Explain to your little boy that there is more to life than basketball.  I think that would be more important, don't you???  If the Nonemachers are the entire team......hmmm.......looks like UWEC may not be on the bottom of the pile with RF and Superior anymore!!!  Perhaps wishful thinking, but that is all we have over here!!  :D

My son already knows there is more to life than sports.

He also knows that when you start something you finish it.

And I didn't say or mean that John and Jake are the entire team. But this years squad was going to be their team with or without Adam and Ryan, IMO.

Just a quick question.  Does WMEQ have it's sports show on saturdays anymore or is it only on during the school year?  Any ideas?

Thanks

I believe it will start up again in late August.

IMO, they DID finish it.  They completed the season.  This happens all across D3, it is nothing new.  A little insider info, EC has one of these going on right now as well with one of their younger players.  It is NOT uncommon.  Heck, you had a player in Nate Severson that quit the team and then came back when things were starting to look a little sunny.....

MB, I hold no bad opinion about Adam and Ryan. I understand that things change and decisions have to be made. Sometimes, things get lost in the translation on boards like this.

I do hope for their sake that they don't regret not staying with the team in the future. Not everyone has the talent to play college basketball at their level.

I'll have to totally disagree with that comment.  ;) Had Adam and Ryan been there, it would've been their team, not the Nonemachers' team...especially since you rarely saw both on the floor at the same time.  Of course, you know more about the Stout team than I do!

Who is Derek Wimmer?

Stangl and whatever his name is will soon be forgotten, and I believe Andrist will run a great team out this year without them.  6 am practices and extra weights is a little weak of an excuse in my books, but that is their lives and you can't whine to them if they want to quit on concentrate on other things.  Their passion for D3 basketball is not strong.

Mine is though, I love it when 3 teams make it into the postseason and we play Carroll and IWU (perhaps) in a rematch at Williams Center.  Can we say now that UDUB DUB is a pre-season favorite?

GO HAWKS!!!!

If it is the Derek Wimmer from Ladysmith, he won't even crack UWW's top 7.  Agreed, Ryan and Adam have literally run the show since they stepped on the floor as freshman, so to say that it would be the Nonemachers' team in Stang and Chan's 3 year is wrong, but that won't be happening.  Whitewater is my preseason pick.....unless Oshkosh gets their junk together.

Any group, whether a group of students writing a paper for English class, a troops of girl scouts, or an NCAA basketball team, functions better with when everyone is enthusiastic and supportive of the group as a whole, rather than having members who are not in it with their full self.  For whatever reason, these guys (presumably) have decided not to play.  IMO, Stout will be a better team because of it.  They may not necessarily play better than they would have if they had these two guys, but the cohesion of the group will be better, because it will be 15 (or how ever many they keep) strong, working towards a common goal.  I think, in the end, it's better for all parties involved, if these they've decided, now, before the season, that they aren't up for it, or have other priorities, or whatever.  But come on, it's not even August yet.  Lots can happen between now and the first day of practice in October.  Maybe they will miss those early workous and come back the second week of school.  But maybe they won't.

Either way, I think their personal reasons for playing, or not playing, really should be their business.  Yes, if they want to come on here and state their reasons, it's one thing, but to postulate, and wonder, and suppose why it is, or isn't that they've decided not to play really isn't why this board is here, is it?

I've seen Stangl and Chandler play, and one of the things that impressed me about them was how hard they came out, every night (or at least every night they played Point).  If they've decided that it's time to end their careers, then that's their own business.  I just hope they've spent the time talking with their coach and families about it so that they DO make the right decision.  I'd hate for them to regret not playing once the opportunity to lace it up has come and gone.

People need to realize something about what Stout is losing in Chandler and Stangl.....I know it may be old coming from me because I have defended them to death...BUT...these guys are two MAIN parts to Eddie's basketball machine.  These guys were the glue of this team ON AND OFF the court.  Point Special hit it right on the head, these two played HARD.  Anyone can dare to let me know of a game that they saw where these two DIDNT play their hardest.  This can't be said about the Nonemachers who some have deemed as the guys who are gonna run the show.  I was at the WIAC championship, I saw both sitting on the bench at the end for being boneheads.  Ryan and Adam were LOVED by their teammates because they are GREAT GUYS.  Simply put, Stout is gonna be HURTING this year.  Eddie wasn't ready for this, but how could he be???  He is looking at Clopton, Theis, Severson, Heisler, and one Nonemacher starting this year.  That is what he has unless he brings in some STUDS.  I wish Eddie the best, he has a big puzzle to piece together this year.....and lay off these two guys, they gave it 110% the ENTIRE time they played at Stout and they simply don't want to play anymore, simple as that.  DO NOT question their desire, they gave it their all when they played.

the derek wimmer is a grad of whitefish bay dominican........played his frosh year on scholarship at chicago state, then transferred to uwm...played sparingly last year at uwm but played alot at chicago state.......a nice pickup that should have a chance to start or contribute significantly if he for sure is at WW

Will the Titans be able to handle Stout this year?

Nobody has said these guys weren't good players, great teammates and would have been a big part of the next 2 years in the Stout program.

What has been challenged is their desire to play, which apparently has been met. And like has been mentioned, that's their business.

The program moves on.

And whether it would have been the Nonemachers team or not, I respect other people's take on that, it certainly will be now.

I know John and Jake. And I look forward to this coming season.
