I'm not going to argue that you'll be able to score or not score without Price.  But, maybe if you have a returning All Conference player on your team, you not only know what he's going to give you, at the very least, there's a little cohesiveness to the team.  The turnover ratio can't help the team when it comes to familiarity.  Whitewater always seems to be one of the most athletic teams in the league and one of the most high scoring teams as well...but, they are arguably the most inconsistent.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Price was here a year then he was gone.  Then he was back again and now he's gone.  And your argument is that builds cohesiveness, familiarity and makes a team more consistant?   Teams suffer when they lose players like Manchester and Kroll.   Players that other players will follow.

Sorry, Greg, but it's on the Halas side of the line and I won't be able to take it in.   Though after my daughter attended Elmhurst briefly the college's gym is one of the few places in Chicagoland I could drive without the assistance of MapQuest.

BTW, any chance you're crossing to the Lombardi side for either of North Park's games 11/17 or 18?

I'm definitely going to try to get up there for both nights. If not, I hope to at least be there on Saturday the 18th.

Excellent, I look forward to meeting you though Saturday is still somewhat uncertain for me.

Hoops Junkie

Look for UWRF to surprise

Rumor is that the newcomers are as good as they have had in a while

And with Koonkaew and Robertson back they will challenge hard for an upper half finish

River does look to be good this year but I would also look out for SUP.

Here is my question for the year.  Which style will control the WIAC, the slower Piont,  Platt and Oshy or will the upbeat UWW, Stout and even RF and Sup?  With the rumors of some of the talent and athletes that has come into the league this year it should be interesting to watch.

Skemp will be a FORCE down low this year and maybe I am bias to big men but he is my early fav for POY.

Greek Tragedy

You don't need to be biased to big men to think that.  ;D

I also think he could be an early favorite.  Most of the big men from last year are gone, so he has a chance to dominate.  Gibson, the Nonemachers, Werner etc are gone.  Considering he's already a preseason All-American, it's hardly a stretch to think he could be POTY in our conference!  ??? ::)

Point may be "slower", but they did lead the league in scoring.

Chris Dorner is not on the preliminary Stevens Point roster.  It's roster has changed in the past, so I guess there's always hope! lol  ;D :D ;)

I could see Scott Hoelzel starting this year, along with Beamish, El-Amin, Rortvedt and Hicklin.

I would still like to see anyone from stout get POY but if not then a big man ;D

We all know Point can score (some of us all to well).  If they run into teams that can push their tempo and force piont to go deep into their bench then maybe the other team can score more then they can.  Point is a very good team in a very hard place for other teams to play in but I have a feeling that the WIAC will be better from top to bottom then it has been in recent years with RF and SUP making a push.  LAX, UWW, STOUT will also compete for home playoff games (if they can stay healthy) and it should be a harder year for who ever wins the WIAC then the last couple.

And Oshy?  Don't know to much about their team this year but one would think they may have a say in who wins this thing.

Not much height on that Pointer roster :(  There was a 7 footer that was a "grey shirt" last year, must not have made the cut (or the grades). Purple-Gold game on the 7th is a chance to see some of the new faces in action.

UW-Superior takes a respectable 30-point thumping from UW-Green Bay tonight. UWS hurt by poor fg shooting--30% to UWGBs 52%;  3-pointer %ages were almost dead even until the end; Supes did well on free throws but rebounding looked dismal, statistically speaking.

The GOOD news? UWS relied heavily on freshmen, with Dan Culy leading all scorers with 22. Five freshmen play 20+ minutes in the game.

Baptism by fire, but this is probably a good way to humble talented freshmen a bit; give them a taste of college ball. I hope they take a good lesson from this. I'm hoping for a decent season for the Supers.

Greek Tragedy

Good posts you guys.  No one ever has much info on Sups, so hopefully you'll be around all year for us.  Frodo, I may make the trip over for the game, but only if they have brats and burgers again!  lol...seriously, that'd be cool if they did!
