Mlachnik is one of those unusual off guards who actually shoots better from behind the arc (.400 last season) than he does overall (.392 last season). He seemed to do quite well from the free-throw line (.814).

Judging by Gio Riley's trey-shooting stats from last season (1-11 in 29 games), I take it that Coach Miller has him under strict orders not to shoot the ball from downtown unless it's a five-alarm emergency?

I know this is the men's board, but I thought this was worthy enough to post here too:

D-III UW-Stevens Point women leads Wisconsin at halftime 34-32.  Point led by as much as 13 in the first half.

Does anyone at Stout know what happened in regards to the one Nonemacher twin losing a year of eligibility.  It said in Wednesday's Leader Telegram that the NCAA informed Stout about the loss of the year.  Just wondering the specifics?

Yeah, I don't know much about stats at all.

I read a little bit more about Pat's comments at the media day.  It does look like he is going to have a tough time finding playing time for a lot of players.  There are currently 21 players vyeing for 12-15 spots on the team.  Another good turnout this, it seems every year a lot of guys are trying out and some tough cuts for the coaches to make.  I think our bench will be stronger this year, Price returns to the team also (he was an excellent three point shooter a couple of years ago).  It also sounds like a lot of other teams in the WIAC are returning a lot of starters.

IDK more about the Stout situation, if they lose the bench Nonemacher then that's not going to hurt them at all (John I believe).  Jacob vs. Butch 2night.

Go Badgers!!!!

From what I understand he had one year at a Tech School in Montana.

Yeah, it's the bench one, not the All Conference one.  He used to be a year behind his brother because he redshirted.....but the paper said something about how it had to do with him going to a Tech school before going to Stout, but it wasn't very clear.  I was just wondering if anyone at Stout had any insight.  Hopefully there will be a replay of the game on WI Public TV.  It's always fun to watch our WIAC teams take on the big boys!

There is no replay of the BADGER/Stout game on PBS.  I'm not certain if there is an internet broadcast but the only broadcast I'm certain of will be on radio.  101.5 FM and 1310AM.  7pm

BW-WMEQ(our Broadcast)WWW.WMEQ.com and click on "Listen Live" and you should get it on the internet.  I know our Menomonie/Ash football game is streamed and I am pretty sure the BB game is as well.

I watched the webcast of the UWSP/UW women's game last night on www.UWBadgers.com, and it wasn't bad.  Basically, it's the feed from the scoreboard video screen with the Badger radio broadcast patched over it.

There's no score or time on the screen, so it helps if you also have the Live Stats up and running to help keep track of the score.

Better have DSL. Dial-up won't cut it.

Overall it looks like UWW will be a good representative for the WIAC.  The rest of the teams have enough weaknesses for it to be a down year for the league as a whole.  With the high coaching turnover in recent years, there might be a better future.

1 – Whitewater.  They might just live up to the pre-season ranking.  There might not be a national championship this year, but they are getting closer.  Miller wins with good coaching to go along with the good recruiting they have always had.
2 – Oshkosh.  I'm not giving up on the Titans, but Van Dellen has to come up big with some new offensive ideas this year or it is going to be an even more disappointing season than last year.  Big hole at the off guard spot.
3 – La Crosse.  Another step up for LAX.
4 – Stevens Point.  Great back court, weak front court.  That will work most nights, but not every night with all the high quality big men in the conference.  Last chance to watch Jon Krull.
5 – Platteville.  Skemp has all-American potential.
6 – Stout.  Jacob Nonemacher might be a better NBA prospect than Melzer.   An unexpected rebuilding year.
7 – Eau Claire.  A solid recruiting class looks to save Gibbons' job for another year.
8 – River Falls.  Tough to win with transfers.
9 – Superior.  A POY candidate player, a new coach, increased enthusiasm – unfortunately, the same result.

I didn't listen to the second half but at half time Stout had 14 points and 17 turnovers.  The BADGERS were up by 23.

I tend to agree with MAB.  By no means is Nonemacher in the same planet as Melzer talent wise but the fact is Melzer is 6 7 and Nonemacher is 7 1.  Whereas 6 7 swingmen are a 'dime a dozen' in the nba, 7 1 centers are not.  The center position is a dying breed to some teams in the NBA (see Suns, Sonics) but the teams that want the centers will look anywhere, especially since their is a slight of players with the size and stature to play center in the NBA

Fact is Melzer has a ton of talent 1000's times more than Nonemacher, but he is just another quality player at a position where there are better quality players at his same size and stature in the nba.  The pool Nonemacher has to compete against is much smaller and in much more demand because you can't find any big man anymore.  If this isn't true can you explain to me how Joel Przybilla is still in the league and starting?
