I do not understand how they could have lost to UWW.

Maybe because Whitewater has been playing really well lately.  They've won 6 of 7, and the only loss has been a 3-pt loss to Point.  Not bad.

UWPSUPERFAN77 - The Warhawks shot 58 percent for the game, 67 percent from beyond the arc and forced 17 turnovers - pretty simple recipe for victory!!

Here's an update of the WIAC's status for at-large bids.  Keep in mind that each team would incur an additional loss to be eligible...

2   11.682   1   UW-Stevens Point   0.955 (21-1)   22-2
26   10.227   5   UW-Oshkosh   0.773 (17-5)   20-5
36   10.000   6   UW-La Crosse   0.714 (15-6)   17-7
74   9.200   10   UW-Whitewater   0.680 (17-8)   17-8
153   8.250   20   UW-Platteville   0.550 (11-9)   13-11

Whitewater and Platteville are out of contention.  Point is a lock, Oshkosh would need to have some bad things happen to NOT get a bid IMO, and La Crosse's standing looks much better than it did last week.

My question about Oshkosh losing is based on the talent they have. I understand how well UWW is playing. Thank You for the answers that OS and DT gave me. +Karma for both! God Bless!

Pointspecial; I agree SP is a lock but considering the NCAA D-3's bias against the WIAC because we are all public universities and the travel cost excuse I think Oshkosh has to make the WIAC tournament championship game to get in.  La Crosse had some bad loses earlier and who knows what is going to happen in other conference tournaments.  It would be nice to get all three in but hey this is the politicly correct D-3 not the made for TV D-1.

Yeah. NCAA must've been sleeping at the wheel letting three WIAC teams in last year. :)

The NCAA doesn't have a bias against public schools.  They do, however, have a "bias" against conferences that tend to beat each other up and don't have gaudy records against in-region opponents.  The way the system is set up, a team with a high win percentage against weaker opponents would be "chosen" over a team that, from a subjective POV is a better team, but just doesn't have a record against regional opponents that is as good.  This would, in turn, affect the QOWI of the team, because any win is better than any loss, no matter if it's against a really good team or a really bad team.

Regions such as the Midwest, Great Lakes, and parts of the West tend to beat each other up, because it is generally accepted that the level of play in these regions is better across the board than other areas of the country.  Teams from this region really need to root for conference leaders such as Amherst, Wooster, WPI, Lake Erie to win their conference tournaments, because these teams would be up for selection first and are virtual locks (as is UWSP).

When it gets right down to it, though, any team that ISN'T Point is in a position that, if they want to be comfortable on Selection Sunday, they need to win the conference tournament.  Having been on teams that 1) didn't get in 2) got a Pool C bid and 3) got the auto bid, the third way was much more enjoyable than either the first or the second, because it's always possible that a team, ANY team, wouldn't get in.

Yep. Those "public" schools in the OAC and CCIW get burned too. :)

Tournament Fantasy League!!!  ;D :D

Very simple stuff.

Submit a ONE-TIME five-man roster to be used throughout the tournament.  So, obviously, you may want to pick players from teams that will play as many games as possible.

There is no draft.  Multiple posters can have the same player on their team.

ONE CATCH...You can only pick ONE player from any one team.  Please post your rosters in the WIAC Fantasy League board ONLY.

Remember, ONE ROSTER OF FIVE PLAYERS (no more than one player from any one team) is used throughout the whole tournament.

Here is the scoring system:

Points + Rebounds + Assists + 3-pt. Field Goals Made + Blocks + Steals - Turnovers (multiplied by 2) - Missed Free Throws (multiplied by 2) = TOAL POINTS.

Standings will be posted after each round.

Pretty simple stuff, get your roster in before Tuesday's games!!!  Good luck!

Mr. Downtown

If the tourney tomorrow is anything like the women's today the WIAC officially will be turned upside down.

Then again, I picked Stout to beat La Crosse tomorrow.
