I am sorry the Vikings are such demons.  I thought you might want to see how mean and selfish they are--just see the attached article !!

Have a nice day.

That's a fine article.  My point in the past is when they've interviewed Lawrence players, for some reason they dip into the past and take shots at Stevens Point or their experiences here.  Why is that?  According to them, Stevens Point are the demons and are the Evil Empire.  Oh well.

I've never said they were demons.

Old School,

We may need a ruling.

Is this a kudo haiku?  ;)

I think that UWW will step up their play tonight.  Not everyone in their first tournament game (Manchester especially) can step up and be "the man", or put on a performance against a team that they have never played, but hopefully during the first game (IWU/Carrol), some notes or points of emphasis were made and intensity won't be an issue.

Kudos to DePauw, they really fired away those threes and kept it interesting.  OS, try and find me at the game and I will get you money for at least one of the other tickets that I promised to pay.  The dush bag who was suppose to take the seat copped out, so sorry bout that.

There really isn't anything anti Stevens Point in the articles about Braier and Bradley.  I referenced the article about Braier because it would be of interest to WIAC fans in general.  My feeling is people on this bulletin board sometimes think everyone else is a step down from our teams.  All you have to do is see your team play some other teams in the NCAA tourney a few times to realize there are a lot of good teams out there, including Lawrence.  Also, like someone mentioned here, it provided a little insight into what gets said in recruiting and how that gets used as motivation (keeping in mind the two people involved don't remember it the same way).  That is all part of the game.  The article about Bradley sounds like a situation where a player was buried on the bench of a real strong team and felt he had more value to give.  He just needed to find the right place to do that.  That is always going to happen at programs where they are able to recruit a lot of top talent.  There was even a nice quote from Tharp about how well coached Bradley was from his three years at Stevens Point.  I do understand the feelings though.  You have to have a lot of cynicism when reading posts on an internet bulletin board.

We played very well against Eau Claire and won, not so well against LaCrosse but still won, then really, really well against Stout for another win.  Last night was another LaCrosse game.  We didn't play all that well.  If I had a buck for each of the inside shots we missed I could've have bought a round at Saxes afterward.   Luckily it took DePauw a half to get going and we made enough baskets and all but one free throw when it counted.  I just hope the pattern continues.  We'll have to play much better tonight.  There's a reason IW was preseason #1.  They are very talented.

Perry played very well off the bench and in the second half of the season he's been giving the team a real boost when he comes on the floor.  He's developing really well.  I've always thought he was going to be a stud before it was over.  If he was two inches taller he'd be D1 somewhere.

DePauw wasn't that bad of team.  We had problems with their quickness at the point and Alex Stewart (20) went off on us in the second half.  However when it got really dicey Melvin Williams played some pretty good defense on Stewart and held him in check.  Another break for us was Stephen Schott (30) getting in early foul trouble and having to sit.  It was never really comfortable though because the circumstances of their qualifying were in the back of your mind.  Some times those are teams of destiny.

Free throws were the difference we go 16 of 19 and they go 7 of
8.  We win by 8.  Otherwise the numbers are pretty even.

I did wonder one thing though.  How come so many DePauw fans were green and white in the first half?  Aren't those IW's colors? ;)  There were alot of people cheering for the Tiger.

The atmosphere was charged with electricity.  The placed was packed.  It was loud and the fans were crazy.  For a minute there I thought it was 1989 and Platteville or Eau Claire were in the gym.  Simply fantastic.

OS nice to see you again, PS it was nice to meet you.  You surprised me a bit.  I had you pegged as an older person.   UWW4, you weren't one of those guys in the short-shorts with painted on jersey's were you.  :D:D, ;)

Good luck tonight, Stout.

You would think that last night's Warhawk win over DePauw would have been the highlight of the day.  It didn't come close!  Having the opportunity to finally meet Old School, the WIAC flag-bearer on this website, prior to last night's games at Kachel Gym was a sincere pleasure.  I hope I will get to meet a number of the other posters tonight prior to the Illinois Wesleyan-WW game.

stoutguy-  It was great to meet you and spend some time chatting with you at Augustana yesterday.  Congrats to your team and good luck this evening.  Did anybody listen to the UW Stout/Carleton game on the web(d3hoops.com)?  What a great game,  Stout led by as many as 8 in the second half, with Carleton having 1 last possession to try and tie/win the game.
Congrats to both teams, and an exciting way to open up the big dance.

badgerwarhawk-

I was just thinking the same thing:

at EC, bad game
vs EC, good game
vs Lax, bad game
vs Stout, good game
vs Depauw, bad game
Tonight?  Will the pattern continue???

buf

jaybird-

I listened to it!  Great game!  Stout had a small lead throughout most of the game.  It was a battle of inside play vs. outside play.  I think the difference in this game was Nonemacher.  In the 2nd half Carleton barely went to the hole, and when they did Nonemacher was there to swat it away.

Mab,

Not a problem.  I respect your opinion, as I do most posters here and on other boards.  I am glad I got to read those articles and maybe we are all a little biased towards our own teams.  So it goes.  Not an issue.

I'm not sure if you are completely, or even partially, right about how the WIAC faithful think we're just automatically better than everyone else.  I don't think that's the case.  Obviously we have pride in our teams, as does everyone, and yeah, we do basically expect our teams to beat everyone else...that's the kind of expectations the WIAC teams have.  It's not a matter of being arrogant.  On the national scene, some say the WIAC (along with the CCIW) is one of the top conferences in the nation. We take pride in that and that motivates us to keep that competitive edge and we try to stay on top (or near it).

what a great season by lax.  if you had told me at the beginning of the year they had a shot at making the tourney i would have laughed at you.  I am really looking forward to next year to see how things go.  It will hurt losing Marcus and Tim but they will be good once again and I believe a conference favorite

laxeagles...

Where you been?  You've been pretty quiet since the tourney field was announced...

Not sure if La Crosse will be a favorite...but, they'll be pretty good as long as Werner is there!
