So I have an even more brilliant idea. Why don't the WIAC and the CCIW do their challenge each year in SoCal over winter break. Yeah, you guys wish you thought of it first. ;D 8)

At a neutral site, the games we'd play against eachother anyway are all treated like they're away games on the QOWI (and I assume the same is true of the system that replaces it). Better than a home loss or win, and without the hostile environment usually associated with an away game. Everyone wins. Hmmmm..... :)

Everyone wins?  You mean everyone named April wins.  The rest of us will be back here freezing and shouting at the Live Scoring screen.
Live stats are so sweet. How else could one follow five games at the same time… :D

What... Christmas break in Cali? Who wouldn't be down with that? ??? I travel enough to the Tundra that is the Midwest to watch basketball as it is, thank you. :P The main point was that a neutral site would be good. The Cali thing was just a side joke. There were a few midwest school, including North Park that came out to Cali during Christmas break and played some games. In region, neutral site with away pointage, everyone wins.... for real.

Wheaton never travels well.
What do you mean, Greg?  They travel all over the place.  I mean, look where diehardfan has been...and look where she's living now!  As far as I'm concerned, April is the only Wheaton fan and SHE travels VERY WELL! lol  :P ;D :D ;)
Heh, I wish we travelled well, but we don't. The sometimes you can get people to go to NCC and Elmhurst, which are a whopping 15 mins away, but even then, not so much. I've been to plenty of @Augie or @Carthage or NCC games when Wheaton brought maybe 20-50 fans. If we made it to the Final Four, there'd be like 300 people there.... max. And they'd probably be almost all be players' families and a few local alum. :'(

JB, i think thats something that, should the two meet in the finals of the sectional, would give UST a slight advantage. that said, i think Beamish could match up with Keating and Krull (being as phyiscal and tough as he is) could defend Rosefelt (who relies more on athleticism and quickness in the post, and can be bothered by physicality). it was very different this year, as someone whose seen a lot of Pointer games since the mid 90s, to watch a UWSP team playing "small" and casting so much from deep. no matter the scheme, the Pointers just win-i learned that early  ;). like i said, it would be a treat should we get to see it.

I would love to see them play each other for two reasons:

1. Both teams are VERY much based on finesse.  Point does have a couple guys that can bang (you have to in the WIAC) but only when needed.

2.  The best from he MIAC playing the best from the WIAC, who wouldn't love that!!!

In order for it to get to that point, SP would have to of probably dealt with St. Johns already giving them a good taste of MIAC basketball, that might hurt UST.

UST can be what ever they want in the post as long as they don't dribble, Point does a great job of help defense and will have hands poking at the ball.  TRUST me thye know what the scouting report is on them and do a great job covering their weakness.

Since UST plays 7 guys double min and the 7th guy is getting 10 so out running them probaly won't work.  BUT leets not forget a littel team in AUGIE is in the way.

I do wish I was dancing :(

BDSB, and UST would have to take care of, most likely, Augustana (a very, very tough 2nd round opponent). so, a lot would have to happen before a best of the MIAC v. WIAC showdown could materialize. but hey, im hoping for it.

I hate the "loaded" bracket which always seem to appear.  I know last year Stout was in a ridiculous bracket having two top ten teams going at each other in the second round.

It's interesting to read about the potential matchup between Point and St. Thomas when that won't happen until the Elite 8.  Point still has the potential matchup against fellow MIACer St. John's, if they get past Loras.

OS, everyone has acknowledged that there is a lot of ball to be played before that matchup could materialize. its just enticing to look ahead to a game that could pit the #1 teams in neighboring conferences against one another (something that almost never happens between the MIAC & WIAC), should the chips fall in place. i suppose it would make more sense to be talking about SJU and their potential contest with UWSP, but considering their performance in the last week against St Thomas, the Johnnies will have to show a lot against Loras before those of us who saw them lay an egg in St Paul believe they can push the Pointers.

True enough, but a 2nd round matchup with CCIW reg. season and conference champ Augustana should be your worry!  Augustana took Point to the brink at Quandt over the holiday break before Point pulled out the win.

IS THE GAME AT QUANDT SOLD OUT YET?

I had an interesting thought

If you could change one thing about the WIAC what would it be?

it could be for the fans, media, players, coaches or anything that has to do with WIAC basketball.

My first thought is scholarships but that is becuase i have student loans.....

any thoughts

OS, ive seen them play. i alluded to the fact (above) that getting to Sectional play would be rough. i know what UST is in for, believe me. had i not seen them play, the CCIW reputation would be enough for me to be weary of Augie. Tommie backers feel better about the situation, considering the game will be at home. Only loss at The Shoe was to UWL, when Rosefelt was out with an illness.

On the underlying reason Oshkosh doesn't get in the Tourney comes down to what someone referred to earlier: bad coaching. They need a change there big time but nobody wants to step up after all these years of good talent and no coaching skill and leadership.
