Great talking to you.  Yes, Semling does hide out before games but whatever his pregame preparation is, he should keep doing it.  Semling and his program are a class act.  They deserve that #1 ranking.  Thanks, Pat Coleman for the Sat. morning radio chat.  Nice to hear you say that you thought that 2 WIAC teams per year in the tournament could probably be expected but probably not 3 like last year.  Thanks, also, to Jack Bennett for Sat. morning radio chat. I Told him that now that he is a big shot TV guy it's good that he still talks to us.  He still reads this stuff, by the way.  And FredFalcon, we are coming down Wed. to call the RF/Stout game, but I am scared.  Your guys sound really improved.  You need to tell me about the officating in that WW game, though.  28 WW free throws to 14 for you and then the T at the end.  Talk to us!!!!!!  Someone (who also wasn't there) told me that the RF coach thought he had 6 men on the court but didn't.

bw--Robertson, good as he is as a freshman, gets to the line more than anyone else, but shoots only about 50% from there. Had he been a better free thrower, we would have won both the overtime games this season. On the other hand, he made 8/9 f.g. attempts, and last time I looked was either leading or close to it on f.g. percentage in the league.

He was 3-6 from the line and can get to the basket.  Most of his shots were point blank though we were doing our best to defend him.  Had a good game overall.  The kid that really jumped out was Courtney Davis.  He has major quicks and was a load to defend.  It was a tough break for the Falcon when he had to leave with an injury.  I hope he's going to be alright.  Very nice player, impressed me a lot.   Ryan Thompson has also improved.  He played a very steady game, 10 assists vs 2 to's despite alot of pressure in the backcourt and drilled a clutch NBA length three-pointer.   I thought the Falcon played pretty well particularly on the road and they shot lights out.  They're not that bad of a team.

I doubt there are many down here who don't realize how lucky we were to get this win.

The end to the UWW and River Falls game was interesting.  The layup that gave RF the lead should have been called a Kicked-Ball violation. It all evened out with overtime.  The RF coach was way out there and the RF player left the floor inexplicably.  As I stated early in the year, once Miller realizes what he has in Price and gets a rotation that functions well together UWW will be ok.  I am not convinced they are there yet, but it is an improvement.  Nice to see Superior win too.

After the ugly UWO/EC game, I treated myself to an even uglier game at Ripon, where LU looked horrible. That's as poorly I've seen the Vikings play in my dozen years of following the team. They had 13 points and 17 turnovers at the break. Didn't get much better in the second. Just brutal basketball.
Must mean Tharp is not a "great coach" since they played so poorly..... ::) :o ::)

Hey, I'm with Old School on this one.  Holy cow, BDB, you are a hockey guy.  Anderson brothers----that is terrible.  That lame excuse about it being an old movie just doesn't cut it.  This whole incident reminds me of an old movie I watched last night---"They Shoot Horses, Don't They?"

RE: Platteville/Superior

This one stung quite a bit.  UWP up 10 with 5:45 to go in the game and only score two FT's the rest of the game.  Lohoff had a well-designed play when the game was tied, but many of us thought he shot the ball will too much time on the clock (around 9 seconds).  Again, it was basically an iso for Lohoff, and he had a pretty decent lane to drive and score but just barely missed the shot (it would have been foolish to turn up the open lane up, but they just ran it a little too soon).  A jump ball after the rebound gave Superior the ball with 7 seconds to go.  Burton-Norman found a wide open spot near the free throw line to nail down the winning shot.

Even without Skemp and Gossens, they played well until the 5:45 mark and then couldn't get anything to go.  No doubt it will be nice to get Gossens back.  The younger players are really stepping up and are capable of getting some W's.  If they continue to develop, this team may look a lot like Point from last year to this one.  One year they go through their struggles, but they put their experiences to good use and become a very good team the next.  That's our hope anyway!!

Regarding Superior: I think they are getting on the right track.  Their coach seems to be a quality person and definitely wants things done his way.  In fact, one of his players kicked a chair with quite a bit of time to play and was benched the rest of the game.  He was a starter.  If he can build a foundation, they will improve a lot, but I guess time will tell if they will be competitive on a daily basis.  I do not envy someone trying to rebuild in Superior though!

Hilarious Flash!  :D

Well, my "hey, it's an old movie" excuse didn't work. Being a hockey guy I can't believe I said Anderson Bros. either.   :P

How about this one. It was Sunday morning.  ;D
