Greek Tragedy

Wow, I didn't realize his injury was that serious.  That's too bad.  The guy was a monster inside.

Congrats to Joe Werner on Player of the Week! This is the 2nd time he's won it.  What's up with Point? They must not be doing too well since they haven't won a POTW since Dec. 19th!!! lol  :D

Unlike previous years, it was really tough to get a midseason AC list...even in the past where we've only listed FIVE! lol.

I would've like to get Dan Beyer (EC), Jerrel Enerson-Matthews (ST) and Bryan Beamish (SP) or Steve Hicklin (SP) and even James Nobles (SUP) on the team as well.

Gossens, IMO, was in the same boat as Leonard Cobb of Superior.  He was injured and didn't play in two conference games...missing 2 of 7 or 8  is a lot.

I think Werner earned the award this week, but one would think a Point player should win it sometime!

Maybe I am wrong here, but the thing I like most about Point is their balance.  Anyone in their top 8 is capable of going off at any time.  Maybe that has something to do with their lack of POW's??

There have been 8 POW's named.  Half (4) are from Point so I kind of doubt  that is involved.  Though I agree that Point has great balance and that definitely makes them a difficult team to prepare for.

Looking forward to the match-up tonite between the Pioneers and Pointers.  This will be first chance to see the Pointers play this season.  I would like to see my Pioneers keep one streak alive and in the process start one. The Pioneers have defeated the Pointers 3 straight times in Williams Fieldhouse, 3 straight times in the regular season, and if the win tonight, it will be 3 straight which constitutes a winning streak.

OS--2 days ago the word on Robertson from the coach was that he would not  play vs. Lax. Today, the word from same source is that he may play tonite if the trainer says okay. Still, he won't be near full strength. Looks like he's able to play vs. Pointers, tho.
It's a high ankle sprain.

In the "for what it's worth" category, the former WIAC officials commissioner, Don Page, told me the other day that back in the fifties during an Ivy League football game, there was a fifth quarter accidentally allowed in one game. The teams were tied at the end of four quarters, but the officials lost track and allowed another quarter. The team that won in that fifth quarter later forfeited, in a gesture of good sposrtsmanship. "That's what WW should do in the case of the technical foul at the end of the RF game--a  wrong call which should not have been made," says  Page. That it was a wrong call has been corroborated by the current WIAC commissioner as well.

But I think I know what WW fans would think of such a gesture on the part of the Warhawks.
