Old School:
You know Keven Bradley is a nice young man;  Point probably could have used him this year.

Speaking of former UWSP Guard Keven Bradley, here is a good read from today's Appleton Post Crescent:

::) That was sooo a setup. Funny though. :D

So...am I the only Pointer fan here?  Did I ever mention Keven Bradley in any of my posts?  Why was that directed to only me?  I've never said anything about him, good or bad.  I'm glad he's happy at Lawrence.

Yes, that was sooo a setup...and no, April, it wasn't funny.   It was just real POINTless.

Apparently the Lawrence players have nothing else to do but rip on Stevens Point.  That's too bad.  Maybe they should concentrate on basketball.  It humors me that Stevens Point is the center of attention for some Lawrence players and that the past seems to still be an issue for them.  Keep it up guys and don't forget you have a basketball game to play on Saturday.  That's the second article I've read that has LU players talking about their "bad" experiences with Stevens Point or Jack Bennett.  Well, as the article said, Keven Bradley has a ring, something no Lawrence players have right now.  Will they get one this year, we'll see.

Just a reminder, to keep you worrying about the evil Stevens Point Pointers...we've beaten you 14 straight times and your last loss was a butt whipping by 34 from us in the NCAA tourney.  How do you like THEM apples?  Keep up the good work.  Geez.

One noob LU poster who just wants to start this kind of BS comes in and suddenly LU fans are maniacs? C'mon now!  Some of us over on the MWC board still have our manners (and poetry skills) intact!  :D

First off, I don't think you can take some quotes in the midst of two articles and expand it to "the past seems to still be an issue for them".  I mean, seriously, all Bradley said in the article was that he enjoys playing at LU more.  I guess that's some personal attack on Point though.  OBVIOUSLY he wanted something different...he transfered! And even if some LU players still hold a chip on the shoulder towards UWSP...who cares! UWSP is the closest thing LU has to a rival in the WIAC.  We've lost some tough games to them...i think LU fans/players have a right to feel how they will (note i didn't say b**** about UWSP all day every day).

As far as staying focused on their game...Now you are making a HUGE stretch! One LU poster with no posting background digs at you and suddenly LU is looking past NC or UST to a Point team that isn't even in the tourney?    ::)  Be careful...you're starting to get a Wayne Rooney style tempermant (and I think proud of LU is your referee).  Don't make me pull out a yellow card!

You're right...it was a pointless statement.  And that should have been the end of it.  6 posts to his credit? Ignore him!  Don't start making bold statements about LU fans just b/c the # of a**holes posting on the MWC board spiked with LU's recent success.  I might as well accuse Point fans of the same BS based on the run in I had with a solitary UWSP fan this summer.

awww.. :-\

Tom, breathe in, breathe out. ;)

Sometimes you're just gonna get accused wrongly. The MWC board has been pretty rude about lumping me in with a group of CCIW posters than don't respect their conference. Heck, it's especially unfair since I am the founder and president of the "MWC deserves some respect" club. But hey, it's only basketball, right? :)

On behalf of the MWC posters who aren't still wet behind the ears, I hereby recognize your presidency.  ;)

Every conference has their share of loonies.  I want to know what CCIW posters have been disrespecting the MWC - I know it is not Greg, Q or me (and is obviously not diehard!).  There may have been some 'innocent' smack talk before a non-conference match-up, but otherwise I just don't recall the put-downs that are being referred to.  (There may have also been some posts about Carroll - they left the CCIW because they were totally uncompetitive, but any resemblance between THAT Carroll and THIS Carroll are purely coincidental!)

Have I missed something?

EDIT: Based upon the immediate past posts, I forgot and thought I was on the MWC board!  Sorry to intrude with two conferences NOT the WIAC!

Congrats to those selected for the 2005-06 WIAC team...

Old School, Point Special, and any other Point fans, or those interested - check out today's Stevens Point Journal for a nice article on Dick Bennett's retirement. Quotes from Jack Bennett, who says that, unlike Dick's retirement from Wisconsin, this time it's final.

"Plus, he likes to be out on the golf course. If he comes back now, he's going to have to have his head examined," Jack says in the article.

What a hoot!

Old School-
After all the hard work you did with the Pick'em, I definitely wasn't trying to ruffle your feathers.  I just found it ironic that his name was mentioned the same day as the article came out.  I'm kind of wishing I wouldn't have posted the link now.... :'(

cubs,

Not a problem...after realizing who posted it (not a MWC regular) and the time it was posted after the LU post, I realized it wasn't staged.  I'm over it anyway.

Besides, it was a nice article.  I skimmed it the first time and then re-read it a second time and it's good to hear that Bradley is happy.  There are a lot of circumstances that go into how you're unhappy at one place and happy at another.  Everyone can go through that, even if it's not basketball related.

Not an issue.  ;)

The Champ

Well, tonight I wish good luck to all 3 Men's WIAC teams, and the UW Stout Runnin' Lady Blue Devils.

Let's hope that the WIAC is 4 - 0 after this evening's games!!!

CAR leads the all-time series between these two teams 9-1.....oh wait that doesn't mean anything. This game isn't going to be close is it??

What does Stout have for players??

The BlueDevils have a solid, sometimes inconsistent team.

They are huge at the post with 2 seven footers. One on the floor almost all the time.

Solid point play with Chandler, excellent shooting guard at the 2 spot in Stangl.

Farmer at the 4 spot is all conference along with Jake Nonemacher at center.

This team could end up in Salem, or be one and done.

BDB

As far as tournament teams are concerned, Stout has played 5 of them this year:

Wooster - Close loss at Wooster Tourney
St. Thomas - Close win at Wooster Tourney
LaCrosse - Split 2 games, each won on the opposing court
Augustana - Close win at home
Whitewater - Stout won both regular season games, then lost at Whitewater in the conference tournament championship game.

Right there is the key to the game. CAR hasn't seen a guy over 6'8'' all season. The MIAC just doesn't have that size. Are the guys big and thick or are they tall and lanky?? If they are thick it could be a rout for Stout but if they are smaller inside Fork and even young Johnson may be able to push them a bit. I still see CAR losing by double digits.

Neither does Stevens Point, but that didn't stop them from taking two of three from Stout.  ;D
