People need to realize something about what Stout is losing in Chandler and Stangl.....I know it may be old coming from me because I have defended them to death...BUT...these guys are two MAIN parts to Eddie's basketball machine.  These guys were the glue of this team ON AND OFF the court.  Point Special hit it right on the head, these two played HARD.  Anyone can dare to let me know of a game that they saw where these two DIDNT play their hardest.  This can't be said about the Nonemachers who some have deemed as the guys who are gonna run the show.  I was at the WIAC championship, I saw both sitting on the bench at the end for being boneheads.  Ryan and Adam were LOVED by their teammates because they are GREAT GUYS.  Simply put, Stout is gonna be HURTING this year.  Eddie wasn't ready for this, but how could he be???  He is looking at Clopton, Theis, Severson, Heisler, and one Nonemacher starting this year.  That is what he has unless he brings in some STUDS.  I wish Eddie the best, he has a big puzzle to piece together this year.....and lay off these two guys, they gave it 110% the ENTIRE time they played at Stout and they simply don't want to play anymore, simple as that.  DO NOT question their desire, they gave it their all when they played.

EARLIER POSTS
"Anyone heard of any drama coming from Stout?  Rumor has it that Stangl and Chandler quit along with others.  The only ones left are the Nonemachers.  Sounds like RF and Stout are losing key players."

I can confirm this as 100% TRUE!  I have heard it out of Stangl's mouth personally.  Every time I see him I ask him if anything changes and he always gives me the "absolutely not" response.  They don't want to play anymore because this past year demands were "unbelievable" as in practices starting at/before 6 AM (can't remember which) coupled with crazy times for lifting as well.  Plus I have heard from a TON of other Stout players how playing at Stout has just plain SUCKED since Gardow left.  There is a GOOD reason that Eddie won't bring any of this up......it is flat out embarrasing to lose your all conference backcourt as Juniors to be!

MYTHICAL BIRD....
I think you are missing the point here....you said they quit due to early practices, weightlifting times, etc........
If they are quitting because of those reasons that YOU STATED, Stout will be better off, period..and you have to question their desire if they quit due to practice times.....practice makes perfect! Its not like this is some new coach with no credentials or experience making them run for the hell of it....Eddie is an established coach with championships and international experience under his belt.
Sorry to beat this point to death, I'm an IIAC'er with much respect for the WIAC.....but don't change your story now, did they quit due to practice times, or for family and career/school reasons? Those are not the same reasons, and therefore, will not get the same replies or reactions

Here is the deal....I am speaking on Ryan's part because he is a close, personal friend of mine.  Last year Ryan was making about a 35-40 minute drive one way to school because he was living with his parents way west of his hometown, Spring Valley.  He was getting up as early as 4:45 some days.  Not only that, he has a wonderful 4 year old boy.  All in all, things were taking a toll on him, so when I say he didn't like 6 AM practices, that is why.  He has a little more on his plate than other WIAC ballers.  So when I say he was sick of 6 AM practices and that they weren't worth it, that is why.  He wants to concentrate on school and is getting married in October, therefore he has other things going on in his life that he deems more important than playing ball.  I guess Adam wants to concentrate on the new golf program that Stout is starting up, but that is all I know about him.  I hope that clears some things up.

Being a father and a husband and a college student is a full slate to be sure. Not being able to mix in college basketball is certainly understandable.

Best wishes to Ryan and his family on their future.

Mythicalbird,

I can only speak for myself, but I appreciate your effort to clear things up.  I think posters got confused because you first said he didn't like 6 am practices and then later said he has a family and other committments.  Your latest post ties everything up.

IMO, I don't think anyone questioned Ryan's committment to his family and non-basketball related items.  I'm sure we all wish Ryan the best of luck in the future, whether that includes basketball or not.  I, for one, will miss watching both Ryan and Adam play.  They were very exciting players to watch.

Anyway, now that that is resolved, I'm going to concentrate on sending emails to the Pointer staff to remind them the schedule is still not up!!! lol.  ;D ;) :D

Mythicalbird,

Let me also chime in with a thank you.

Given the choices involved, what Ryan decided to do was the epitome of a no-brainer.  I too wish him the best of luck and, although I'm not a Blue Devil fan, I'll miss watching him play.  He busted his you-know-what every time he took the floor.

CONGRATULATIONS to Todd Adrian on becoming the new head coach at Edgewood College.
Madison is a lovely town.

T.A. is truly one of the good guys -- pretty funny, too -- and UW-Platteville's loss is Edgewood's gain.
It'll be a scramble for Todd, eh?  He's got to hire a staff, find a house, and try to recruit at this late date.  But he'll do fine.  A lot of players are back from an Eagle team that reached the LMC Final last season, which helps.
I agree with Paul Combs in that it's time for Todd "to have his own team."

Anyone have an ear to the ground on who T.A. is looking at as assistants?  What about the vacancy at Platteville.  Let the rumor mill get grinding.

Good job Myth, my sister graduated from Spring Valley and I know the area well, it is a haul to get to Menomonie from there on HWY 29.

I too am hard on some players sometimes, but sometimes the whole story doesn't come out early enough.  I wish Stangl and Chandler luck too, when in doubt Stout is your best option!

Again, it sounds like UWW won't field the squad this year it sounds like.  Wimmer coming on, I still see Melvin and Chester around the W. Center, but I say that because we did field a large squad last year.  I can't believe how competative it is around here for playing time.  A lot of players try out and don't get on the team or even a jersey.  Good to see, but I know our practice schedule is from like 2-5p.m, including sessions with the trainer in the weight room.

Drama in August.  Gotta love that.

Just curious if any of you WIAC boys or girls would be interested in a WIAC fantasy basketball league.  I was thinking about putting one together for D3, but I'm having a hard time figuring out a fair schedule.  If I did just the WIAC, the schedule is already in place, but just using conference games.  I would need 8 teams and we'd play each team twice for a total of 14 rounds.  With 4 rounds remaining the top four would advance to the semis and play two rounds and then the finals would consist of two rounds.  Just curious if there'd be any interest in such a thing...and of course, I'd still be running the WIAC pick em league.  Have no fear about that.

Old School -

I might be interested in a WIAC fantasy league, seeings my fantasy pro hoops teams over the last zillion years have always been bottom feeders.
The league I am in has guys who know who the 10th guy on each NBA team is, and they have an idea of the subs on the college teams, too. Heck, I don't even know some of the starters in the NBA, let alone the first guy off the bench.

But for me, the WIAC is where it is at; the three hours I spend attending just one Blugold game would be more than the time I devote to the NBA during its entire season, save for filling out a weekly lineup... So I always kid my cohorts that I'd be able to whip them if we had a fantasy WIAC league. Ha.

Keep us posted on this... I'd be interested in both, but particulary a women's league, since the Blugold women have been far more competitive/entertaining over the most recent years than the men...

Old School,

I know a group of guys that have been doing this WIAC Fantasy League for the past 5 years and religiously follow the WIAC, but also the numbers. These guys are die hard fans and do it in a unique way from creating a website, influence their players (in person) to put up better numbers, email the coaches (to get insider info), and more than anything enjoy the D3 basketball that comes with it. A lot of interesting things have happened to say the least... and they explain it by saying, BARPS...
