvin Williams made the jump from honorable mention twice to the first team.  Congrats to Pat Miller, 100 wins, conference championship, conference tournament championship and COY.  Excellent and well deserved.

Rob Perry could be the most improved player from season's begining to season's end.  He's got a bright future in the league.

Capelle falls from  POY runner up last year to honorable mention this year, ouch.

It's good see Terry Farmer get the nod.  I like his game alot.

I thought Cobb would get more votes but when your team is 0-16 I guess you don't.

Hoeg is a great choice, so was Krull.   Thought Nonemacher would finish a little higher (obviously since I tagged him POY).

Somehow none of the "three best players in the league" made the first 10.  Sorry, Downtown, I couldn't resist.

Crawford really deserved first team mention.

Stoutguy, has Eddie ever nominated this many players? ;)

Congrats to all honored.  There's a hell of a lot of talent in there.

Hey, thank you for giving me the opportunity to ramble on about one of my favorite subjects (beer, not monks :D)  for a couple of paragraphs. All that typing made me mighty thirsty, though.

::) That was sooo a setup. Funny though. :D

So...am I the only Pointer fan here?  Did I ever mention Keven Bradley in any of my posts?  Why was that directed to only me?  I've never said anything about him, good or bad.  I'm glad he's happy at Lawrence.

Yes, that was sooo a setup...and no, April, it wasn't funny.   It was just real POINTless.

Apparently the Lawrence players have nothing else to do but rip on Stevens Point.  That's too bad.  Maybe they should concentrate on basketball.  It humors me that Stevens Point is the center of attention for some Lawrence players and that the past seems to still be an issue for them.  Keep it up guys and don't forget you have a basketball game to play on Saturday.  That's the second article I've read that has LU players talking about their "bad" experiences with Stevens Point or Jack Bennett.  Well, as the article said, Keven Bradley has a ring, something no Lawrence players have right now.  Will they get one this year, we'll see.

Just a reminder, to keep you worrying about the evil Stevens Point Pointers...we've beaten you 14 straight times and your last loss was a butt whipping by 34 from us in the NCAA tourney.  How do you like THEM apples?  Keep up the good work.  Geez.

Tom, breathe in, breathe out.  ;)

Sometimes you're just gonna get accused wrongly. The MWC board has been pretty rude about lumping me in with a group of CCIW posters than don't respect their conference. Heck, it's especially unfair since I am the founder and president of the "MWC deserves some respect" club. But hey, it's only basketball, right?  :)

Mab, it wouldn't make much sense from a conference standpoint to include non-conference games in determining seeds for the WIAC tournament.  The system they have for breaking ties I believe is a good one:

...  cracking into the non-conference schedule has no place when determining anything within the conference itself.

/quote]

I agree completely.  The WIAC's formula of using the standings at the end of a complete conference schedule, along with the tiebreakers, is the most objective, fairest and best way to rank the teams for the stated purpose of determining who represents the conference in the NCAA tournament.  The concern is that the NCAA's formula has criteria, using non-conference games, which can override that ranking.  No matter how objectively they try to judge non-conference performance, it will always be highly subjective.  My fear is that in the future, a team is going to jump over another team because of an easier schedule.  Non-conference games are very important.  They help teams prepare for the much more important conference season and hopefully the post season, and they provide the only reasonable means for the NCAA to judge how conferences rank compared to each other.

The winking face at the end of my previous post was meant to keep anyone from taking the last part seriously, unless anyone at the NCAA wanted to go for it.   ;)
