As far as I know, the Athletic department is given no special treatment over other departments as per Division III rules.   The Medical school gets the most attention.

I wasn't implying otherwise. Speaking as someone who has attended U of C basketball games for many years, I've never been under the impression that the UAA schools showered their athletic departments in money.

Though I admit that the department can get some extra help directly from some wealthy alumni, like the McWilliams, who now have an annual tournament in their name.

I was simply saying that Wash U, like its conference brethren, starts out with a vastly larger resource base from whence their athletic department's budget is derived.

Meaning the same percentage translates to more actual dollars.

Also, "special treatment" is a relative term. It's not a coincidence that the UAA is a plane conference, as opposed to the D3 commonplace of bus-and-van conferences. The vast wealth of the UAA schools is what makes the very existence of their conference possible in the first place.

I *think* it is a plane AND bus conference with a bus being taken between the Friday night and Sunday afternoon conference games.  I've heard that, but I know little enough to not know if the 717 mile trip between Emory and Case Western is the sole exception.

But I complete agree that the UAA wouldn't be possible if the member universities weren't willing to foot the bill for plane flights during the conference schedule.

Yes you can.  It's called the law of averages.   Point was bound to shoot poorly sooner or later. 

Well, they didn't ALL have to shoot bad at the same time, and I'd prefer LATER than sooner...like next year.  Oh well. 

I'm still depressed.    Like I said at the Point game, I'd rather NOT make the tourney than make the tourney and lose!  Call me selfish and spoiled, I don't care!

What the??? As someone who has had their team stay home undeservedly, you're totally way off on that one.  There are a million "What if" questions pertaining to the 2003-2004 season that still haunt me.

My point is that I feel worse (right now) losing in the tourney than not making it a certain year or two when we were on the bubble.

NPU was way before my time.  I don't consider that as part of my basketball history. lol    Well, ok, maybe I do!
