I'm from St Louis and Formerly Holland Mi, so I support both Hope and Wash U      Just talked to Wash U regarding tickets - evidently there is to be a conference call this afternoon to discuss the how's where's etc. Also was given the rumor of a possible split session, I really hope not-   I was really hoping I would have it easy just to go over to Wash U and get tickets.......   If anybody hears formal plans before I do , please post here - a trip up is very meaningful to me....
Blah. As I am a neutral fan way out in Cali (granted, probably one of the five total neutral fans that will be there :D ), OS was kind enough to promise to get me a ticket. But, if they do that, then I have to figure out how to get a ticket to the other game!?!?! ::)

Please do keep us abreast of what is going on... thanks! :)

I think it is very , very suspect that 4 teams from one conference get in and only one from the WIAC...one could rationalize it all day long but ...

Just Bill

All it does is show a flaw in the selection process, which appears to favor one conference in particular.  It's not the only flaw in the system, but it is something that should be looked at.

Since all the WIAC schools are in the same region (as is the case in most conferences).  Only one of them can be "on the table" for Pool C consideration at a time.  So one WIAC team must be picked before another is even discussed.

The UAA could have three teams representing three different regions all up for consideration at the same time.  It appears that this does help them, but it's hard to say to what degree.

This is from the Wash U. student newspaper, quoting the Whitworth head coach:

[Whitworth head coach Jim] Hayford reserved even harsher words for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC), the league in which Stevens Point competes. "Someone needs to tell the Wisconsin schools, 'look around the rest of Division III. Do you see anyone else like you? You probably ought to go in the division that you should be in," said the sixth-year head coach. "The Wisconsin league looks a lot like the rest of the Division II looks like."

Teams to contact for future non-conference games:
Whitworth

Well, that's one phone call we've saved.

The headline of this article also calls me to continue my crusade to rid the world of my worst pet peeve:  It's Stevens, not Steven's, and certainly not Stephens.  The reporter, to his credit, got it right.

Hey guys, I just thought I'd pop in to let you know about a little project we did. A group of around 40 posters banded together and created a Unofficial Guide to the 2006-2007 NCAA Tourney, that contains a team-by-team breakdown of the teams in the tournament. This is especially cool given the fact that the official NCAA guide gives you very little insight into the teams, and nearly all of the previews in the Unofficial Guide were made by fans of the team.

The website is: http://wheatonhoops.googlepages.com/ncaatourney and on that website you can find browsable information, as well as a 19 page printable PDF document. This was updated as of this morning.

While I doubt that we'll ever get any posters to submit information for the 11 teams that did not submit previews, it does include previews from 48 of the 59 teams in the tournament, and all of the teams in the Sweet Sixteen. I hope you check it out and enjoy the content!

If there are any corrections or content additions you would like to me, please submit them to me by PM. Thanks! :)

Don't recall Wash U bitching too much when they're ladies were getting every possible call against the Titans back in the late 1990s ... whatever. I think it's pretty humorous, and I'm sure the cub hack is feeling pretty good about himself landing such a quote.
"Drew, where's that story?"

Just Bill

To be fair, this is Whitworth doing the bitching. Not Wash U.

twins, whats up, its KP from KMK....how you guys doing? What's next for you? up for anymore road trips to Iowa?!?!?!
;)

Hello KP!!!!!

My season's been over for over a week, suprised my phone hasn't rang yet :)

LOL..I am not playing anymore, knees are too bad. I'm actually doing some scouting for ABA teams, and helping with tryouts, etc. I was working with the Chicago Rockstars before they shut down this year..and I lost your numbers!!!

Greek Tragedy

Not sure about the ticket situation, other than I'm skipping work to go stand in line at 6 am tomorrow morning in Point.  When Point hosted the sectional two years ago, I believe we could buy tickets for both games at the same time.  If "your" team doesn't win, not sure what the return policy is.

That's awesome!!!!!!  But as they say "the proof is in the pudding",  GO POINT!!!!  "good luck, we're all counting on you"Airplane

Diehardfan, great website and if i could give out Karma I'de give one to you ;)

Greek Tragedy

As much as I'm disappointed that the WIAC didn't get more than one team in, I'm happy, as a Pointer fan, that we don't have to play any of them again in the tourney.  I mean, the last thing I want to do is play La Crosse for a 4th time (Hope and Calvin just played for a 5th time, with Hope getting the win last weekend, finishing 3-2 vs their rivals) or play Oshkosh for the right to advance into the next round.

We could be like the ODAC where they got THREE teams in, but were all in the same sectional.  Virginia Wesleyan beat Hampden-Sydney in the 2nd round and could face fellow ODACer Guilford for the right to go to the Final Four, if both win.  If that happened in the WIAC, we'd just complain we were all in the same bracket! lol.  >:(

Nice article on Drew "I'm the long lost brother of Tayshawn Prince" Jackson  :P

The tickets sales info is posted on the Pointers website. Tickets for each game will be sold seperately.

Saturday's championship tickets will not go on sale until after the semifinals.  Is this how it worked with the championship tickets in 2005?  Does anyone who was there in 2005 know if the tickets for Saturday's game will be sold right after the Pointers game at the Quandt box office or will they be sold saturday morning??

Thanks for the info.  I'm sure it will be another trainwreck come Saturday after the 2nd game, if Point advances...like it kind of was for the WIAC tourney games.

I didn't buy tickets for the 2005 tourney (my friends did for me), but I wanted to say we just bought tickets for Friday and Saturday at the same time...at least I don't remember standing in line for Saturday's game.

Just started a separate board for the Stevens Point Sectional in Multi-Regional Topics...that way we won't have to be in 4 different places while discussing Hope - Carroll - Wash U - UWSP.
