You beat me to it OS.

The selection of Jeremy as the league's POY confirmed that the coaches around the league appreciated not only his talent but also his value to the team in a broader sense.  I wasn't sure that appreciation extended beyond our league but now I see that it does.   Way cool, he's earned every honor he gets.  We're going to miss him.

Pat, regarding the all region selections.

How are they made?  I mean are all the nominated "guards" put on a list and voted on, all the "forwards" on another list and the "centers" on a third?    Or is everyone just nominated regardless of position?  I noticed that each team has two guards, two forwards and a center which seems an unlikely occurrance if they're all lumped together.

Also is the first guard listed the highest vote getter among guards, the first forward listed the highest vote getter for the forwards and so forth?

Thanks

Kudos to Jeremy, not sure he earned it in the playoffs but a terrific season to the way that he played during the long regular season and the tournament, he really stepped up against Stout and his leadership will be missed.

SIDs vote on backcourt players and frontcourt players separately. Then I take the top two backcourt players and top three frontcourt players and assign them to a team. If there's a center in those three frontcourt players then they make the team, but if not, then it's three forwards. In the case of the first team West, the three on the first team contain two centers, which is unusual, probably the only one in the nation.

With very few exceptions, they are listed in vote order.

I'm not Titan 2000...

I find that hard to believe. ;D

First, you guys are hilarious.

Secondly, I give up figuring out where the UW-O team will stand.  They sucked this year, plain and simple.  I can't imagine 2006/7 can be much better, what's the catalyst?  The conference is going to be just as competitive.

How about some karma.   ::)

It's too bad Manchester had a bad weekend.  My friend, who is a Whitewater alumnus, came down for the regional final...and unfortunately, his first game this season, and probably first game in a long time, didn't sit well with him.  He could hardly believe "this Manchester guy" was conference player of the year and he was shocked that Whitewater actually won the conference.  I told him that IWU shot the lights out and that IWU was a pretty good team with at least two All-Americans.  Anyway, he came away obviously disappointed and I was hoping, as was every Whitewater fan, that the Warhawks could've at least put on a better showing...but, like I said, IWU was unstoppable that night.  I'm hoping the WIAC and Whitewater fans can say they lost to the National Champs come Saturday night!  :D

I heard the two names were Jack Bennett and John Tharp from Lawrence and then when Superior couldn't decide between the two, they went with a sleeper candidate!  ::)

Obviously I'm kidding.  I have no idea who the new coach is.  I checked the WIAC page and the Superior website last night.

BTW, in case you didn't know and missed it...ESPN has a nice Outside the Lines segment on D3 basketball.  It lasted about 15 minutes.  The "logo" picture or whatever they used was a split picture of a Lawrence player in an action photo and then the right hand side had Jack Bennett and some Point players celebrating the National Championship.

It featured Lincoln College and Illinois Wesleyan and the ESPN camera crews were at Whitewater and in Appleton last weekend with game footage and interviews with IWU players.

Apparently ESPN frowns upon naked fans storming the court because they failed to show Swampgoon running onto the court after IWU upset Lawrence on Friday night...ok, that didn't actually happen.  8)  They interviewed the IWU AD and I said to myself, "Hey, I stood next to that guy at the game!"  And yeah, that did happen.  ;D

Reportedly, Jack Bennett is seeking a $1,000 appearence fee for use of his photo by ESPN. :)  (I kid because I care).

Very nice piece on Lincoln and IWU.  It couldn't have worked out any better for ESPN with the thrill of victory (IWU) and the agony of defeat (Lincoln).

The Parkside assistant was hired by Superior.  Just what I heard.

Will the ESPN piece be aired again in normal hours? Is the  D3championship on ESPN?? Time?

Greek Tragedy

Watch the 5 pm (central) sportscenter...supposedly they are showing the Outside the Lines special then.  The d3 championship game is on College Sports Television CSTV, usually on satellite and said to be on select cable outlets.  You usually need the "sports package" of those providers.

I think the women's game is at 3 pm and the men's at 5 pm...or something like that.
