Interesting, so NMU can return the favor for St. Norb's, but not Point?  Interesting...of course, maybe Point decided not to schedule NMU! lol  ???

Omro hired Nate Miller to be the head boy's basketball coach.  I have never been to Omro, but he stated that bball is pretty popular up there.  I'm a year older then Nate, but that's pretty young for a coach, oh well, good luck to him anyway.

I don't know that much about Omro either but in the late 1990's they put together some pretty good boy's teams beating Randolph for a D3 state championship one year and losing the championship game a couple of years later.

Good luck to him.

Apparently Ben Hailey, formerly of Whitefish Bay Dominican and Division 2 Minnesota State - Mankato has decided to transfer and play at UW-Whitewater.

Hailey joins an already crowded list of new players to a roster that sported 5 seniors.

UW-Whitewater
Tom Anderson, Monona Grove
Cory Brezovar, New Berlin Eisenhower (Transfer from UW-Parkside)
Jovan Campbell, Milw. Vincent (Transfer)
Matt Goodwin, Milw. Rufus King (Transfer from Pacific)
Myles McKay, Menomonee Falls (Transfer from UW-Milwaukee)
Ryan Stauss, Cedarburg

Hailey last played for Minnesota-Mankato during the 2005-2006 season.  He left the program and has spent the last year at UW-Milwaukee.

He was part of WB Domincan's consecutive state champions in 2004 and 2005 that featured himself and JR Blount (now at Loyola).

Ex-Lawrence coach John Tharp was 24 when he took over the Viking program.

For Whitewater's sake, I hope all of these transfers form a TEAM.  :o

I would think NMU would be a challenge.

Maybe. lol. They were only one of two teams to beat Point during the regular season last year.  I was looking forward to them coming down since they won't have all-world player Ricky Volcy playing, he graduated.  He only went for 32 pts. and 13 rebs. with 5 assists and three blocks up in da U.P.

Ta da da dahhhh!
Trumpet fanfare!
Coaching change in the Eau Claire men's basketball program!  ;)

But it's the assistant coach, Matt Siverling, who is leaving the program, to take an assistant position at the University of Arkansas, under new coach John Pelphrey...

Siverling was an assistant at UWEC for the past three years. Congrats on moving up to a D1 role with the Razorbacks...

Though it's still unofficial it looks like, in addition to conference games, the WARHAWKS' 2007-08 schedule will include hosting Milwaukee School of Engineering, North Park and Eureka in a November tourney and traveling to St Norbert for a tournament involving St Johns and Rockford College in December.  Also nonconference games at Carroll College, Olivet College and Luther College while Central State (OH) and Cardinal Stritch will play in WHITEWATER.

We will be a team, OS.  ;)

According to UWP's website Colin Ruben a 6'5" 235 lb forward from Palos Hills, IL  and Stagg High School will attend Platteville.  From the looks of it P-ville is getting some front line help for Skemp to go along with the backcourt players that are returning.

I hope we are a team too, and that we play hard and pass the ball and don't make stupid turnovers.  Shooting will be a key also....looks like we are trying to ship in some talent to add to the 18 or so who will try out next year....thanks for the update, Miller doesn't post this type of stuff on the official WW website.

BW-
You are pretty close on your Omro basketball history, but a few minor changes....

Omro won the State title in 1997, knocking off Laconia in the title game.  (Randolph lost in the D4 championship to Edgar that season.)  In 1999, they were a runner-up to Park Falls.

Omro is what I would call a basketball town......  They are fairly "weak" in their other boys team sports (football and baseball) so the community support for the basketball team is pretty high.

They always say you don't want to follow the legend.  In Omro's case it was Spencer Rolph, at least that is how he was looked at.  You want to follow the guy the that followed the legend, which is what Miller is doing.

So Whitewater is playing my alma mater, Olivet College.  We may play them too, in a holiday tournament in Springfield, Ohio.  I'm trying to talk Brian Carroll into going, but he is wimping out.

He does that a lot, doesn't he? lol  ;D

Maybe if the much rumored trip to Amherst comes to fruitation, maybe I can get Swampgoon to go out there with me, depending on when it is...
