TO Old School: Not a bad list but Goose is a better choice than Loaff from Platteville. He is the consumate team player who makes everyone better. While your list is a little homerish, it is still good. God Bless!

I needed another guard.  :D  It was either Lohoff or Brandon Brown from La Crosse.

I'm currently watching the Eau Claire v La Crosse game on FSN.  I am taking notes on how to beat La Crosse, since Oshkosh doesn't know how (low blow! lol) and will be giving my cheatsheet to Coach Semling before tip-off tomorrow afternoon!  ;D :D ;)

Old School -

I was at the UWEC-UWL game, and watched both the men's and women's games tonight, too. Although it's much more fun to see them in person, it is kind of neat to see the rebroadcasts. Pick up on stuff I missed, and clarified a few things I wondered about and posted about after that game... Lots sure can happen, and did, in the standings since those games two weeks ago...

I'm even more amazed at Brandon Brown's performance after seeing it a second time...

Coach Bennett was quite entertaining and informative; he can bring so much WSUC/WIAC history to the broadcast. Well done. Not quite as animated as when he was coaching, though. Although I don't know that for sure, since he doesn't get the airtime/face time as a broadcaster during the game as he would have gotten had he been coaching.  ;)

Big game tomorrow for you guys and the Eagles... Playoff-like atmosphere at Quandt, no doubt. Should be packed, and fun. Hope you get to sit by the band... I think I recall you say you sit by them?

Since I have dual citizenship  ;), having attended both UWEC (alum) and UWSP, I've got to jump on the Pointer bandwagon tomorrow. These are the kind of games that make this such a great conference...

One of my Pointer buddies in GB, who saw the first game over in Oshkosh, has a write-in vote for your mid-term poll, with Krull as POY...

Bulk,

The Point/LaX game is at Mitchell tomorrow in La Crosse, not in Point.  The first round game was a Point victory 67-64 at HOME, not on the road.

I still think there should probably be a DECENT crowd... though the weather may keep some of the Point fans who would normally travel to a big game like this away...

I, for one, will be making the trip over.

My pick for POY this year... is actually Rortvedt.  Though Krull has definately been a leader for Point, I think PR's play has carried the Pointers more, even, than Krulls, though this was a switch from early on in the year.  What was Krull averaging through the first 3 or so games...?  30 points per game?

Point Special -

My goof on the location. I was messing things all up when I posted that; had to modify it because I'd originally typed in that they were playing the Titans again... In LaX, that means there probably won't be a Quandt-like crowd you guys are used to...

My Pointer buddy picked Krull, well, because he went to Point, and therefore isn't as smart as a Blugold.  ;) I agree with you! Ha.

Safe travels, and I hope you see a good game...

Definitely entertaining and informative...though I don't need to know if they sweat more in a sweater vest or a suit! lol.  ;D :D ;)

Don't be such a homer! lol. ;D.  It's probably Werner.  Rortvedt is probably POTY FOR Point.  I was also thinking about Gibson too...how much he effects a MOST games.  I think teams game plan around both guys though!

Mr. Downtown

You can watch the Stout/Oshkosh game via TTV Sports

go to titans.uwosh.edu and click on Live Video.

Game is @ 5pm.

titan2000

They charge too much ($8.95) on that Titan TV.  OF course they charge too much at the door at the Kolf Center as well ($7) in my view.

If they want to fill the joint up they need to charge $3 and every 5th fan through gets a refund.  If they advertised and had a coach who was effective in promoting the program, there could be 3,000 per game there.

(3000 x 4/5 x $3) is a lot more than (400 x $7).
Plus 3000 people eat a lot more popcorn and hot dogs, as well as buy programs.

Whoa! Slow down here. Stoutguy has underwear older than Mr. Downtown. When he started out the balls were probably square.I guess if you like his broadcasts better, that's just FINE.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

You Point guys here, just a question to ponder.

Is there a difference between a POY and an MVP? In other sports, sometimes these award winners are two different people.

With that in mind, is Krull a POY, while Rortvedt is the MVP? Not sure what the answer is, as it may just be a matter of semantics... Gibson is a good choice, as is Werner... I think I'd cast my final vote after the WIAC tourney, though, to see who really steps up bigtime when an NCAA berth is on the line...

Krull is a stud, a POY, but Rortvedt's success, since it's coming so soon as a soph, has really been an MVP-like caliber boost for the Pointers. Posted great stats last year as a frosh, too...

But whatever the case may be, or how the votes would be tallied, that's quite a nice situation you guys have in Point... Of course, they are both pretty well grounded, I'm thinking, and will both give up individual accolades for another banner to hang up Quandt...

Speaking of banners, I'd forgotten about all the ones that used to hang in Zorn, until the guys mentioned it. I must admit, I like lining the walls of the gym with them, rather than lumping them all on one, like UWEC now does. It sure does look intimidating to see the south wall at Quandt, and the two championship banners on the north wall, next to Terry Porter...

Nice win for you Pointer fans today; I just happened to be in my car, and punched up the LaX radio broadcast as I was scanning for the Blugolds' game. Heard the final second, the very last play. They didn't get a shot off to tie, but I bet you Pointers didn't exhale until 5-10 minutes after the game.  ;)

I didn't broadcast the men's game. However, I did do the women's game, and when the game is 70-45...without breaks (don't get me started...student radio station stuff), yeah, it was bad.

I'll let you guys know the next time when I broadcast a men's game on radio.

Bulk,

It was a heck of a game, and La Crosse had a heck of a crowd there.  about 1400 according to the box score.  There was a great basketball atmosphere, and, for the first time I can remember at Mitchell, the LaX fans outnumbered the Point fans at least 3-1.  The whole second half the gym was LOUD, especially in the last 10 mins.  Point stretched the lead to 13 with 9:08 and got the ball back off a rebound, but a turnover by Rortvedt (who got his 3rd foul in the first half with :55 to go in the half - more later on that) allowed Werner to work inside and cut the lead back to 11.  Point turned the ball over on the ensuing possession and then allowed 2 offensive rebounds and Werner got to the line, hitting 1/2, cutting the lead to 10.  LaX forced ANOTHER TO (Point had 12 for the game... 4 more than usual), but Point got the board off a miss, but Krull missed a tough inside shot, which was followed by a lay-up by Nehring, and the lead was cut to 8.  From this point on, it was GAME ON... LaX's fans were LOUD, and everything Point did, LaX seemed to have and answer for.  Hicklin hits a tough 3, Werner gets the bucket and one.

A pretty telling stat:  Point's last basket was a Rortvedt turnaround, midrange jumper with 3:46 left in the game (extending the lead to 9), and they managed just two more points, two Krull FT's, the rest of the way out.

Had this game gone an additional 2 minutes, Point would have lost, I truly believe.  La Crosse had the momentum, as they ended the game on a 14-5 run in the last 6:16, but a key steal by Beamish (his 4th of the game) with :03 sealed the game (even though he went down and biffed the front end of the 1 and 1).  Somehow, though, LaX was able to rebound (with :01 second on the clock) and call a timeout, to get one last attempt, but Drew Jackson intercepted the pass (his second steal) as the clock finally ran out.

This game was definately a street fight.  Both teams took their punches, and Point looked to be in control with about 10 mins to go, but La Crosse made their final push and Point hung on for the win.

This game was taped by Fox Sports Net, but the broadcast date is still TBA.  Whenever it is, I'd suggest watching it!
