On the underlying reason Oshkosh doesn't get in the Tourney comes down to what someone referred to earlier: bad coaching. They need a change there big time but nobody wants to step up after all these years of good talent and no coaching skill and leadership.

BBGUY- Are you T2k's Twin Brother??  It sounds like you both have to fight over the same ax to grind.  Please enlighten me on what is it that TVD is not doing to your satisfaction. I would assume that those prior trips to the NCAA Tourney were just getting lucky.

I have about 22 credits left and a major in good 'ol Psychology. and a minor in coaching

"good 'ol Psychology" is the opposite of "abnormal psychology," although I see from your minor that you've studied that as well.  :D

BD, a guy from my HS conference in Michigan played at Stout and went on to work in construction management.  His name is Jerry Kissman.  I believe he once held the conference record for career rebounds.

"Wheaton travels well"? Since when, Chuck?

Wheaton never travels well.

What do you mean, Greg?  They travel all over the place.  I mean, look where diehardfan has been...and look where she's living now!  As far as I'm concerned, April is the only Wheaton fan and SHE travels VERY WELL! lol  :P ;D :D ;)

I've heard of the "royal we", but April is the only individual I've ever seen dubbed with the "royal they". :D

And how many trips is that?  How many is that compared to say Stevens Point?  How many losses to LaX will you accept?

UW-O has been a dominant team in a lot of sports and this hasn't been one of them.  Time for a change--just like football.

You two obviously don't pay a lot of attention to TVD, or haven't watched him enough. As with any coach, you can only do so much. Ted preaches a fundamentally sound - perhaps conservative - offense which varies from year-to-year based on personnel. The game plan is pretty standard, dribble-penetrate, draw the foul and win the close games at the line. Doesn't sound worthy of firing to me. Matchup defenses, well-timed presses ... all seems pretty decent. Now, if the players don't buy into the system, is that a coach's fault? If the players don't heed coaching down the stretch and choose to take the game into their own hands (bad passes, poor shots, costly decisions ... ) is that a coach's fault? Hell no. And I'd say the same thing about Emperor Tom I ... a coach can only do so much. He lost to LAX three times this year? Well, maybe the Eagles just had the Titans' number those days. It happens. It's part of sports. I want the Titans to win the WIAC every year, too, but I'm not blaming Ted if they don't get there.

(And no, this post wasn't aimed at getting a couple of free drinks when I'm at Players' next week ... )
"Drew, where's that story?"

What this post does is make people realize that the coach bashing that goes on all the time really gets old.  People that have been there (I have), understand that the bashing is part of  the business.  It does not, however, make it any easier to listen to.  It starts way earlier than the college level.  I was doing at hs tournament game last night and within earshot of our broadcast we got to watch and listen to a mom go out to the coaches huddle and berate the coach right in front of her son.  Nice job, mom.  Make your son proud.  Coach bashing at all levels is way too okay these days.  I, for one, am sick of all of it at any level.

How quickly people forget that in the 6 years previous to TVD getting the Head Job UWO had a winning record in conference exactly ONE time, and that was a 9-7 campaign in 1985.  Since then, UWO has a winning record in confernece, 10 out of 16 years, including 5 of the last 6.  I'm sure there are some fans in Eau Claire that would love to trade places.

Some of you talk about how there has been plenty of talent at UWO.  Well who do you think gets the talent there?  It sure isn't Phil K!!! ::)

It's been quite awhile since I have posted but felt the urge after reading the comments about Coach Van Dellen.  I think he does an excellent job during the course of a game including timely substitutions and proper calls for working against his opponents.  I know Point has a handful with the Titans every time they meet.  Perhaps we all (especially me) thought the Titans were more talented than they really were.  They were big but not overlly quick and I'm not sure now of the size of fight in the dog.  I'd say Ted ranks up near the top of coaches in the league but then, that's just my opinion.

WIAC vs CCIW or MIAC or the Iowa conference remeinds me of the old Football "Border Battle" the WIAC vs. the Northern Sun Conference of MN.  Sounds like a great idea but probably will never come to pass.  Something else to chew on having the WIAC Tounament Men's and Women's semifinal and finals on a Friday-Saturday at one site like the Kohl Center or the Field House.  Years ago the folks at the Alliant Energy Center were interested in trying this but the Field House might be cheaper being its a UW institution. Just a thought.

He holds Stout's #1 spot still at 1408 averaging 16.1 per game, three time all-conference 1st team selection.

The current WIAC leader is Jason Kalsow with 883.  That's how you crash the boards Kissman :)

You psychology guys really scare me.  But on a serious note the big guy himself (Pat Coleman) is going to be on our radio show Sat. morning somewhere between 9:20 and 9:35.  I'm thinking that I need to get his reaction to the firestorm that you created with this WIAC/CCIW talk.
