Greek Tragedy

With Point (14-1) already clinching the regular season title, the final day of games is kind of anti-climatic.  But, there is still a lot to play for in regards to home court and even making the tourney.

If I'm correct, if Superior (2-13) and Eau Claire (3-12) tie at 3-13, Superior has the tie breaker because they would've beaten Point (tomorrow, obviously), while Eau Claire has already been swept.

La Crosse (11-4) and Oshkosh (11-4) are tied for 2nd, but La Crosse holds the tie-breaker since they swept Oshkosh.  Home court is on the line with Oshkosh having a tough one at Platteville (8-7) and La Crosse trying to avoid the upset at Stout (5-10).

Platteville (8-7) is battling Whitewater (9-6) for that coveted 4th spot (home court and the success in the WIAC tourney).  Since both were swept by Point, the next tie-breaker is either Oshkosh or La Crosse, depending on who's 2nd.  Whitewater has already split with Oshkosh, while Platteville will obviously need to win...and that will result in a 1-1 record vs. Oshkosh (PL hosts Osh).  Both were also swept by La Crosse.

This comes down to Stout (5-10) and River Falls (5-11).  The battle for 6th and 7th is still undetermined as well.  If they end up with the same record, River Falls gets the 6th seed because Saturday's Stout game is against La Crosse, meaning they'd be swept by them and River Falls split.

Back to Platteville to Whitewater.  Both Platteville and Whitewater swept Stout and River Falls.  I'm getting sick of this.  Now it's 8th place Eau Claire's turn.  Platteville already swept Eau Claire, and with Whitewater needing to lose to tie Platteville in the standings, Platteville would get the tie-breaker because Whitewater would have to lose to Eau Claire (to split) tomorrow!  Got all that?

1. Stevens Point (14-1)

2. La Crosse (11-4) (swept Oshkosh)
3. Oshkosh (11-4)

4. Platteville (8-7) (swept Eau Claire)
5. Whitewater (9-6) (if same record as Platt, split with EC-hosts EC sat.)

6. River Falls (5-11) (split with La Crosse)
7. Stout (5-10) (if same record as RF, swept by La Crosse-host LC Sat.)

8. Superior (2-13) (needs to win to split with SP and have same record as Eau Claire-hosts SP Sat.)
9. Eau Claire (3-12) (swept by Point)

Gibbons makes a good choice, and avoids the radio show with Stoutguy.

Nonemakers need to go out for hockey. That would be a site to see.

Point beats Superior 103-64, just the third team in the WIAC/WSUC to go undefeated on the road for a conference season.

Btw, haven't seen the stats yet, but the radio guys said Point had 27 assists and just 7 TO's...  Point was already leading college basketball in this stat, but it'll go up after tonight!

WW over EC by 1. WW controls 1st half and ends up leading 42-30.  WW makes another quick run in the 2nd half to bump the lead to 19.  EC storms back due to an incredible performance by Beyer and better rebounding.  Beyer ends up scoring 40pts and really asserted himself.  Although a loss, a great effort by EC.  After the Superior loss at home it would have been easy to pack it in for the rest of the season.  Hopefully the close road loss to a good team will bring confidence to EC for the Point game.

From watching the video on iFan, I know that at least two of those Point T.O.s happened in the last 90 seconds.

Well, I'm glad SOMEONE could see something on that video... I had to make the screen like 1.5 in x 1.5 in to see anything. :D

The stream was hicupping through the first half of the game, so the iFan staff compensated by making the feed itty-bitty.  It was kind of like watching a cribbage match from the top row of the Superdome.

Interesting season.

I'm going to miss the Tuesday game here in La Crosse.  I'm an elections inspector, and we have a primary election that day.

Wow...  Here's a link to the Point/Sup game

Point's starters scored more points (69) in 116 minutes than the entire Superior team did in 200.

Point had 27 assists on 37 field goals to just 7 turnovers.

The starters had 22 assists to just 3 TO's.

I'm hoping that Beyer got all of his scoring out of his system this afternoon!

1. Point
8. EC

4. Whitewater
5. Platteville

2. La Crosse   (rematch of today's game)
7. Stout

3. Oshkosh
6. River Falls

Here's the Pool C outlook:
School      Regional record     Reg Win%     QOWI as of Monday     Regional ranking
Point                 21-1                  95.45            11.550                                 1
Oshkosh            17-5                  77.22            10.100                                 5
La Crosse          16-6                  72.73             9.684
Whitewater       17-8                   72.0               8.957

Now, since the QOWI on Monday, there have been two games.  Oshkosh's QOWI will go down with the loss, La Crosse's probably will go up.  Point's will go down due to Superior's win percentage amounting to fewer QOWI points than their current average.  Oshkosh's regional ranking could be in jeopardy with the loss, but St. Thomas also lost and Oxy and Redlands are matching up tonight.

Saw UWO vs PV yesterday. Game was 11 point game with 5 minutes to go. UWO did a good job closing it out. they controlled the ball and hit foul shots. I was impressed with TVD coaching decisions and uses of timeouts. I was also impressed with the depth of the team. I think they have a lot of talent and could go far in the tournament , both conference and NCAA3. I do not understand how they could have lost to UWW.      On another note, nice to see AW, klutch and Die hard posting here. you are all entertaining! God Bless!

Maybe because Whitewater has been playing really well lately.  They've won 6 of 7, and the only loss has been a 3-pt loss to Point.  Not bad.
