Pat, I think we're both right.

Bottom line, 5000 seats and 500 people in them is not a good percentage.

Especially with a Top 10 team.

Start taking the free shoes away, and riding school buses to Stout and Superior games, maybe that's what it takes to get people to take ownership of their program.  Money doesn't grow on trees--except in Grinnell IA.

UWP vs UWRF: Went to game. Small crowd, I think weather and opponent related. Great comeback by RF, that had a great chance to win. They though their freshman guard was fouled on the last shot Coach went out 10 feet unto the Floor. No T was called. Earlier Combs had to be restrained on a call.Robertson played well. he looks like he is playing on 1 leg and really hurting. the Team really misses Davis and his scoring. The future looks bright for both teams, due to their youth.  I wish more of the BO Bandwagon fans would come out to the games.I know Bo has said  to support the program. Just because I knew Bo personally, did not mean I threw my team under the bus when he left. more later! God Bless as always!

Great game in La Crosse on Saturday, complete with a Quandt-size crowd and a good atmosphere. It is great to have competetive basketball in Mitchell Hall again. Point has the best team in the Conference. As Old School points out, they go 5 deep (at least) with fine players. La Crosse has 3 really good starters in my view, and are just a little below the Pointers in talent overall. This does not mean that the Eagles can't or won't take them down at tourney time. I hope all our friends from Point enjoyed their time in La Crosse. We hope to see you ONE MORE TIME this year.

Glad to see you here, Brian.  Too bad you missed Old School.

La Crosse has 3 really good starters in my view,

I'm assuming Ask, Feherenbach and Werner...but I think you have to include Brandon Brown in there.  He's a very good player as well, IMO.  Feherenbach and Brown return next year, as does your 3rd starter in Kegler.

Conference Tourney Seedings

1  Stevens Point       11-1
8  Eau Claire             3-9

4  Platteville               7-5
5  Whitewater            7-5

3  La Crosse               9-4
6  River Falls                4-9

2  Oshkosh                 10-3

If Platteville is able to knock off La Crosse tomorrow night, it could make for a very interesting race all of a sudden for the third seed.

I wanted to make a few comments on the job that Jeff Berkhof has done at UWRF.

In my opinion he should be coach of the year.  He wont get it but look at what he has done.

Starts a group of veteran role guys with as good a freshman combo as the league has seen in a few years.  Koonkoew and Robertson are having great freshman years.  Thompson is solid, but the rest of the team may not have another guy on the team that could start for anyone except Superior.

They need to get rid of the interim tag and hire the man.  just my 2 cents

Good thoughts on Berkof.  I don't know if you'll find anyone in here who could argue that he hasn't done an excellent job.  I met him when he was still an assistant and thought he would have a bright future in coaching.

Are you saying that Thompson is the only player worthy of starting for another team?  If that's the case, I'll argue by saying Koonkaew, Robertson AND Courtney Davis could all start for other WIAC teams.

They just need some consistency.  I remember when they were one of the most feared teams in the league.  They lost in OT to Whitewater, beat Stout, lost to Oshkosh by just 3, beat La Crosse before their game against Point (which they got beat really bad).  Prior to that game, I was worried about the Falcons.  Lately, they've lost four of five, but I think that coincides with Courtney Davis' injury.

And you know, as bad as Superior's record is, they have some good players on their team:  James Nobles, Leonard Cobb, Dwight Hill, Burton-Norman and even Ely.  They just can't play any defense! lol

While I agree that Davis being out and the losing is related, his injury was a brain freeze.  Didn't go to class and the grade point took a dip.

If you don't want your point guard, we'll take him.

If you want to hear Jack Bennett's take on the WIAC conference to date, he will be on our Western Wisconsin Sports Saturday show this Sat. morning at 8:50.  WMEQ.com Click on Listen Live.

That's a pretty bad injury to have.  Either I understood it was a physical injury or I just assumed it was.  My apologies.  ::)  :D
