Well it looks like I am the topic of conversation today!  :)

Bird, I will try to defend my posts and respond to yours.

-You posted, "It was a matchup zone with shots hit in their face for the majority of the first half.  Wartburg will make some SERIOUS noise down the stretch in Iowa."

I guess we will agree to disagree here.  I saw plenty of open 3s in the 1st half.  Only 1 or 2 of their made 3s were somewhat closely defended.  I agree with you that Wartburg is a good team and shot very well last night.  They have performed very well in their conferece lately.  EC did make halftime adjustments, WHICH I WILL GIVE CREDIT FOR.  But my question is why it took until halftime (and 9 3s later) to switch things up.

- You posted, "the game was MUCH closer than what Buf stated."

When I see a final score of 75-70, to me it looks like a back and forth battle (or at least a game that was within a few points).  I posted, "Wartburg lead by 15-20pts for most of the 2nd half.  This is a flat out fact!  Look under the boxscore for the game in the play by play section.  Wartburg had a 20pt lead with 10min to go.  EC got within 15pts at the 8min mark.  Wartburg ended up leading by 15 a couple times after this.  Also, keep in mind that Warburg missed the front ends of all 3 of their 1-1 opportunities in the 2nd half.  To me, the game was not as close as the final score indicated!

-You posted,  I was simply pointing out that Buf never puts anything on here positive towards EC, rather waits to post when they lose.

First of all, I don't always only post when they lose.  While I haven't posted much this season on this board, last year I made posts (game summaries) after EC victories.   I usually only post on games that I have attended.  EC had a lot of road games early.   Also, I don't usually go to games vs gimmies like Northland and Finlandia.  I was going to post after the RF game but someone else already had a nice summary of the game.  Actually last year I posted after EC's amazing comeback victory over RF.  I do find it a bit ironic that you called me out about not saying anything positive about EC after my post in which I stated that Bardon played well and kept EC from getting blown out.

-You posted, "All you do is bash, bash, bash.

I will admit at throwing a few jabs towards Gibbons.  But besides that, what else am I bashing.  Of the nearly 700 posts that I have made, very few have been "bash" posts.  I believe that I have not bashed any players (on UWEC nor any other team).  I do "root" for EC to win and play well, but at the same time I express my opinions and feelings weather its positive or negative.  If you think all I do is bash, you better go back through the past pages on this board (last season) and read my posts, especially my post on January 8th, 2006 (pg 67, assuming its that page on your computer also)

My issue with "Gibby" is not personal.  The guy seems likeable(personable).  I just don't like all of the excuses, like "we're young" that he uses every year.  Also, I don't care for the fact that he schedules a lot of gimmies for non-conference games.  I mean c'mon, they have played Finlandia more the last couple years than they have played against conference teams.  He did take a step in the right direction scheduling Watburg for the Holiday Tournament.  Perhaps, we will get back to the days when the Holiday Tournament was loaded with great teams.  Gibbons recruiting has also been suspect since the final four run.  There was a year where he didn't have any new recruits and another year where there was just a couple.  However, I will give him credit for this years recruits.  He got some height which was very needed.  I think Probst has a chance to be a good player.  Hoezel has struggled a bit, but he provides some height in the post.

Well, there you have it.

BUF: You do not have to apologize, you are a good poster!I know your pain. I knew Coach Gibbons personally in EC and he ia a good man. But, I agree with you the glory days are over. He has given a lot of excuses about not finishing with more wins. Do the High academic standards hurt his recruiting? This is what I have heard him say on the radio. ALL Posters: This is a good site, do not criticize people personally, so it does not become a knucklehead site. God Bless and happy New Year!

UWP UPDATE: We lost by 4 last Night to Randolph-Macon in Virginia. They were highly ranked. We not only did not have Mr. Skemp, but Mark Gossens left with a bad ankle at Halftime. Looks like he will play Tuesday against UWO. If not we may be in serious trouble. Blessings and Happy new year!

Perhaps you could share positives instead of just lambasting another's opinion.

Don't make me go "NWC" on your you-know-what, Mr. HOF! lol :D ;D ;) :P

I never put myself in the HOF. That would be sad. :)

Yes, in week 2, when they were #16.  They haven't appeared on any voter's ballot since then.

I don't think that this has been mentioned yet, but Nonemacher from Stout got injured in their victory yesterday.  According to the newspaper, he is likely out next game and could possibly be lost for the season.

Its too bad that there have been a lot of injuries to big time players and players not returning to their teams this year:

Two good players from Stout didn't return, plus now Nonemacher out with an injury.

Two Platteville players injured or banged up.

The loss of Homan at UWL

Cobb injured for Superior

UWO's top recruit (possibly best conference recruit this year) decides to transfer

RF loses probably their best two players for business purposes.

Any others?

Brett Favre's postgame interview on NBC. Hard to watch this and think he's going to come back next season.

ruined my night of going out and partying.  Was planning on getting slammed after the game, this interview ended it.  Having only known Brett as your QB I don't wanna see the 1970's packers in 2007.  After a few hours of thought I am over it.

NOTE: BTW the player I was talking about with Gibbons was a player that tried out 3-4 years ago(I am old balls)

Nice update Oshdude! :P  I was surprised Point did that good last year (4th?)! lol.  They beat Buena Vista and then lost to a pretty good NAIA team that was ranked last year (Mid-America Nazerene) and then lost to a decent Clarke team.  Robert Morris-Chicago basically smoked everyone last year in the tourney.  You'll have to also realize Point's team last year really faltered vs. NC opponents, losing to a good Lakeland team & Edgewood.

Sounds like Oshkosh is getting it together.  I'm looking forward to seeing Oshkosh twice (on Tuesday v Platteville) and Thursday v Grinnell.  I advice anyone who hasn't seen Grinnell play, go to Oshkosh!  It's a treat!

Well, this non-Packers fan is getting sick of the annual soap opera.  Why doesn't he just make a decision and announce it?  Might help the packers to know the quarterback decision as they prepare for the draft.

Ted Van Dellen was named the, ahem, top coach. I'll leave that one alone.
Has he had the success of a Bo Ryan or a Jack Bennett??  No, but outside of those two I would put him in the next tier as most successful coaches from the WIAC in the last 15+ years.

How quickly people forget that only four years ago, a TVD led squad was just 5 points short of a Final Four appearance.  ::)
