Anyone know anything about WIAC Media Day? I just saw it on the conference website, just wondering what that is all about.

Mr. Downtown

Media Day is for people (like myself and others on the board) convene to hear the new rules for the upcoming basketball season, any new media changes for the games, and then press conferences with the Coaches.

All of this is held right outside the WIAC headquarters in Madison, WI at some place called the Kohl Center. It's alright...and once awhile you can run into some guy named Bo Ryan, you know, some random schmuck   ;D

I can't go this year, so those that are going, have fun!

If you're doing play-by-play for the Falcons this year, I would certainly recommend attending.  You'll learn quite a bit about the other teams.

Since I've relocated to the Appleton area I might have to check out the UWGB vs UWSup game on Halloween!!

I'd also like to know what you two guys are up to.  No overseas contracts?  Anyway, since you're in the area, maybe we can meet up at a Lawrence game and laugh at them! lol...seriously, though, you're in a good area with a lot of D3 basketball within an hour from you.  Actually, I think Lawrence will be pretty good this year.

Knee surgery is in my future, looks like my year is done already.  But that gives me lots of time to spend following D3 college basketball that I love so much.  Anytime anybody's in the area I'll be interested in going to a game!!

Thanks for the roster UWRF, UWW will not post the roster until the 45 cuts they make :)

But inside info is hard to come by.  I don't think Jason Price is on the team or in the University for that matter.  Lechner can go to school 4 14 years here, but Jason can't make it a full 4 years????

I think that midnight madness happened, but I could be wrong.  I will try to make it to as many games as I can, but it's so hard to get on the bandwagon with this team. I must be getting old or something.  I can't even predict a starting lineup.  Perry, but beyond that, nothing.  What guards do we have???  Who transferred?  Who came into UWW?  Mitchell is looking bigger.  Can he dominate?  Where is Melvin when you need him.

Good luck against Mary Hardin.  I will be on the treadmill watching all the future recruits walk by.  Peace out.

Uh, YOU'RE supposed to be answering all these questions for us! lol  ;D...oh yeah, at least keep me up to date on all the future recruits that walk by...for women's soccer, tennis and cross country (volleyball players tend to be too tall for me  :P )  It would be a big loss if Jason Price didn't return.

Stevens Point scrimmaged on Friday night vs. UW-Parkside. Point was able to dictate the tempo and controlled the game for much of the first half. Toward the end of the half Parkside used it's very obvious advantage in athleticism to start changing the tempo. Estimated half time score...point by 3 or 5.

Second half was all Parkside. They were able to do pretty much what they wanted. Of the estimated 30 points point scored in second half, at least 6 or 9 were on last second threes to beat the shot clock. My guess for Parkside in the second half was mid 40's. I heard one person in the stands say 46-30 as a score for the second half...probably about right.

Point misses Krull because they do not yet have a person to throw it to in the post that can score and/or get fouled. Krull was also high on the team in assists last year which created many shots for the others. Friday night, I can't remember many times a player scored on a post move. Point scored off of three point shots from penetration and kick or off penetration and then hitting a backdoor cut for a layup. They still really shoot it well. At least 10 threes were hit.

Parkside was picked to win the GLVC East by the coaches. They aren't tall in the post but have guards that are big and pretty athletic with good skill. LaVontayFenderson from Racine dominated the second half.

They played a third twenty with a running clock. SP JV vs. UWP walk ons. Not much to report.

Thanks for the info Advoice.  I knew about the scrimmage but forgot to post it here.

Point plays their second scrimmage on Thursday, possibly at about 2:00 PM against Michigan Tech.  The Huskies were picked second in the GLIAC North, behind Grand Valley State, who made it to the Elite 8 last year.  Northern Michigan, who Point plays on November 19th, was picked third.

Sounds like some great challenges for Point early on!  I don't think it's letting the cat out of the bag that the Pointers will be extremely talented on the perimeter and rather thin on the interior.  They really are going to miss Krull this year, but with every good team, they'll succeed if and when other step to fill the gaps.

Question I thought scrimmages were closed to the public ... inside information advoice?

That is not true.  Scrimmages are not closed...they just can't be publicized, and the home team can't sell tickets, etc.   Anyone can walk into a scrimmage and watch.

It's just like watching a practice. The coaches must agree to let people watch. About 100+ there. Mostly parents of both teams and a few UWP students
