HEY KERRY GIBSON

Or other Oshkosh reps, posters or fans...

Post or send me an email and tell me how you felt you did at the mccarthy sports tourney.  I don't mean just stats, how you think you stacked up and "inside" stuff like that.  I think we'd all like to know, or at least me! lol.  Any opportunities come about?  Inquiring minds want to know.

I found a NFL Draft TE ranking that had Joe Werner listed #33 out of 47.

http://www.gbnreport.com/2007tes.html

The people making that list don't even seem to know that he is a basketball player (according to their own abbreviation key).  I wouldn't take much stock in it.

I didn't attend, but here is Gibby's take on the event in the UW-Oshkosh newspaper. In short, Gibby wasn't impressed and he wasn't impressive.

In my talks with Gibson in the past it seems like he's not gonna actively pursue playing professional basketball.  He would do it if an offer came up he couldn't refuse, but other than that just focus on school.

Believe me, he's probably heard everybody tell that he should play and how great he could be at the next level with his height, and so on, and so on.......... I hope he's surrounded himself with people who support him in whatever decision he makes because ther will be plenty who don't.

On another note, it's dissapointing to here that the McCarthy thing wasn't better.  I was looking forward to attending so I could draw more interest state-side.  They REALLY hyped it up and made it sound like the best thing since sliced bread.......... but being its first year, hopefully they can improve on it in years to come.

Kerry Gibson update:

He will play for the Mobile Stingrays in the newly formed New World Professional Basketball League, which has 12 teams from as far north as Chicago and south to Florida.
Gibby will report May 18 and the 10-week season ends July 21.

The league Web site is horrible, BTW.

Is there any other players looking to play at a higher level next year?  Cobb?

I would help any who are with the little that I know about the process if they get in touch with me, always looking to help out a fellow WIACer.

It has crossed my mind, but the league that requires players to be 6'5" or shorter and then raised the height a bit, folded a long time ago.  I was thinking about starting a league that requires players 5'10" or shorter, and also lowers the basket to 8 feet.  Who's in?

LOL! Sweet! I'm in, especially since my 3-on-3 team may be moving to Europe! I'd be one of the tallest players, and able to play Center like I used to before I stopped growing in like 7th grade at 5'9" (and everyone else kept growing)... :-[

I totally can dunk on a basket that short... Hmm, or at least I used to be able to... probably not so much with the ankle that I just sprained while hiking in Sequoia. Give me a month or two to get back into playing shape and we'll be set....  ::) :D

Prize for the league will of course be a trophy made out of cookies. ??? ;D ;)
Wait, dunks are only worth two points?!?!!!? Why does anyone do them? - diehardfan

Definitely not. Being tall is fun! It totally helped with basketball in middle school gym to be taller than most of the guys...  ;D And then I had to stop growing at like age 12.  ::)

It's only a curse when you like to wear heels and you're already several inches taller than so many dateable guys.... and then they're so short that you want to pat them on the head cause they feel like your kids rather than your date. :-[ :D You don't have that problem since there just isn't the same stigma for the guy to be a lot taller than the girl. I suppose finding clothes that are long enough is probably an issue though! Hmm... or when people ask you to do things just because you can reach it.... okay it's a little bit of a curse. ;)

I heard on La Crosse news tonight that Joe Werner is waiting for an email that will let him know if the Packers are interested in him.
