1) Bo Ryan - Platteville - They dominated the 1990s, and are perhaps the only team I can think of that has dominated the sport, a la Mount Union has done in football...

I can hear the Gregory Sager Countdown Clock ticking from here... :D

Believe it or not, DC, I read bulk19's post right after it appeared, and I refrained from responding. I'd like to say that it was as a result of some New Year's resolution to show more self-restraint when it comes to tooting my alma mater's horn, but, alas -- it was the words "the only team I could think of" that kept me from posting. It would've made anything I might've said about NPU's hoops legacy seem a bit intrusive and boorish.

However, since you've now conveniently provided an opening for me ... ;)

Bulk, North Park won five national championships in ten years between 1978 and 1987.

Gregory Sager -
Heard you might be showing up here, so I hightailed it on out...

Oversight on my part, considering North Park has hooked up with Whitewater in the tournament...

Hey - my nickname suggests offensive lineman, so if I provide the opening, go for it. Ha. Nothing wrong with tooting the alma mater's horn; it ain't bragging if you've done it...

But I blame my ignorance on the WIAC/WSUC being NAIA until the 1983 tournament, so your first three titles don't count in my book!  ;)

On another matter, I say watch out for Superior.  Don't laugh.  I did a game in Menomonie last night and the Superior coach was "way down here" recruiting a nice Altoona kid.  He also told me that Cobb is back and that he has a new tranfer in his lineup 2nd semester who will make them better.  They will win some games, I think.

You might be right eventually, but Superior's rebirth will have to wait for another night.  The Pointers put a serious hurtin' on the Jackets tonight 101-45.

The Pointer game was not quite as close as the final score would indicate. This was a case of the Pointers hitting on all cylinders and Superior playing "matador" defense for the most part. The score was 15-9 at the 14 minute mark and after that "OLE". I know Leonard Cobb is just back from an injury so that could explain his poor showing, but Nobles and  Burton-Norman were the only other players that apparently made the trip. Just have to hope the Dawgs didn't pick up any bad habits before the Stout game this Saturday.

Chris Fehrenbach hit 3's from each corner to start the game, and the Eagles were on their way to a GREAT 1st half. Aggresive "D" held the flummoxed Blue Devils in check, and LC led 38-11 at half. T.J. Nereng contributed several 3's in his distinctive "bombs away" manner. To Stout's credit, they chipped away all during the second half, pulling to within 10 with just under 5 mins. to go. LC regained the shooter's touch to register the win. THE EAGLES APPEAR READY TO CHALLENGE FOR THE TOP SPOT. BIG game next Wednesday with Oshkosh coming to Mitchell Hall.

How low has the fan support for UWEC men fallen. Only 260 for attendence against UWW. WhenI was at UWW 73 to 75 we took that many fans to Zorn.Eli Crogan Vs the hall of Fame coach Anderson would pack the house. Are the fans voting with their feet? Blessings!

In comparison, UWEC women had 855 for attendance tonight.

I'm not sure there were any that were picked up.  They played awesome, even when they were up 30+.  They still played with heart, stellar defense, fighting for lose balls etc.  Quite amazing considering it would've been easy to "lay off" a little with such a huge lead.  The bench was cleared, and I mean cleared (the 11-15 guys basically, with only Drew Jackson the only "recognizable face"-my apologies to the end of the bench on the floor) at the 8-minute mark.

Great game and effort by all the Pointers.  Swampgoon, BanditUWSP and I were discussing the idea of getting Kevin Grusczynski more minutes, but it's hard to find them.  Drew Jackson?  He's probably the most athletic and he (along with Hicklin) is probably the best on the team in hitting those mid-range jumpers.  KG might be able to come in for Krull a bit more, splitting time with Krautkramer.  Tough to take away minutes from the top 7.

Big game at Stout this weekend...heard the half time score of the La Crosse/Stout game was 38-11!!!???  Wow.

What is it with LAX that they can't seem to put teams away in the 2nd half?  They were up 25 points early in the 2nd half against Calvin at Wooster and Calvin brought it back to where the Knights were a 3 ball that didn't fall from making it a 2 possession game.  And then tonight up 27 points at the half and they allow Stout to cut it to 10?  Do they just lose focus after building up such a big lead?  I know it's easy to put it in cruise control, but allowing teams to cut 15-18 points off the lead is a bit more than putting it in cruise control.

Any Yahoos making the Grinnell/Oshkosh game, I'll try to be there ON TIME (maybe 15 minutes before tipoff) and I'll be wearing my patented Rangers Starter jacket along with my purple Pointer hat...I'll hang out near the person who sells programs and near the "stereo system" setup...
