The Pioneer-Blugold game was a good way to end with the halftime dedication.  I thought that EC was going to mop the floor with the Pioneers.  Platteville came out flat, not entirely focused on what they were doing.  There were a number of distractions coming in to their game.  First, I think starting with their loss on Wednesday to Clarke, then the Alumni game at Noon, Bo Ryan and the Badgers being there, 2300 people in the stands vs. the usual 1000ish.  EC shot very well in the first half, and by far out played the Pioneers.

The half time dedication was very nice.  Neither team retired to their locker rooms for the half.  After the dedication, they put 2:00 min on the clock to loosen up.  This seemed to affect UWP at first, but once they got a score, their attitudes and desire changed.  They went from a team that didn't know what to do, to a team that played with intelligence and passion for the first time in 24 min of game time.  I give all the credit in the world to Terry Gibbons and his staff, coming down on a day that was obviously important to UWP and almost stealing a win.  Not going to the locker and being able to make adjustments and really giving the time to Coach Ryan shows a lot of character.

Late in the second half Gibbons makes a great call after a time out, by for 1 pos. switching to a 2-3 zone, causing the Pioneers to miss a shot.  Pville got the ball back giving Lohoff the chance to hit a 3 late in the shot clock.  Press was applied, Pioneers get the ball back and on a rebound Pioneer miss, about 5 guys were all tied up with the ball under the hoop, giving the jump ball poss to Pville.  On the out of bounds play, Tets, slips his screen and lays the ball in.  Again tight pressure by the Pioneers, causes an arrant pass to be intercepted by Jamerson, who was fouled and sunk his throws.

Again, hats off to Eau Claire.  I would really hate for the these two teams to match up in the tourney, cause I don't know if the Pioneers could win that way 3 times in a row.

FYI, Fox Sports net was doing this game as well on Saturday, and the tape delay is to be shown Feb 6th @ 9:45 PM.  I also see, the game Wednesday night with Pville vs. WhiteH20 is to be taped as well.

Greek Tragedy

All eyes on La Crosse this week.  They travel to Oshkosh hoping, not only for a win, but that would give them a sweep of Oshkosh...and then a win at home to Point.  Man, those two losses to River Falls and Eau Claire...ouch.  I think their season is on the line here.

Old School, none of us were doing radio-radio was done, but none of us were there because we were on break between our winterim and 2nd semester classes and most students were gone. Sounds like they looked good.

Yeah.... my best friend's dad did this in a friend's conversion van, in the middle of a pretty big lake...

The removal job that time was much more towards the $10,000 end... a guy with a helicopter ended up having to do it.

My friend's dad was really, really lucky, though... he went down almost to the bottom of an over 25 foot deep lake, and when he swam towards the surface, he TWICE missed the hole...

This guy has *almost* died (SHOULD have died, according to my friend) about 11 times that they've counted...

Anyway, back to basketball...  Anybody know if two WIAC teams have ever been in the top 5 together?

I can't answer your question, PS, but I'd be surprised if it has never happened.

This is a big week for LaX.  I think the Oshkosh game will be tough to win.  We haven't played all that well on the road.

Point is possibly a better team than Oshkosh, but we are unbeaten at home.  That will be a tough game for them, I think.

I'd say we lose to the Titans and give the Pointers a great game that could go either way.

Mr DT--I'm curious if you stopped at the Anchor when you were in Superior? Or, if you ate at all. Just curious
