Wow, that Whitworth coach is a real jackass.    :P

Yeah, really!  What kind of **** would imply that some WIAC teams are so good that they should play DII?  That's just really crummy of him, huh?

Your best chances would be to call the UWSP box office at 8:00 AM on Friday morning to see if you can get tix when the remainder of the season ticket holders and Wash U leftovers come available to the general public.

"Washington University has been provided an allotment of tickets and any unsold tickets will go on sale to UW-Stevens Point fans at the ticket office on Friday at 8 a.m. The general public can also purchase tickets to the Hope-Carroll game beginning on Friday morning after those schools have returned any unsold tickets. Tickets for Saturday's championship game will be sold following Friday's semifinals.

Tickets can also be bought by phone with use of a credit card, though individuals at the ticket office in person will be given first priority. The box office can be reached at 715-346-4100 or 800-838-3378."

We're playing by the same rules that Whitworth is so to some of us it sounds on the whiney side.  I wouldn't say that it makes him a jackass though.

I suspect most of our schools would move up if money were available to do so.  It isn't and we won't be going anywhere in the forseeable future so he'll just have to adjust.   Or perhaps he would want to explore a move to the NAIA.

We've got some pet whines too.  Would you like me to list them?  ;)

Washington U gets like 850 tickets, which is sections A-C(normal adult section) so adults move to E(normal student section) so students move to behind basket.

The chance of Wash U using up all 850 tickets is not very likely.  The remainder of these tickets are going to come available at 8:00 AM on Friday morning.

Regarding the tickets in section C, the majority of these seats are the seats of season ticket holders... UWSP gives these individuals the opportunity to purchase their tickets (I believe it's through this afternoon, or something like that) before these, as well, would be turned over to be distributed to the general popluation.

Having sat beneath the basket all year, I think the students actually will like this better than across from the bench...  the end-on approach gives a different perspective... but it's more like the perspective the players get while on the floor.  I think that's why I like it the best!

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as an ideal seat in a basketball game... From the half court line you can see the action on both sides of the court much better, and from high you can watch plays develop, from close you feel closer to the game and you can see fouls better... from the end you can see the action close to you a lot better, but the other side of the court it is often really, really hard to see!

I have only sat at the end of the court two or three times in all the DIII games I've attended over the years, and it's cause my brother wanted to. The first time I was high enough in the stands that the backboard was blocking a lot of the action.... so it really matters where you're sitting behind the basket a lot!

The second time was at IWU for an IWU-Wheaton game.... my brother and I got to the gym at least an hour before the game, and he decided it was an incredibly bright idea to sit in the front row essentially directly under IWU's basket, which is where all their football players and a lot of their students sit (scary! especially since he spent most of the game heckling!). I agree with PointSpecial in the fact that I've never felt more a part of the action... which makes a lot of sense from the perspective that PS and I both played frontcourt, so at least significant amount of the time you are looking at the court in that direction, as opposed to a guard, who would spend more time with his face to the basket.

It's admittedly a little unnerving to have the players essentially looking right at you while they're preparing to shoot FTs, or they're basically on top of you for an inbounds pass... but it's very fun and people should definitely try it every once in a while for a different perspective.

I wouldn't say your posters are whiney -- just mean!  Any time I post on this site, my meagre karma gets dinged more -- but I still don't care, I'm going to say what I want -- that's what forums are for.  So, ding away you mean karma dingers!

Great article on Jon Krull in the SP Journal

http://www.stevenspointjournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070306/SPJ02/703060655/1678/SPJsports
This article sparked my curiosity, so I thought I'd do a little digging to find out some stats from Krull's last two trips to Salem as a frosh and soph...

16.25ppg, 5.75rbg, 24-38 from the floor (63.2%), and 15-17 from the line (88.2%)

I honestly was surprised to hear that he was back this year... he sure has played maturely for an underclassman in all the Point games I saw two and three years ago when I was still living closer to the hotbed of good DIII teams. I think that his numbers just demonstrate how much of a clutch player he is... and how good he is... I mean, these stats came while playing on the same team as All Americans Jason Kalsow and Nick Bennett and against some of the best competition the nation had to offer! It will be fun to watch him play again now as the leader of the team and see how much he's improved... just two days! Woo! :)

Just got my tix at Wash U  -  sales were far from brisk  -  I was the first and only buyer in the first four hours  -  (actually I was second on the list - coach Edwards had bough several).   And I am an outsider, not a student.
The receptionist did say she had gotten several calls from Hope regarding purchase - don't know how they were handled......

I take it you don't want me to list our pet whines.  Ok that's fine.  I didn't really care too anyway.  They're as old and beaten to death as the Whitworth coach's is.  ;)

The karma thing is silly.  But I'm not a meanie so I gave you and Kieth some love.

Good luck, Point.   Give them something to whine about. :D  that's a joke
