So, apparently Illinois Wesleyan lost in the semifinals.  Next year, I'll bet a WIAC team cuts down the nets in Salem.

Are those two sentences as totally unrelated to one another as they appear to me to be? ???

No, Mr. Ypsi...not at all.  ;D

Chmarx,

That's a bold statement to say the least.  Who do you think that WIAC team might be?  La Crosse?  Stout (after losing Farmer and Chaisson), Whitewater (after losing Manchester and Williams), Oshkosh (after a very disappointing year), Is Point going to jump that much?  Just curious.

Doesn't Virginia Wesleyan only lose two seniors?  What about Hope, Wittenberg, Amherst etc...

Virginia Wesleyan loses one starter (Marques Fitch) and their backup center. All three of their starters who average in double digits in scoring (including All-American big man Brandon Adair) return. I'd look for the Marlins to be the preseason #1 in the Top 25 poll. Hope loses three starters, but they're so loaded and played such a deep rotation this season that I don't think the Dutch will miss a beat. Wittenberg loses their three best players (Borchers*, Russ, and Brady), plus a fourth starter. The Tigers will be hard-pressed to repeat their national success. Likewise, Illinois Wesleyan loses four starters (including their two All-Americans) and eight of the ten Titans in the rotation. Amherst loses two starters (including top scorer John Bedford) and two reserves to graduation.

Don't go overboard in forecasting next season based upon who returns from this season's rosters, though. UW-Oshkosh's 2005-06 campaign is a great object lesson in that regard.

* Possible correction: Although Dane Borchers is listed as a senior, he's apparently eligible for a medical redshirt based upon an injury suffered during a previous season, and he may yet elect to use it and come back for another year.

Not to blow my own horn (HONK HONK) but I think I led the WIAC page dwellers with a #18 finish on the DIII Hoops Pick 'Em contest. Picking VWU to win it all meant a huge jump from mid pack. Of course I picked Stout to get there after beating WW in the Sectional finals.

Very nice job, frodotwo.  I came in an impressive 637th out of 712 with 43 points!  :'( My D1 bracket is looking a little better though!  ;D

Dane Borchers should skip the redshirt year and go pro :)

Side note...... The UW B-ball team should take note of the football program and work as hard as they do in the off-season.  Man oh man, can hardly get any weight machine in the gym.  Hopefully they can repeat w/ as much work as the football team does.

Checking out the She-Vegas Press and Jon Iserloth was selected to the All-Area Team (whatever that's worth).  Says that Iserloth is planning on going to UWSP and may play basketball there.  And yes, he's Josh's younger brother.  He's 6'2" and averaged 15.1 ppg and 7.7 rbs/gm.

Stoutguy?  BlueDevilBob?  Where's the love?!

The 2006-2007 Schedule for the Stout Blue Devils is already up!!! Wahoo!  It's time to pick apart and analyze! lol.  ::)

They get to play Wisconsin this year!

Other nonconference games:
at Bemidji State
at Northland College
at Northern Michigan
at Finlandia

2 games at the D3 Desert Shootout
Stout Holiday Tourney
Jamestown College
Viterbo (North Central is also in the tourney but not in winner vs. winner format)

Wow, only two nonconference home games (6 away/neutral)

Conference-wise:

Doesn't play more than two home games in a row, ends with three away games in a row (Osh, Sup, Point) and a finale vs. La Crosse
