Lakeland fans, don't fret.  Your 50 tickets will be available on either date.  Hope you don't mind sitting behind the Point band.

They are lucky if they have 50 fans at their HOME games, titan! lol.  Seats by the band are nice.  I like sitting on the end lines.  :D

Luke Homan a basketball player from La Crosse has gone missing since friday evening. He was last seen in downtown La Crosse during the annual Oktoberfest celebration. Here is a link to the Article in the La crosse tribune. http://www.lacrossetribune.com/articles/2006/10/01/breakingnews/00lead.txt If anyone has any info regarding his whereabouts please notify the la crosse police department. And please keep Luke in your prayers.

Sad news.  I'm not in La Crosse right now, so I haven 't heard anything.

I hope he turns up okay.

Luke's body was found in the river by police this morning. Very tragic news. Rest in Peace Luke Homan

Greek Tragedy

Really?  Wow.  I just read that he was missing in today's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.  They really have to do something with the bar scene downtown and the river near by.  It's becoming a common occurance.  My condolences to his family, friends, La Crosse basketball teammates and anyone else involved in his life.

Mr. Downtown

I must admit, only times in my life when I have been in La Crosse have been broadcasting for WRST.

I don't know anything about the downtown region, nor about the bar scene. But how sad of an event, to a good basketball player in Luke Homan. Wow. That's really all I can say is wow. How sad of a story and I wish the best for the Homan's, and UW-La Crosse.

You can count on La Crosse playing extra hard this up coming season for there lost teammate.

Just Bill

My condolences as well.  It's clear the city of La Crosse and UW-L have a serious issue to address before this happens yet again.

It certainly is a tragedy.

La Crosse has a task force looking at preventing these accidents.  The river is only three blocks from the main strip of bars downtown, and I'm surprised someone doesn't fall in every weekend.  many of the task force's proposals have been implemented.  Some are being worked on, and some are controversial.

My thoughts are with the Homan family and the basketball team and his friends.

Mr. Ypsi

My sincere condolences to the family (and ALL who were close to him) of Luke Homan.  IWU had a football player die during pre-season practice last year.  It is sad when anyone dies, but when an in-shape, YOUNG athlete dies, it is especially hard to take. >:(

Of course, I am saddened by the news of Luke Homan's drowning. It puts everything into perspective about what is important in life-family,friends,and contributing to your community. Ours will be poorer for this loss, as will the lives of the people he knew and would have known. Somehow, I don't thnk I"ll enjoy the upcoming season as much as usual. I join with my friends in extending condolences to the family and friends of a fine young man.

I hate stories like this. I hate it when young people who have their whole lives ahead of them die. Young people do so many horribly tragic things while under the influence of alcohol. I just wish people would drink responsibly, or people would watch out for their friends better, or... something. There aren't any words...

My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends and teammates and fellow students right now. :(

this has been so tough for anyone that goes to UWL.  I can't describe the state of classes today.  There was such a different aura about it.  I knew of Luke through friends and can't tell you the toll this has taken on me.  It seems it has on so many others that barely knew him, shows alot of his character and how he touched so many, including a pretty level headed guy like myself.  All i can say is wow and this goes beyond basketball and words in general and all of us feel sorry for the loss to his family and friends.

His touching of so many people is going to be huge though and the community of La Crosse for the future is going to be touched by this young man.  It will finally expose the ineptness of the Lax mayor, police force, etc. in pursuing the real culprit in this case and no it is not alcohol.  Jared Dion's family(the student that died in 2004) was the force behind the 'alcohol task force' and this death will be the force behind saving many lives in the future......(and anyone who knows the story knows where I just indirectly went)

and to get something from my mom, this just reiterates how important it is to tell someone what you think of them before it is too late

The Roop

Talk about passing the buck............

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family," said Mayor Mark Johnsrud. But he asked, "How much due diligence does the city have to do to prevent someone who has been binge drinking from entering the river at Riverside Park?"

Lukes passing would be no less tragic had it been in a car accident, but that would be easier to understand. I've never been to LaCrosse but know a few that attended school there. This certainly is not an isolated incident so how does it keep happening ??
