THAT, my friends, was sarcasm.

OS, I don't think El-Amin's gonna have a big of game as you think. Doedens D has really improved lately-El Amin probably'll get his assists, but points-wise I don't think so.

I think Oshkosh has a chance to pull of the upset. Will they-I'm not sure.

I have no doubt that Oshkosh will be more prepared Wednesday than they were at the beginning of the year.  Having "a big game" doesn't mean scoring a lot, especially when we're talkinga bout El-Amin. He seems to be a true point guard, like Relerford, who runs the team and will possibly get a lot of assists.  El-Amin is one of those guys where the boxscore always doesn't tell the whole story.  He may only hit about 2-4 shots, but they'll most likely be timely.

I, too, think Oshkosh has a chance to pull off the upset, but I also had that feeling when we went to Platteville (which they almost did) and also thought that against River Falls (which they obviously didn't).

Looking back two years ago, Point won by 25, with Bennett and Kalsow going 15-31 (48%) and scoring 43 of 69 (62%).  On the return trip, Oshkosh won by 15 with Kalsow and Bennett going just 11 of 32 (34%) and scoring 35 of 59 points (59%).

This year, Point won by 13 and Krull and Rortvedt went 13 of 20 (65%), but "only" 38 of 89 points or 42.6%.  The other three starters (Hicklin-19, Beamish-10, and El-Amin-10) went for 39 points.

It's going to be a great game and I'll be on pins and needles!

UW-Superior got a nice commitment over the weekend out of Coach Gibbons backyard. 6'5 senior Shane Manor from Altoona hs is going up north next season. He's been averaging 17.5 pts per game and has made around 14-15 3 pt shots for the Rails this season.  He's got good quickness and nice athleticism.

OS, I understand you felt those 2 teams might have pulled the upset-but are you honestly comparing the chances the Titans have to pull the upset as the same that the Pioneers and Falcons had?

Ummm...yeah.  Platteville had been playing pretty well and Point has had troubles at Williams in recent years.  Even the championship teams couldn't win down there.  Platteville had recently beaten Whitewater, away.  Whitewater had been playing pretty good and it was a surprise for the Pioneers to go into Whitewater and win.  So, Platteville looked like they were close to even money in toppling the Dawgs...and they had their chances and Point really grinded that game out.

River Falls had also been playing well, though they hadn't been all wins.  They barely lost to YOUR Titans by 3 and then ripped La Crosse (one of the hottest teams in the league) without their best post player in Robertson.  River Falls also played Point tougher than your Titans played Point, apologies to Oshkosh.  So, that game really scared me too.

Overall, I guess you can say I'm comparing Oshkosh's chances of winning to Platteville's and River Falls' chances, which are and were good.  Is that good enough for you? lol  :o ;D :D

Hold on...hold on.

Back then (cause it feels a long time ago), Point was already walking into Kolf with 3 games under there belt. Oshkosh...a measly one against Edgewood.

It was pretty obvious that the Titans exactly weren't up to speed, especially to the speed of the Pointers, hence the trumping the Pointers had.

IMO, no way can you take what happened in the first match up, to now. Oshksoh is 13-1 since starting the season 2-2, with the lone loss being a one point heartbreaker @ La Crosse.

Also, how can you say River Falls played the Pointers tougher, if they gave up 106 points!!! At least Oshkosh made it close halfway in the 2nd half!

I can agree with the Platteville statement, just because of past history, but don't bring up the recent River Falls game. You can't make a point about how tough a team played when they lose by 45 (actually, Stevens Point had 61...at halftime. It took the Falcons 40 minutes to score the same amount of points, while Point scored that many in 20.).

Manor should be a quality pickup for Superior.  If he adds some weight he could be really good.

I don't think that Gibbons "recruiting" backyard extends beyond his "property" backyard.  :D

I'm going to wager here that OS was referring to the first River Falls game (played 3 days after the Oshkosh game) that Point won 81-73.  RF was within striking distance the whole game and gave the Pointers fits up until the final horn.

Actually, Mr DT, I believe OS was speaking about the first game the Falcons and Pointers played in RF.  Point only won the game by 8, whereas Point won the game at Kolf by 13.  RF cut the lead to 6 in the last minute, Oshy couldn't get it less than 10.

What OS had said was that prior to the SECOND RF game, it appeared that this was going to be a barnburner...  I told him that I felt it was going to be a game where both teams were in the 90's, as they were the two highest scoring teams in the league.  I did NOT expect the result that happened either.  Point was on pace to score about 160 pts for the game through the first 4 or 5 minutes, and they really played great defense, but they also rebounded hard, outrebounding RF by 12.

I love "on pace" statistics.  A team I was on once scored a lay-up directly off the opening jump ball, about 2 seconds into the game.  Some math major on the bench quipped, "Hey we're on pace to score 2,400 points tonight!"

Anyway, back to the discussion...

It's a great way to point out to a team that's been playing tremendously (and is still playing well, but just not AS well) that they could be doing more!!

I was obviously referring to Point's first meeting with River Falls up there.

Oshkosh is obviously playing better, and yes, they only had one game under their belt when they hosted Point.  But, on the other hand, I think Point is also playing better.  It's six of one and half dozen of the other.  I think Oshkosh has a real shot at knocking off the Pointers.  That doesn't mean they will, but they do have a chance and I'm definitely not overlooking them or thinking it's going to be a cakewalk!  See ya tomorrow.

By the Way...it's about time!!!!

(I'm being sarcastic)

Rortvedt wins WIAC Player of the Week lol  ;D :D ;) :) :P ::)

Congrats Pete!  Oh yeah, I'm going against you in my fantasy league tomorrow.  By all means, score a million points...I don't care, just so Point wins!!
