Mr. Downtown

I'll be doing radio...so come on over to the WRST flag. I'm the taller one of the radio announcers.

The FSN situation in a way makes me smile. Being a (competitive) student station, the fact that in all honesty doesn't make too much sense for the conference to do this deal for the conference cities would reduce the restrictions on us.

However, remember...this deal isn't supposed to aim for conference schools. It's suppose to garner some attention from Madison and Milwaukee.

So Eau Claire, Stout, Superior, River Falls, and I'm assuming La Crosse, you're out of luck.

With Whitewater and Oshkosh having the games broadcasted live, doesn't make too much sense to watch a FSN broadcast of an Oshkosh game in Oshkosh, and vice versa for Whitewater.

Platteville student station tape delays and rebroadcasts the next day.

Now...if you live in Stevens Point. The world is perfect  :D

Very soon, TTV Sports will be streamming our broadcasts. Recently we had to turn down a deal to rebroadcast our games through Time Warner across the state of Wisconsin, because of conflict with FSN deal.

BDB,stoutguy--You'll not be surprised that I'd just love to buy, buy, buy brewskie after brewskie following the game, but I know stoutguy will  continue his years old practice of leaving town right after the game on the bus with his broadcasting partner, and BDB will attend a hockey game elsewhere. And I won't be there either, as I "volunteered" to be host to my wife's choir party. What a way to spend an evening when the Falcons are playing home! However, I will be listening, and should you guys actually be available post game, we could tip 'em back at Luigi's--after the choir party participants stagger on home, that is.

FredFalcon.  You have reached a new low in the "man's man" kingdom.  You are Oshkosh's answer to Superfan regarding RF basketball, your team is playing the hated rival, dirty, rotten, cheating Stout and you are hosting a CHOIR PARTY!!!!  My, my, my, my my!!!!!!

And, yes, I will be with the team after the game, so I don't think Luigi's can be in my plans.

I find it quite accurate for La Crosse cable.  BTW, blame the NFL for not getting the game.  They want NFL TV included in extended basic packages even though it costs big money.  And they decided that Eau Claire (and La Crosse) were not "local" enough to get the game on over the air TV.  I'm not watching the playoffs as a way to thank the NFL for their greed.

As far as the game, it is a big one.  If La Crosse has visions of competing for the title, they MUST win at home.  This game is essential for both teams.  I'll be there.

Mr. Downtown, Brian Carroll and I should be there.  We'll try to say hello.

You can actually blame Charter.  My roommates and I did some investigation at Charter, being so upset about not seeing the Packer/Viking game. We found out that it would cost each Charter member an additional 70-some cents if NFL network were to go on the extended basic cable.  Instead we get channels like G4 (video gaming) Lifetime (no male on this board watches it) and other crap channels that are stuck on the extended basic.  An employee at Charter who I know also told me that Charter could easily get rid of some "low ratings" channels to off set the 70-some cent cost.  However, the big wigs at EC Charter won't do it because they are upset with the NFL.  Therefore, we are paying for Charter's stubbornness.  That is from the mouth of an employee.  I think I am going to DirecTV!!!  ;)

Student TV in Stevens Point used to do live and tape delay games as well, but they were slashed hard by budget cuts and no longer have the resources (or the student interest) to do it.

Mr. Downtown

When I heard what happened to them, my heart sunk. I just wonder sometimes if faculty and professors really do look out for what's best for the students, or what's best for them.

stoutguy--evidently you deal with cold shoulder and hot tongue better than I do.

I wish Platteville still did this.  7 years ago, they did pretty much every home game, but over the years I see them doing less and less.  I know I haven't seen them at a home game yet this year.  I don't know if its budget, interest or what, but I personally like listening to the student's perspective of what they are seeing vs. someone who has been doing this for a long time.

Oh wow! I didn't know that! Did they just stop doing this year? Or do they just do football now?

Fred, maybe he should run for Mayor of Menomonie!  :D

No forget that. As a former long time Driver's Ed instructor I still blame him for all the lousy drivers we have around here.  ;)

Stoutguy- did you ever teach them what a STOP sign means?  ;D

Mr DT

I don't know.  Maybe now it is just a second semester project.  We'll find out I guess when the semester starts, but it seems to be less and less every year.

Student interest is declining in the communication techologies' major and general media interest.  Our annual two-day telethon to benefit a local charity was moved to one day this year because they were short on volunteers/students to do the work.

They were still doing football this year, but I haven't seen anyone doing tv up to this point.  I only recall a few (at the most) b-ball games last year.  Radio is still strong though.

Fine.  Just stop picking on my drivers.  Remember, they all stop in and by gas at that Bob and Steve's Amoco Place.  Regarding running for Mayor.  That cold shoulder and hot tongue issue would really come in to play in that job.

Rico 21

Driver's ed. instructor huh...  does the fact that you run everywhere you go in Menomonie mean you don't even trust your own driving abilities teach?

Rico 21

Stoutguy -

Rico just checked out the pick 'em (sorry all, must have thought I was on LLPPer board).  Anyway, is there any truth to what BDB implies...   specifically, you never post your picks until after him?
