Thinking of catching the big game with mr. Downtown on the net. I hope UWO wins, to keep a race for the crown. However, i think Point should be favored. Should be a great game! God Bless!

It should be a great game between two fine teams.

Whitewater and La Crosse, on the other hand, will be scrapping for survival.

Sorry buddy, no call on the Point game. Even how great of a place Quandt is...its not as media friendly as the Kolf Sports Center is.

Oh well...I get to be a fan for this one! It's been 2 years since I've been in Point.

However...

For free, everyone can watch next Wednesday's showdown between Oshkosh and La Crosse via TTV Sports. Trust me, with TitansRus and I on the call, it'll be a good broadcast   :D ;D

Mr. Downtown

Here's a stat that'll blow your mind.

Whitewater has had a total of 536 fans in 4 conference home games  :o

Yikes! Perhaps someone should remind Whitewater fans its basketball season, not wondering "who'll be the team captains next year for the football team."

Seriously, lame Whitewater. Very very lame.

Downtown,

Here's something that will blow your mind.....

I'm not sure where you get your data but the attendance for the Platteville game alone was 536.  I've attended every home game and I can assure you that the gym wasn't vacant in the other games.

Aside from the absurdity of someone from Oshkosh getting on another program's attendance your comment was seriously lame, Downtown.  Very, very lame.  Hopefully you check your facts more throughly for your broadcasts.  ;)

Straight from the WIAC stat page, my friend:

http://www.uwsa.edu/wiac/mbasket/HTML/CONFONLY.HTM

It clearly say's that Whitewater has played 4 conference home games, and that a total of 536 people have attended these games.

So maybe...nobody showed up to the first 3 home conference games! (NOT!...at least I hope that wasn't the case...)

I dunno, perhaps someone should let the conference know they have a stat error.

Just Bill

It would appear that the UWW SID (and/or his student staff) has not done a good job of entering the attendance figures into the StatCrew program.  Only the Platteville game was entered (536) and the other three WIAC games were left blank.  Blame it on sloppy reporting from the UWW sports info office.

The first and still most accurate description of the D3 Championship BeltTM thread.

ItIsWhatItIs

The Fans have come to the games for UWW even considering that some of the games have been during break and there is just an overall sense of disappointment from a talented team.

It's clearly mistaken, Downtown.   Why don't you let them know?  For some reason unclear to me you seem to be the one most concerned about the data.

Mr. Downtown

I was doing research for a possible story about attendance trends this season, especially Oshkosh vs. the rest of the conference. I noticed Whitewater's misprinted stat. Sorry. Though, how I'm I supposed to know how many people are attending games? Shoot...I don't even trust Oshkosh's head count, and I've been to all of them this year.

No hard feelings, just pointing out what I saw on the WIAC stat page. This has me worried, because they should be the best source of stats, and when they're not, sometimes people like me are subject to critiscm for pointing out these stats.

The lame comment was an indirect slam on the message boards this year, and the sudden lack enthusiasm of the Whitewater Basketball Program this year. All I hear out of Whitewater is what the football team is going to do next year. Big whoop. Believe it or not, with the success the Women's Basketball team, wrestling, and most likely the success the baseball team will have again this year, Whitewater fans have a lot going for them this year outside of football.

Then again, in Oshkosh, we are used to not talking about the football team a great deal. Maybe we should be just like Whitewater, and talk about Women's Track and Field all the time ;D :D ;)

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

I don't blame you for not talking about your football team.  If I was from Oshkosh I wouldn't talk about them either.

Leaving the attendance blank hurts all of Division III. When the NCAA publishes those attendance numbers at the end of the season, the zeroes drag down the entire average.

"Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan is following in the footsteps of greats such as James Naismith, John Wooden, Lute Olson and Mike Krzyzewski and getting a court named after him. Not in Madison, though. (What, did you think they would canonize the guy after five-and-a half years at UW?) The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where Ryan won four Division III national championships between 1991-99, is honoring him on Jan. 27 by naming the Williams Fieldhouse floor "Bo Ryan Court." The Badgers, who play at Iowa the next day, have volunteered to attend the presentation. "As I was talking on the phone with members of [UW-Platteville's athletic department], Alando Tucker was listening in and asked why the entire team couldn't go," Ryan told the UW-P's student newspaper. "So now we will all make the trip." Hopefully they'll be exposed to old Bo pictures like this one from the '91 title team, in which he has yet to start resembling a Badger, and current Wisconsin-Milwaukee coach Rob Jeter is still a player ... with a classic moustache. "

Mr. Downtown

Little info about Luke Winn....

He's a Fort Atkinson native (just like me, which I was recently deemed as "The second coming of Luke Winn and Sal's Sports Bar during Thanksgiving. Whatever... :D).

Not surprising he puts Wisconsin @ #1. Seeing that a couple years ago when it was his job to rank the top MLB parks, he puts Miller Park @ #1.

I like his writing style and his articles, just want to put out there, that even in the national scene, there are still homers  ;D :D

Very cool to have the piece about Bo Ryan Court. I think that is a wonderful think that UW-Platteville is doing. I think next should be replacing the rims  ;)
